I've just found your channel although I follow you on Instagram . It's great to have a Victorian based garden on You Tube. I'm from Warrnambool on the south west coast of Victoria and although the climate is a little cooler than Melbourne it's still a great guide . Another excellent video, your garden is so wonderfully exotic 🙂. Time for my own suggestion to you (how about that!). Anyway... the first sunflower looks suspiciously like a lurking triffid, so trim any stingers you see. If it starts walking about whacking people, calmly reason with it before mulching it for dry soil and revenge.

That garden bed looks amazing! Can I ask how many hours of direct sunlight it receives each day? It's recommended that a lot of vegetables should receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day, but with the Melbourne summer climate, I'm wondering if that's really necessary? Loving the channel btw, so good to see some Melbourne related gardening content on CZcams :)

Thank you Saje! This is our sunniest bed but in general we are in a very shady garden with many tall established trees on our north border in our neighbour's yard. And yes it is a fallacy that more sun is better in Australian summers, that advice really comes from British gardening and holds true in much cooler climates than ours. We've certainly pushed the boundaries of what you can grow with much much less direct sun than that in our yard. In fact, we find having lots of vertical structures helps give plants a bit of protection in our harsh summer sun. Glad to meet another Melbourne gardener 💚
