I've gotten a lot out of this video. I'm just now finishing my little Chinese lead cnc and about to plug it all into my new Demon controller. Your videos and teaching really help. Thanks

I agree, hard limits are a pain, so on my first machine I fed the hard limit switches into an arduino so I could debounce the hard limits. So that way a switch had to be active for a while before it tripped the hardware on the cnc controller.
Seriously this approach adds its own can of worms .

Never had an issue with soft limits.

Just got a Fox Alien WM3020 and trying to use UGS with it. Getting errors of Z axis soft lockout.
    Thanks for the video.

what happens when you have soft limits ans you have power loss, How do you machine know and grbl know and you cam program know what your actually position is. How do find grbl and your machine you coordinates back. how do find his min and max travel back. or lost he his way. and how do reset i than my home position. i am curious because i consider soft limits against physical switches . I am curious what happens if i have power loss. Is he than lost his way??

I have a Genmitsu 4030 cnc. Grbl 1.1h I use front, left, high as my machine home and set machine zero at that location. When i enable soft limits, any attempt to move into +positive space is ignored/no actioned and no error state.
Only physically enabled jog direction is in negative direction which then triggers hard limit error.
How do i resolve this? I don't have access to original firmware config files from manufacturer.

Thanks for posting the video. How did you select positive build for GRBL?

I have a hex file on my website under Demon controller diy instructions with 1.1f positive build.

Don't use hard limits: a way to crash your machine...

Nope. Soft limits take care of it. No need for hard limits.
