Get ready for another THROWDOWN! We’ve been talking about this one for a while… basically ever since Brian got me a Yonanas for Christmas last year. As it would happen, I have the Yonana, Vitamix, and an Omega Juicer. Without question, hesitation, or doubt, the juicer is by far and away the winner. Easily makes tremendous "nice cream" quickly and clean up is a breeze. Keeps stress off the Vitamix and I gave away my Yonana.
Too bad Vitamix is 400+ dollars!
Have you ever tried just blending the bananas without freezing them and then freezing the whole thing after? It would seem like the blending part would be so much easier.
Yonanas may be cheaper but is a single use device vs vitamix that makes soups, smoothies, sauces, purees
Good point!
Yes, it's another appliance that takes up space and only makes one thing. That is why I got rid of my air fryer and bought a multi-purpose toaster oven that does EVERYTHING.
I love my Vitamix.
But it really tastes like soft serve with banannas
I freaking love our Vitamix. Our original one we had lasted 20 years, used almost daily. We had to replace the container once in that period of time when it cracked. We finally had to get a new Vitamix just last year. They're expensive but they are definitely an investment. (This comment is not sponsored.)
My personal fave nice cream: bananas, dark sweet cherries and cocoa powder. Yum!
Ditto!!!
I love this combo as well as substituting blueberries for the cherries. Blueberries and choc.= yummy!
I love making nice cream.
If I want extra treat I add to the frozen bananas a large amount of raw cacao,
Some salt, and some crunchy pure peanut butter.
I know it is not perfectly healthy but it is unbelievable.
You just have to tweak the quantities of cacao, salt and crunchy peanut butter to taste.
I have used the yonanas for years. Adding different frozen fruit with bananas is good especially strawberries. And yes the texture changes depending on the time you thaw out the bananas. I can't afford a vitamix so this works for me.
I can't wait to try it with other fruit!!
I love mixing frozen cherries in! So good.
Can you just blend the bananas without freezing them and then just put the mixture in the freezer? Then you could just use an immersion blender and not have all of the noise and mess.
I’ve made banana soft serve in my food processor, it works great
You could argue that the Vitamix costs less. Most WFPB folks have a high-speed blender, so the Yonanas is just an additional cost.
I only have $25 Oster, yet I rarely use the yonanas based on price of all the fruit needed to yield the anount I want.
I’m with you. Given the number of times I’ve used my vitamix, the cost per use over the years is so small. I use it for so many things. A yonanas is just another machine taking up space...
Plus you can add peanut butter to the bananas in the vitamix...
I have a blendtec. Great blender but not the best for nicecream but if I add a touch of nut milk it works (unless I add too much).
The Vitamix ppl are evil. How can they justify that cost? It should clean my house daily for the insane price. I barely use my food processor.
If you each vote same, there should be 2 checks in that box since there are 2 checks counted when you disagree
So happy you did this - I've had a Yonanas in my online shopping cart for ages! (I already own a Vitamix, which is why I held off on buying the Yonanas.) This has convinced me to stick with the Vitamix mainly because I want to add different flavors to my nice cream (like coffee!) You two are amazing! Thank you for such a thorough comparison. Cheers!
Epic throwdown! We’ve been waiting for this one. And so thorough! Sweet dance moves too, Jessica!
This is one of the most thorough product reviews I've seen. Thank you!
Thanks, Jessica and Brian! Great Throwdown! I was so curious to see this one, because I have a vitamix and recently bought the Yonanas, because I just thought it would be so convenient! but if I were to rewrite history, I think I would have just stayed with the vitamix, for all the reasons you discussed...so it was so cool to see what your impressions were :-) Love you!
Enjoyed the 4th throwdown video. Thank you, these were fun.
Hi there. Haven’t finished watching yet but wanted to tell Brian that he’s looking very slender! Is that a fitted t-shirt? Yay!! Jessica, you look fabulous too! Love to you both!
I thought that too.
Same. Gotta be Vitamix, hands down. It was 2 years before I could justify the price ($225 reconditioned) and I’ve used it at least twice a day for 7 years. Best appliance in my home!
For an appliance you use that often, I’d call that a serious bargain
You all are so fun! Great content!!
Great job helped me alot, Krocks Rock!
I love your videos every single time! So entertaining! Just a note for people who want that Vitamix nicecream texture but don’t have or can’t afford the Vitamix, the Nutribullet works very very well! :)
Good tip!
Interesting I have both. I’ll give it a try in the nutribullet!
Yup, I use my nutribullet as well. Comes out great! However I do slice the bananas a lot thinner.
Very fun way of presenting the video! Great video.
Mint chip nice cream: one drop peppermint essential oil into the Yonanas chute first. Half a frozen banana, half a teaspoon cocoa nibs, repeat until you have as much as you want to eat! Really reduces the banana flavor.
You can do this in the Vitamix, but don't add the cocoa nibs until the last second or they'll be so microscopic you'll never notice them.
(Recipe adapted from High Carb Hannah.)
DO NOT PUT ESSENTIAL OIL IN FOOD! ITS POISON! PLEASE, you peppermint extract (like vanilla extract)
@@prestonwhite6423 the National Institutes of Health have published, "Peppermint oil appears to be safe when taken orally (by mouth) or applied topically in the doses commonly used. Peppermint oil has been safely used in many clinical trials."
However! Research ANY non-food through reputable sources before ingesting, buy only food-grade oils, and be a rational human being. Something you use a single drop of, once a week or less, is not necessarily something you want to consume in large quantities on a daily basis.
I researched both peppermint extract and peppermint essential oil and determined that I preferred the oil to the alcohol for my own personal use.
Back in the seventies, family got a couple Champion juicers. The quality, quietness, easy cleaning were all good, but the banana soft serves and the sweet carrot juice, sold me.
Hello! I was ready to make a lifestyle change and your channel has been so helpful. I just got back from the grocery store and I'm going to start tomorrow. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure. Time for me to start mine.
How is it going?
You guys look awesome !!! Love the shirt/ sweater... so cool !! What a cute doggie 🐶!! This video is amazing!! Great job guy’s , editing !!
That was fun. I'm so glad you did this because I have been really curious about the Yonanas machine! I have a basic model vitamix and I'm happy with how my nicecream comes out, so I don't need another appliance.
You are an inspiration to me. I've been struggling with my weight for years now. Thank you for sharing your wonderful videos
Jessica, your vitamix cleaning dance and soapy smoothie description was amazing. 😁
Thank you guys for the review!! I already have a vitamix and love it, but were considering getting the yonanas and after this video I have decided to not get the yonanas and to just use my vitamix!!!! I really appreciate your videos!!!👏👏🙌♥️
I just got an A3500, First day I made a smoothie with protein powder, Another smoothie for the kids with yogurt, Then I made Vegetable soup, Fruit sorbet, and then a protein shake. hehe And lots of self cleaning. I love it! I waited a really long time for a Vitamix too. My biggest regret was waiting. Everyone who is improving their health needs one.
where did the cute pink and blue containers come from?
Glad you guys addressed adding other flavors.
Great video! I have always used my food processor from the 80’s and it makes great nice cream. But I appreciate the test comparison!
I have a vitamix (and had a Yonanas in the past)-I still prefer my $25 food processor!
I broke my food processor lid when I made nice cream recently. Not the machines fault-I didn’t wait long enough for the bananas to thaw. But I used to use it for nice cream and it worked well-just thaw that frozen fruit a bit first.
How??
If anyone has a Champion Juicer at home, it makes great nice cream too!
Y'all are awesome!
You guys are so darn cute! I can’t wait to try several version in my Vita-mix!
I could listen to Brians voice for ages. Love this video guys. Fun.Cute dance moves Jessica.
🥝🥝🥝
You 2 always crack me up. You 2 look really good! Keep it up!🙃
🍌🍦❤️ Great video!! You two are so much fun!
It’s like you made the video I needed. I was tempted to get a yonanas, but was hesitant because it’s another appliance. I have a vitamix, I guess I already have a good nice cream maker! Yay! Great video and saved me money.
Thank you both for doing this challenge! I already have a Vitamix and didn't even think about making frozen fruit in it. I initially tried to buy a Yonanas (luckily they're sold out right now). Thank you for saving me money and space. P.S. I love the announcer voices!
Thank you so much for this video! I was just wondering about getting a yonanas, wondering if it was worth the footprint I’m my very small kitchen. I’ll stick with my vitamix. Keep up the good work! Love your channel!
This was fun guys :)
Omg, you both look amazing.
Awesome! We do use a Vitamix and love our nice cream!
Both YoNanas machines I’ve purchased, I picked up second hand. I’ve gone to using my new Vitamix and agree that it is better than the YoNanas, but also agree the YoNanas is a great contender.
i didn’t know i needed this video until it popped up in my recommended, haven’t started the video yet but excited to see if i should put my vitamix on the back burner & get a yonanana machine!
Super glad you did this showdown...my Yonanas machine recently died, and I haven't been able to replace it (like you mentions, sold out!) and I haven't tried making nice cream in my blender before. I'm glad the Vitamix won, cause I have one! yay!
Guys, you win on best fashion in this video! 💛💛💛💛 LoL love the throw down vibes 😂😂😂
Vitamix owner and was contemplating a Yonanas purchase; thanks for saving me some dollars!
I love my Yonana's! I have two of 'em in case one breaks. I am sure that the Yonana's was meant for soft-serve not to be re-frozen. I also love adding different frozen fruit and nuts.
how do u do nuts in a yonanas mate? how do they like come out please??
exactly, that’s where they went wrong,
they froze a “soft serve” dessert.
no one refreezes soft serve because it will crystallize.
Yonanas was not designed to refreeze bananas. also, if you want to just blend bananas into a creamy form a nutri bullet is cheaper and does the job
I just got a Yonanas and the texture is wayyy better on it. I don’t understand how but it’s a lot better
@@CastledarkDweller27 I add them afterwards.
Can you make different flavors in Yonanas like chocolate banana, or strawberry banana? Seems like that’d be easier in blender
I'm just getting started with WFPB eating, but I have to say I freaking loooove my vitamix. I've used it for nice cream, date milk & soup. The soup was crazy good and so dang easy.
date milk ? I am looking that up....we gave up animal products in Feb. still learning myself. I have made frosting out of dates lol.
I got my Vitamix at Costco a few years ago for $299 brand new. We use it all the time! It's well worth the investment.
I've been considering getting a Yonana maker for a long time, but I just can't put out the money for it when I have a Vitamix sitting right here. I'm so glad to know the Vitamix reigns Supreme! Also, I never considered the milti-use of the Vitamix vs. the Yonana maker. Duh! I think I'll save my money for when it's time to get a new Vitamix! I've had my re-conditioned one for a long time now. Thanks so much for making this video! It was fun and informative. 💕
Such a great challenge! So organized and I loved the announcer 🌱. How’s the weight loss going? You both look great!
You guys are awesome
Thanks!
I've had Yonanas for years. Love it. I use almost every missed fruit mixed in with banana. I also use frozen vegetables mixed in.
Do the flavors mix good? Or is it kinda separate like part banana then part strawberry? In blender it all gets blended together. Wondering If there’s a big difference
@@milliem8051 if you add the frozen fruit in all at the same time it will be mixed. You can control how you want it
Yay it’s a throw down!!!
I had a Yonanas and gave it away. Ugh. The Vitamix is great, but you’re missing the true champion of Nice Cream, THE CHAMPION JUICER. It’s better than anything on the market.
So we’ve heard!! Brian it’s time to get another appliance 😂😂😂
@@KrocksInTheKitchen I got mine used off of Craigslist.
Yes - please do a Vita Mix vs Champion Juicer throw down!
I was going to say something similar. My juicer had an amazing attachment for "sorbet" in addition to being a great juicer but it's not cheap and when it comes to being lazy for clean up the Vitamix still wins.
I have the Tribest Slowstar.
www.amazon.com/dp/B0718SWL51/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0Z8aFbYEHRP6M
Yep, had a banana ice cream from a vegan expo and they had this juicer but it's expensive and it would probably be the only thing I would use it since I
You gotta try peach sherbet/ice cream too. I suppose in vitamix you could do just peaches for sorbet, but for sherbet you need to add a little coconut milk and maple syrup/sweetener. It’s so good. I love fruit soft serve, I’m gonna make it all summer long
Love the vitamix! Best appliance we purchased 10 years ago. Thanks for sharing, love you both!
ps-are the red and blue dishes used glass? Where can we find them? So cute!
Thanks for the video! I have a refurbished vitamix and I love it. Bananas, dark cherries cacao powder and a little cinnamon is my fav. nice cream.
That sounds so good
I’ve had a Vitamix for a while and just got a Yonanas when I was quarantine shopping. I don’t think I would care for just bananas so maybe the Vitamix will win in the end. Love your videos, your weight loss is phenomenal. Thanks for the recipes, the humor and the encouragement to get on this WFPB eating plan.
I love my vitamin, which I got on sale at Sams. I had a Yonnanas and got rid of it for all th3 same reasons you stated. Great video as usual
I am new to your channel and loving every minute of it. Great throwdown. I don't have either of those appliances -- but giving some heavy thought to a Vitamix. For now, it's ye ol food processor. How do you think your Cuisinart would stand up to the nice cream test? Thanks :)
Loved the video. Stay safe beautiful people.
My kids love banana nice cream with frozen strawberries, pineapple, banana and the juice of one whole lemon. It tastes like rainbow sherbet! We use the vitamix. Thanks for the video:)
I actually make the frozen bananas in my food processor. I'm sure the vitamix is great. On fixed income so not an option for a while. Thanks, your videos are inspiring. I have been on Bright Line Eating since 2018, and am not at goal weight. Ups and downs especially with this Covid-19 pandemic. Keep up the good work. I couldn't believe how much better I felt within the first two weeks of eating right.
Hwy, Sandra, try haunting your local thrift shop. I got my Yonanas for $4.99!
This video is really funny!
oh my gosh your dog is so cute!!!!! you make your nice cream in a minute?? I need a vitamix!
Love the throwdown epIsodes
I did get a yonanas ,,but went back to my vitamix and onsold the yonanas 👌🍌🍌 cheers from Oz🌻. Great demo
Yo! I got a reconditioned Vitamix as well.. Love it! Makes the best hummus in the world. And creamy dressing and smoothies and soups and on and on. We live in a Motorhome so every appliance MUST be a multitasker. I use it for meal prep every week and in between as well.
I like making nice cream in my food processor. Always turns out amazing
I got my Vitamix from QVC. They had it as a special value one day so I scooped it up! I use it all.the.time!
I absolutely LOVE my yonana machine. I do also have a high-speed blender, but for nice cream I do prefer my yonana machine. I have had both the version you have in this video and the elite version, there is not much difference.
I love nice cream with bananas because its so creamy, but if you like sorbet then you can use any fruit. I do often use mixed berries, mangos, and strawberries to mix in with my frozen berries.
Great video! I always avoided the vitamix because of the noise level. I, too, like to blend at 5:30am. 🤣 I also try to avoid excess appliances. Out of curiosity though, how is the yonanas noise level in comparison?
I have a yohannas and a vitamix. For a real special treat sometimes I like to add a little natural peanut butter to the nice cream. It is yummy! Hey Jessica for your chocolate fix for your Hersey peanut butter cup flavour add coco powder with the peanut butter and see what happens. It might work.
Thank you for this video. I had a Yonanas and I donated it last week because I am trying to declutter my kitchen and I figured that I can use the Vitamix for the same purpose. The Vitamix is so useful to me because I can make so many things in it including vegan milks, soups, green smoothies, etc.
Also, I have had my Vitamix for about 15 years. It is a great appliance.
Fantastic! I can find raw organic cocoa which if sprinkled on top of the nice cream is great or you can just go ahead and mix it with the banana cream before refrigerating. Cocoa is the base for chocolate, it's an excellent antidepressant and puts people in a good mood! 😉😆😊
You guys are the cutest things, not to mention peef as your side kick! Just personality plus! Love your channel! From the ❤️ Vicki in Virginia 😇💐💙😁
We bought our reconditioned Vitamix with the 5 year warranty included from their website at at amazing price. And it does dozens of different things. Like cook plant based soups!!
Jessica’s dance intermission was appreciated!
Great video. I am new to your channel and subscribed. Interested to see your other videos! Thank you!
i freeze coconut milk in ziploc bags, then put the chunks through the yonana maker for a creamier nice cream. Also..i very much like the ripple effect of yonana maker in that it doesn't over mix the flavours and i add the chunks of chocolate at the end. u guys are fun!
I've had my vitamix for over 15 years and LOVE it...I use it multiple times a day. My in-laws have one that's over 40 years old and still going strong. They cost more up front but it's the last blender you'll ever need!
Thank you so much for the video. I got a Yonana for Christmas. For me, it's perfect because I am a lazy cook, and the Vitamix is just too much work. For those unable to afford the Vitamix, Instant Pot now makes one that I am very happy with. It is able to crush the flax seeds for my green smoothies. The container is glass instead of plastic which makes it easier to clean but risks breaking if not careful. I purchased it from Walmart for $99.
Edit: I have put Strawberries and Blueberries through the Yonana, and I have mixed the end product with coco to make chocolate.
I make a triple berry chocolate chip ice cream with the yonana. I alternate banana, berries, mini chips. Comes out wonderfully blended and creamy. Oh I never don’t let the bananas defrost at all!
My parents leave their bananas out while they eat dinner and use the yonanas right after and the consistency is perfect. I got my refurbished VitaMix from Amazon for $269.99 several years ago and it was one of the best purchases I have ever made!!
Great video! Currently, I use my trusty Cuisinart Food Processor for nice cream. You can process it for longer and it gives a nice whipped texture, if desired. Add vanilla bean paste. Or add liquor for flavor and to keep it from freezing too hard. I have the Pro Custom 11. This is a useful tool because it also makes oil-free hummus super quick and shreds or slices veggies, or makes fresh salsa or guacamole.
I love my Omega horizontal juicer for making nice cream. For my grandkids, it can dispense directly into a cone, like a softserve machine. Easy to clean too. We had a Champion Juicer when I was a kid, and I prefer the Omega for nice cream and juicing. I have a Blendtec blender and I can't stand using it to try to make nice cream. And, I even bought a tamper stick for it on Amazon.
Yonanas is great if you have a crappy oster blender and are too stubborn to upgrade
I love my Vitamix...work horse! it makes the best nice cream....and so much more...being a raw vegan, I use the Vitamix everyday!
Thanks for the fun Throwdown! I agree and actually gave away my Yonanas machine due to space limits. Also thanks for making a lot of videos 30 min or less on most.
Thank you very much! We try to keep them shorter. It doesn't always happen but we certainly try. 😁
@@KrocksInTheKitchen I LOVE and watch ALL of your videos. Thanks for giving us all a variety of shows and lengths.
The Vitamix would incorporate air which the yonanas didn’t. I think that makes a big difference in final product.
Do you have a champion juicer, or a green star or green power? Fabulous soft serve nice cream, and so many other uses as well.
Great video. Well done; nice editing. We have a stainless container Vitamix that I already owned when we got married in 1990. We use it a lot. Not exactly sure when I bought it. I’d say early ‘80s. I was wondering about the Yonanas machine, but after watching this, I realize it would be of limited use and hard to clean. The cleaning was the deal-breaker for me.
Brian, your thought about using frozen vegetables spurred a thought of perhaps an eloté nice cream. Hmm, I may have to try that.
Of course I was just saying earlier today that I needed to make a list of vegan ice creams to try making, and here CZcams is, trying to spoon-feed me these videos. LOL!
What if you want to add cocoa powder? Does that work with yonanas machine?
In the Vitamix I like to add frozen, bananas, sesame seeds, dates, a dropper of Sweet Life Vanilla Creme, and plant based milk. Makes a malted milk shake. Yum!!!
