Woohoo, you went to Mr White and Mr Black's Stall (the Roast Duck and mixed meat noodles) at Maxwell Food Centre :) They are such great characters. To be fair, the Michelin Star was awarded to their Tokyo location, which is a separate restaurant, not a shopping center restaurant.
I agree, I have been to this ramen restaurant, don’t think worth the price.

The famous Chicken and Rice stall Anthony Bourdain visited, I don't understand the hype. It was ok, the duck rice place across from it I enjoyed so much more.
:) that's ok. everyone has their own opinion on different dishes. duck rice is pretty tasty though 😋
You can try singapore 24 hours prawn noodle its located at dickson road the broth is superior 😁 the stall name is called ah hock prawn noodle

My two favourite hawker centres in Singapore
The first time I had Hototogisu was back in 2017 when it was a small shop in Hatagaya.
I shouldn't be watching this right before bed... :( the food looks so good, I can't stop thinking about it!
What’s the best day/time to visit the hawker stalls? When we went to some hawkers stalls prepandemic, almost all stores were close 😂

to be honest the michelin star ramen is AT BEST on the same level as ippudo... which begs the question of where is ippudo star/s?
U shud visit Geylang Serai for Authentic Malay food .Recommended Hajjah Maimunah Restaurant at Joo Chiat Road and also Geylang Serai food centre.
Also if u love Japanese food u shud visit Mellenia Walk Bcoz so Many Japanese Restaurants n Cafe located there.

These mala xiang guo places are so overpriced. They have similar ingredients with yong tau hu. But triple to 5x more expensive.

Major mistake to watch when I'm starving, lol. We just got home from a Halloween fundraiser at the kiddo's school (we took pictures) and the gave us meh pizza, chips and warm water but it was so busy we didn't have time to eat. This is making me and the kiddo drool!

It's basically a savoury taste. Like the taste of meat.
Umami is just the natural essence--or flavor, if you will--of a particular food. It need not be seafoody or meaty. It need not be savory, although in most cases it is. In other words, sweet preparations could have umami: coffee has umami and so do chocolate. The reason why umami is associated with savory foods is because the ingredients that magnify flavors (intensify umami), like salt and soy sauce, make foods taste savory. Fermenting--and aging--does intensify flavors, so it does amplify umami: fermented soy beans, kimchi, fish sauce, and aged cheeses all have an intensity of flavor.
