“You guys aren’t going to bully me right!?”
“Guess again, NERD!” Is my favorite line of dialogue in the entire game.
I was so sure they were going to take that out, since they censored so many of the previous dialogue.
The centerpiece of the main hub town is a NOOSE and it wasn’t censored. I think we’re fine
@@EntertainMeTV eh, there were little bits and pieces that bugged me. Gombella sticking up for herself with the catcalling. I didn’t think that really needed to change.
And they censored the Don’s line about Mario “fallin’ for some skirt.” Which is so classic mafioso, it was irritating.
But all in all, it’s a damn fine remake.
@@kingdancekillerapparently the japenese version still has that bit.
@EntertainMeTV eh a lot of dialogue moments were changed or softened. And actually we even lost a few dialogue text options...like in chapter 3 the "no jumping eggs bug me" was made to a generic "no way". I'm not sure why.
Short answer : Y-E-S
Long answer: *YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!*
yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes. It’s big yes all the way
MASTAPEEEEEEACE
Really!?!
Alex... do you know Paper Mario fans? You're playing with fire with that title
XD
Relax, they’re not Persona fans

The question isn't "Do fanatics like the game?" It's "Is the game as good as people are saying it is?" I know some people struggle with objectivity, but they can cry in a corner.
This is by far the best Mario RPG I have ever played.
People kept saying this game is good and I tried for the first time today.
It really is very good.
You know it's gonna be a good day when you hear "Helllllo there lovely peeeeeeeople, it's Alex from Nintendo Life here"
Omg it's Brian!! (And yes I agree frfr, always a great sign)
BRIAN YOU PLAY PAPER MARIO TTYD? ICONIC man your voices and faith are inspiring
For me, a good day is Friday rather than Thursday. Moreover, Felix will be streaming tomorrow.
Am I the only person who finds that annoying when he says that? 😅
Paper Mario is back baby! Paper Mario the Two Thousand Year Door for Switch 2!
"it's the same game but the door is like, WAY older."
Supposedly Through Datamining people found a code that might be similar to the PS4 Pro Upgrading from PS4(a 4K type of code)
It's on the first Switch.
It's for the first Switch.
@@cedrikthibert7033 It's a joke
Even M. Bison knows the answer to that is "Yes! YES!"
better than last 3 paper mario by a mile for sure
Short answer is yes, it was my first actual RPG series and years later despite playing a ton of different JRPG its still in my top 3 alongside Xenoblade chronicles series and the of mana series
@@nezahuatezexcept I also played it as an adult, this still holds true as I’m playing it as we speak lol
I love Paper Mario & The Thousand and Twenty-Year Door.
So excited to experience it for my first time
Did you experience it yet?
Why are people downplaying that there are THREE new bosses in the game? That is new content, and we should be happy about that!
because its not enough. like im happy for it (and i understand it given how much effort is put into the game) but paper mario games have notoriously small postgames
There are new bosses?? Holy shit they didn’t mention that. I am on the second world and am noticing already pipes that weren’t there previously, the base guy just chilling in front of the big tree. They did really think this through. I’m impressed
There’s also hours more content via how sluggish the text is and the inability to skip through it 😮
Only two and it's extremely lazy considering there's no hard mode and lots of small downgrades
@@goldgunscantshoot973 you could argue equipping double pain and unsimplifiers would be "hard mode" but realistically it's not. It's also hilarious the OP said there were 3 new bosses...I bet he thinks Atomic Boo is new lul
Felix's laugh at the very ends blends perfectly into the ending sound effect.. It's like a continuation of his laugh.
very well spotted
One simple answer: YES
Sea of stars REAL ending is amazing
the game looks really good
I was tempted to purchase Sea of Stars, but ultimately decided to save my money for UO.
Is not 🤣. The idea is good (like a lots of things of the Game), but the execution fails a littlw
Sea of stars was mediocre and forgettable 😂 Raise your standards a little
@@vvv7696 you’re entitled to your opinion for me who grew up loving RPGs it was wonderful
Played through Paper Mario 64 for the 1st time months ago, once the remaster for this was announced. If you love storytelling, then these games are for you. Paper Mario 64 was amazing from start to finish & I recommend it if you haven’t tried it. I’m very excited to finally play the 2nd installment in the series today! Happy launch day!!
Legitimately thought that this video would just be Zion going "Yes, of course it is, idiot." and then seventeen minutes of a black screen with no sound.
Someone else mentioned that there were like 4 new bosses; but sadly, it looks like there's only 2. But both the new bosses have some real fun gimmicks; sadly they're both seem too easy if you know strategy to take them out.
I still can't believe that they completely remade this game and I have it downloaded on my Switch rn. Totally surreal
I cannot believe you bought a digital copy of this classic remake ... Sad

Another game that I wanna give a shout out to for utilizing different arrangements of the same musical piece based on the environment is Twilight Princess. The music is incredible in that game and they use the same melody to such great effect in so many different locations.
Agreed. But no one did it better than FF7 remake. The way they remix the battle themes, every theme really, in that game is remarkable.
I dunno, hearing midna's lament all throughout the game in hyrule field's theme really took the impact away from when the theme plays properly when she's dying and you need to take her to zelda.
Thinking of picking this up. I loved n64 paper Mario and really enjoyed origami king and colour splash.
I loved PM 64 and TTYD. At times I enjoy PM64's simplicity a little more. It felt more tightly packaged and had better flow compared to TTYD. Mainly the issue was back tracking at times just felt tedious for the sake of padding not because it made sense.
I'll buy this and I still loved TTYD. I personally just enjoyed PM64 due to the tighter package it provided but TTYD was still a good follow up, something I haven't said about any other PM game since unfortunately. The series peaked in it's first two games.
I agree! The flow of PM64 feels so great.
I loved the game on Gamecube and played through it probably 20 times at least. Picked up the Switch version today and am having a ball. I unfortunately no longer have my Gamecube and game collection but some of my favorites have been remade or re-released (Paper Mario TTYD, Pikmin 1&2, Baten Kaitos). Now if we could get re-releases of the original Luigi's Mansion, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and possibly Mega Man X Command Mission, I'd be very happy.
edit: Maybe, we could also get a remake of Super Paper Mario from the Wii.
Well now those games you mentioned are on the Switch. So you don't have to worry about buying the system and the games so much.
When it comes to games like this, I’m in no rush to finish it, and it is so hard for me to do the same thing with paper Mario 64 right now, now that I’m on chapter 2 of it and I don’t want to rush past it to get to thousand year door so my mind is just exploding right now
I played the one on Wii and color splash. both were great. maybe I'll check this one when price drops
I played this game a ton when I was super young but I ended up getting stuck in the beginning section so I have nostalgia for this game but not alot of it
I've been emulating ttyd on my phone. The goal is to beat it before I buy my copy of the remake
I haven’t gotten into a single Mario rpg. 10 min of this game and I understand why it is easily the best of them
The first paper mario is even better. Give that one a shot and this one is paltry by comparison :D
Ttyd was the game that inspired me to becone an illustrator and create my own story, its fun but there are many dark aspects the makes the world so real and alive
This game is a combination of different genres done right. Puzzle, adventure, point and click style, rhythm (during battles), insane number of Mario customisation due to badges and companions (RPG). The paper aesthetic is part of the game, not just an artistic choice. The story is funny, heart-warming at times and very well written.
The only downside might be that it is relatively easy.
I watched my son play this on the GameCube when he was in middle school! One of my favorite games to watch! Maybe after I share this video with him he’ll get it for the switch!
Nintendo messed up my order so i haven’t got TTYD yet but my sibling has it but I will be ordering it from Nintendo, the bundle where you get the stage featured in the game, but please no spoilers as I want to play it first, I can’t wait to play TTYD on Switch as I didn’t own a GameCube so never played the original game which is very expensive now so getting it on Switch makes much more sense.
Yes! Buy the damn game! NINTENDO NEEDS TO LEARN!
I was over the moon when they announced this remake and I made sure it was a day one purchase. Easily the best Paper Mario game as well of one of the best games on the Gamecube.
I'm still playing this game all the way and so far, it did not disappoint me. Not only is the game still as good as it was before, but now with upgraded tweaks like skipping option, an warp room to make backtracking less annoying, new content, etc., it makes the game even better than before. Like with Metroid Prime Remastered, the remake on the Switch is the superior version of playing The Thousand Year Door and I'm so happy this remake turns out so good right now. Hopefully this will bring Paper Mario back into it's glory game and makes the next game as spiritual to the gameplay as the first 2 Paper Mario games were. Now if only we had an Paper Mario 64 Remake and give it the same treatment as TTYD has, than I'll be super perky.
Like Twice will say... YES or YES, Mario here is GOD!
No, Mario isn't God, literally or metaphorically.
I can’t even believe we are getting it on Switch. Just unreal.
Anyone remember bobby the bob bomb from origami king? That was so sad what happened to him. Does this game have any moments like that?
I dont know about Origami King, but Paper Mario 2 deals with many serious topics, for example death and addiction.
TTYD was always considered the greatest Mario game, and game in general for the console, by audiences (besides Sunshine). Paper Mario series deviating afterwards was the beginning of this decades long wave of frustration from fans with Nintendo and their not using their IPs to their full potential.
PAPER MARIO/Mario & Luigi FOR SMASH WHEN?! DO IT SAKURAI
I have the original and I played it a few months ago. If this had a hard mode I'd buy it day 1 but maybe I'll wait for a sale
They really just need to patch in some game speed tweaks and it’s nearly perfect. I wish the battle ui had more soul!
Why is there a pause upon opening battle sub menus
I don't need new content or a good framerate. I just want to play it
I just finished this game for the very first time, and now it holds the honor of being my favorite game of all time.
PLAY THIS GAME PLEASE
Yes
Well Super Mario Rpg was the first Mario RPG... Thousand year door was the third so there would be improvements to the mechanic.
It's amazing but its been some years since i replayed it so i was shocked to play the new version and see how much backtracking there is. To be honest the only 2 points i remember being like that were twilight town and general white but man does it have backtracking in almost every chapter, sometimes it even feels on purpose to artificially enlarge the playtime.
The last one that happened to me was Jolene's side quest to pick up like 20 used trousers, each with their own picking animation, having then delivered to a goomba in rogueport and then back to Jolene just for her to hand us 30 coins. What a pain in the ass that was. And its one of maaaaaaany. The game didnt age well in that regard. I feel like if it was a new paper mario game it would absolutely get destroyed by how bad it gets
Yes, it's an excellent game! Paper Mario: TTYD was the last great Paper Mario game because it stuck to classic JRPG mechanics with a unique battle system and paper art style. Mario explores new lands, teams up with former enemies and I enjoyed the humorous story. This sequel built on the N64 original, adding more content and improvements. Unfortunately, later games, like the Wii version, shifted to platforming and are abysmal compared to the mainline Mario platforming games. I've waited 20 years to replay TTYD and it's even more fun now than when I was 12. I hope they make another game with TTYD's mechanics.
What did y'all get, a physical or digital copy?

Answer for ur thumbnail..... "IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THAT GOOD"
Nintendo you need to do better on the FPS if you expect 60$ for a 20 year old. I mean between 30FPS and 60FPS, there's different when it comes to lag & tearing.
Cry more
@@BrainWasherAttendent Do better on a constructive response.
I'll give you one more thing to be irked about if u care about this; The remake runs at 900p docked and 640p handheld
@@jonathanm2310To be constructive, knowing how the directions of the last PM games were, this seem a completely intentional decision for Intelligent Systems.
You see, It seems that It was discovered that this Game is gonna be backwards compatible with the Switch 2, and that is gonna be 4K resolution (huh, impresive) but no glance of doubling the framerate.
Its sure is a decision, and Maybe the devs would want to pronunciate for this.
Of course it’s really that good! It’s flipping Paper Mario TTYD! It’s like looking at a diamond-encrusted necklace worth millions and being like “is it really that good?”🤔
This comment is mostly in jest btw, since I’m aware the title is just part of a series.
Did ya get a physical or digital copy?
@@X2.SilentI always get physical for the games I buy, unless it’s digital-only.
longtime xenoblade fan here to give input on that comment about XCDE’s extra content! don’t worry alex lol we were all underwhelmed. the side story was largely seen as “this feels like a middling xenoblade rom hack but apparently it relates to future games so we gotta play it”, and all the time attack stuff in the main game was worse than in xc2’s time attack mode.
im having a blast with paper mario tyd so far
i was trying to decide between this and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and i went with Ghostbusters.
well, ill get paper mario for my next game purchase :)
Always preferred the original. TYD is slow to get going and has some draggy parts. Still *really* good, but not the end-all-be-all to me.
It weird, I was able to get into Mario RPG and Mario and Luigi but I couldnt get Paper Mario.
They are all similar but Paper Mario never got me.
Origami King was my first and I might have liked that one better. Both are great and leave me wanting more. I don’t care about traditional RPG mechanics which TTYD certainly has over OK. I care about the charm, writing, and colorful craftsmanship. I found OK a step up with those. The backtracking in TTYD gets old.
How many Mario rpgs are there, are they all connected?
I want an Alex update post playing this game!
YES it is! 😆
this game is about to make me finally get a switch, as if smash and the gen 4 remake didn't already almost make me do so
Can Alex stream the game so we can see his live reaction?
Currently, Felix's live stream is the only one available.
I bought it yesterday and I rarely buy Switch games unless it’s a big release or something worth replaying.
The only paper mario game I couldn't play because of prices on ebay and now.....IM EXCITED 😆
Would a Final Fantasy fan enjoy this and/or Mario RPG? Any feedback would be appreciated
Yes but keep in mind you can tweak your character to the extremes
I believe so😮
If you like a bit of humor in an RPG this is definitely the one to get!
I absolutely love the music in this game!
In the assist characters are very lovable and very memorable!!!

Ofc it’s that good! I’m in the parking lot of GameStop now grabbing my preorder. No bonuses this time which is so lame. Anyway I won’t be doing anything this beautiful warm sunny Memorial Day wknd. I’m staying inside playing my favorite 20 year old game.
I already have this game on gamecube, is it worth buying remake?
It depends if you wanna re-live those moments again but in beautiful visuals and added bosses. Otherwise I'd wait for a sale.
Added some QoL tht mitigates backtracking a bit and other things, added ALOT more music (like each chapter area has its own unique battle theme now, or depending on which area of Rogueport or building ur in it will use diff version the towns theme) and variations of certain music, 3 new post-game bosses, etc.
So honestly up to u.
I still have my gamecube copy. I had a voucher leftover (the pay $100 get any two games if you have online one) and don't regret doing it. The npc toad "battle master" which allows you to practice your action timing so seamlessly to lab out timing for stylish multi bounces and the updated graphics is very cool. But yeah nothing major in terms of updates tho post game supposedly an extra minor boss or two.
Also upside is now the game is playable on the go / handheld for switch a downside for people on big screens and really used to hardcore speedrunning might be glitch patching or timing loss bc 30 fps but for the vast majority of people not an issue.
Yes it’s that good
Kinda wish we had a Remake of Paper Mario 64 as well but at least Paper Mario 64 is available on the N64 Switch Online

Yep just the One Piece....of paper
The Paper Piece! The Paper Piece is real!!!!!
As someone who never played a paper Mario game . Is it worth it? I only played RPG
It's definitely worth it, trust.
Much better than the GameCube version, put a lot of Saxophone, Violins and other orchestral instruments in, plus it looks better in textures and visuals, gave the Paper Mario TTYD remake a 9.7 on GameCube it's 9.1 I gave it back then, Still extremely high it deserves, another note I think the action commands are a little bit off though, you have to press A just before Mario jumps on an enemy this time around, don't know if the A button works well or that I suck at it whatever. It was precise on Gamecube when Mario is about to land on an enemy for pressing A.

It's a classic obviously - but think the bigger issue here is Nintendo charging $60 (full price) for what is essentially largely the same game as before with minuscule alterations and barely any additions.

A dang remaster is better than last three full games combined
we just gotta hope it sells well enough for nintendo to make another paper mario with the same mechanics and feel of TTYD!
Felix, how dare you speak ill of Sea of Stars!? 😮
How is TTYD different from Paper Mario on 64? It looks a little nicer but seems like it’s exactly the same gameplay, battle system, etc.
Overall the gameplay is much the same. However, nearly every single thing was improved upon in some way. The gameplay in and out of battle has been more refined and given several layers of complexity that 64 did not have; such as partners having HP, more badges, an audience, and a better experience yield. The battles are quite possibly twice as difficult as 64 was too much of a cakewalk aside from two specific fights, with this game having several "normal baddies" being genuinely challenging.
The story has been improved upon in every way. 64 laid the ground work and of course had a simplistic storyline (the generic Peach gets captured by Bowser trope) but this game goes above and beyond that.
And this isn't counting the graphical improvement, the control and UI improvement, and much much more.
I really like Paper Mario 64 but I LOVE this game.
@@Jack_TheSkyWriter thanks for that! I played Paper Mario 64 and loved it, I started TTYD 25 years back, got a bit into it and then moved on for some reason, perhaps I felt it was very similar to 64, at least what I had played so far. Was just curious why TTYD was considered the ultimate best Paper Mario and the 64 version was never getting any mention, being very similar in a lot of ways. 🍻
@@tonyrosario1940
Paper Mario 64 is definitely loved but it's really the difference between a game that gets a 9 out of 10 vs a game that gets a 10 out of 10, at least to most of the fans. Nobody is downplaying or dissing 64, at least not many, but most of the fans of the franchise just find that TTYD is the perfect sequel. Improving on nearly everything but still very much the same style game.
If you do decide to try it again, I hope you enjoy it! And even if you still like 64 better, which is absolutely valid, you'll definitely like this game!
@@Jack_TheSkyWriter yes, I will be revisiting it, I have to! I remember liking it for sure, just got swept aside at that time. Appreciate you taking the time to educate. 🍻
@@tonyrosario1940you might've seen the similarity in chapter design. such as chapter 1 in both games being grassland with castle. but this game has better fights, hugely improved story, and interesting puzzles
I would of rather got super paper mario from the wii but so far im liking this game. The combat is pretty repetitive though. I like it better than oragami king though. I couldn't handle the battle system on it. It was just kinda bland to me. Its a mario game though and ill take it. The 60 bucks for a remake is a little steep also.
