Yes, please--a pintuck video!
Very good video!! Thank you! and yes I would love to see some pintucks!! Do you use a special foot?
Would love a pin tuck video too. A simple question, I made a dress which had pleats but I noted that some were bigger than others. It took me forever to get them to match my bodice and I followed the pattern religiously. Therefore, if you cannot tell exactly from the photograph on the pattern and they do not state which type of pleat, as a novice how do I know exactly which way I do the pleats. Might sound silly but I am dyslexic too and it takes me awhile to really understand the patterns. What can you advise? I love your videos as you are professional, good detailed information and most complimentary that little old me will get it right. Thanks
ah... thank u for mentioning pin tucks... i think that's what i'm looking for... i have just made a dress with pleats but want to sew them down...
Lovely! Please do a pintuck video!
Yes, please, pintucks!!!!

Wondrous
Cute face, cute voice everything is so cute in this video. |) overload of cuteness lol. My lady this is a very good explanation with clear steps.
you make it look so easy! How much more fabric should I plan on buying if I want to add pleats to a pattern that does not show pleats? Thx Cath J
Interesting video , I've got to do pleats on my Rimmer Jacket Cosplay. It's a character from red dwarf. I've just got to decide how much extra fabric to allow and how many pleats I need.
Pintuck pleats, please & thank you!
Pin tucks please 🙏🏻
You used a blue marker to strike your lines. Just be aware that if you press over these lines, they will probably become permanent! Remove the marks with clear water before pressing.
What kind of marker pen are you using?
How can I gwr the pleats back into a skirt that's lost its pleats when washed?
How am I going to have to box pleats in the middle to cover up the joint of the short has to be pleaded like a short but look like a dress maybe that's it. I even went to eBay and looked up vintage sewing patterns but they don't even know what the word krulock means maybe I'm spelling it wrong but nothing comes close thank you again
This video is so helpful. I can’t believe some people disliked it
Is it possible to sow decent pleats by hand?
How far apart does the Accordian pleated have to be ?
Thank you. Nicely done. Does the vinegar/water setting fluid work on silk?
How do you do a curly hem at the bottom and top of a pleat? Like a wavy seemed bottom and top. It created a ruffle like look at the top around the neck and it’s wavy at the bottom. Kind of like the skirt on the far right but it’s seemed. Or seamed. Spelling?
I’m going to make a high neck sleeveless top in chiffon pleated fabric. I want to make a copy of a beautiful designer pleated top and skirt. It’s really flowy and wavy at the bottom. I’ve seen it lots of times in expensive and cheap tops.
The fabric I want to buy is already pleated but has straight edges. I want wavy edges. That’s what makes it special, this top.
Do you mean a lettuce hem? It's most commonly sewn on knits, and it might not work well with a pleat, but you can look up that technique to see. We don't have a tutorial for it, but there are some others out there. Good luck!
what are sunbust pleats ?
I remember there being a patternless skirt that involved buying a certain multiple of your waist measurement of fabric, then using a fork to create quick, even pleats. Anyone remember the details?
You and I both! However, I can't find it anywhere. I did find this czcams.com/video/2C6EbQQqw1A/video.html By Hand London has done a great how-to on the knife pleat with a fork. Assuming you know how to put a pattern together, right sides together, etc., instructions are: To make your skirt, take 3x your hip measurement (or tummy, if it is wider than your hips) plus 2" for ease and seam allowance, times width of fabric equal to your desired skirt length. Pleat fabric, and sew one end to secure the pleats. Cut a strip of fabric 3" wide, times length of your hip measurement plus 2" for ease and seam allowance. Fold in half lengthwise and press. Then open and press one long side 1/4" fold. Pin unpressed side of waistband to sewn edge of pleated fabric, right sides together and sew. Press seam up away from pleats. Sew the side seam from the waistband to the hem. Fold waistband down at the pressed halfway mark on the inside of the skirt and position the 1/4" fold so that it's just over the seam line. Leaving a couple inches open for the elastic, sew in the ditch from the top side, ensuring you're catching the folded edge on the inside. Insert the elastic and whipstitch the opening closed. Hem the skirt and twirl!
You know what? Ignore everything I wrote before! Seamwork's August pattern is a pleated skirt! And it's fabulous! Go to Seamwork.com and check it out. I would definitely make theirs rather than try a self-draft.
czcams.com/video/N2LMky7veaA/video.html fork pleating tutorial on you tube, also search for circle skirt measurements
I honestly skipped anything with pleats. I think I have a fighting chance now. Ty
wow how are you sewing over the metal sticks, I thought that was supposed to be avoided in case it flies out or jams the machine?
It all comes down to personal preference! If you're nervous about sewing over pins, you can remove them as you sew, or you could even use your machine's hand wheel to slowly sew over the pins.
my probleme is to cut the round hip, still having the pleats. Màking darts in the inside of the pleats don't work looking good.
I have had a double mastectomy , how do I get rid of the breast pleats so the tops are flat and not all distorted a sticking up? Please. Almost everything has this including the swimsuits: thank you,
Have you checked out this article: www.seamwork.com/issues/2019/10/bodice-adjustments-for-a-bilateral-mastectomy
Thank you and please PINTUCKS!!!!
Wish you would’ve used a different colored fabric for the demos, it was kind of hard to see what you were doing.
Haley, Why are you always using a walking foot?
Your accordion pleats are incorrect. An accordion pleat is when the distance between each line is the same. You were actually showing a smaller knife pleat.
You forgot to include pleat math.
oh your sewing over pins..don't do that not only can you break a needle but you can set your timing off really badly..also, you can hurt yourself. Knew of a lady who sewed over a pin and the needle broke, freak thing happened with the needle that if it was not for her eyeglasses the needle would have hit her eyeball..don't sew over pins..not a good thing.
Could you, please, show how to construct and press radiating pleats.I didn't understand how these would be made. Really interesting to learn the terms of pleats.
You have to manipulate the underpleat and make it smaller near the hem of the fabric.
