Multimeters Comparison Innova and Centech and Dielectric Grease Resistance in Connectors

Compared voltage readings and background resistance of 4 digital volt/ohm meters under $25 from three different brands commonly found at automotive and hardware stores. These were CenTech, Innova and Sperry. Innova was most stable and showed least background ohms and CenTech gave higher voltage readings and high background ohms.
Connectors with or without Vaseline or di electric grease showed same values as background. Their resistance is practically negligible in tight metal connections.

Diodes are tricky devices, the voltage drop will depend on the amount of current flowing, so for a fair test of a 1n4001-7 1 amp diode, place it inline with a 12v bulb of around 10-12 watts for a rough current of one ampere if connect to 12v d.c, then measure the diode drop (mind your fingers its hot lol ).

+zx8401ztv :Thanks for your suggestion. // Innova multimeter is pretty good for its price for simple automotive measurements. Its readings match with those of a calibrated expensive Fluke meter. I have not uploaded that video.

I found your sight with google search. Please excuse my ignorance but is it ok to use DE Grease on the fitings to prolong the life or is it detrimental.

Nice to watch this video. Thanks for this presentation. I am using Fluke multimeter and now confused the accuracy. Can I calibrate with Innova !!!!!

Fluke is a good multimeter, pretty reliable and accurate, unless it was damaged.
