What is your favorite riding Boot or Shoe?

I had/have a pair of the Midland riding shoes and they were absolutely amazing for riding "shoes", they are comfortable, well made, waterproof and just an all around good shoe for riding. They survived a motorcycle accident where I was ran over by a car and launched through the air. The shoes got banged up, but my feet were untouched and completely in tact. I would buy them again in a heart beat and will probably buy another pair when the insurance finally coughs up the cheddar for the gear that I was wearing at the time. I can't say enough good about them especially for the price! They also come in a gray colour too.

Great looking boot. Those heavy motorcycle boots wear on you. I do like a zipper on the side. I got the indie ridge boot and so far light weight and comfortable. I’ll check out those boots. Take care 🤘

See if you can move the heel towards the toe. The shank that joins the toe cup to the heel is very important.

I went that route 2 years ago. Your video is on point. I don't need a zipper but it would be a nice option. Love these shoes

I too bought a pair of them. Absolutely loved them. They got banged up in an accident but they did an incredible job protecting my feet. They are still wearable, but I'll likely grab another pair of them!

I like the mid-height design but would prefer side zipper as well. I’m also not crazy about the white sole. I just got the Indie Ridge Risky boot and am loving them so far. Great review Mike!

Thanks I am not big on white sole but I have gotten used to them now..

I have to agree that they are great boots. I recently went away for 4 days with riding all day and walking around at a bike show and had no complaints. They were the only boots/shoes I packed so running them out for dinner with jeans was sweet as well.

Ive tried alot of different riding boots/shoes. I can say my Bates Tasers have been the best of em all. Waterproof, but dont make your feet a sweaty mess on hot days. Protection is great and so comfortable I actually wear them off the bike as regular shoes. I use em for all bikes even including my ADV.

I like those a lot man. Be a nice change of pace from the typical motorcycle boot. And yea, I never even thought of reflective material for a boot hahaha.

  • @jerryriverbluffbaggers5162

I agree put zipper on side and I will buy

  • @koehlerjj

I own the Holtmans which seem to have a very similar sole to the Midlands you have . I feel like I am ice skating. The soles are VERY slippery on some surfaces. Bought them toward the end of the season. I will give them an extended run when things warm up here a little more in Ohio maybe when I break them in a little bit it will improve . I wound up going back to my Hagerman's which have the zipper on the side, provides me a little more traction as well and are still comfortable.

  • @2trdmustanggtfordf1hdsgsfa80

The most comfortable and easy on/off boot for me… old GI jungle boots. Speed laces, no zipper. Feet get wet when it rains, don’t offer much crash protection, but they are cool in the heat. Original Black & OD are hard to find. Everything is made in China… always looking for comfortable substitutes. It’s interesting that most shoe manufacturers put speed laces on boots that also have zippers, and leave zippers off of shoes that have traditional laces..

Very nice job here on your review of the boots Mike. As previously mentioned in the comments, I am not excited about the white soles. Maybe those snowflakes worried about some reflective tape on the boot should consider adding lighting to the their bikes. Personally, I think it would be a better safety investment as compared to reflective footwear. I’m out for now.

I imagine that the next time you see me, I'll be wearing a pair of these. Like you, I'd prefer a zipper but it's not a deal breaker. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

I like Merrell 8" tactical boots. One side zipper, waterproof, slip resistant, and really good arch support. I have had two pairs so far and will buy them again when needed. They are light weigh and around $150.

i owned those HD "boots" i found them to be a little slippery. I also had the sole pull off one of them about a year after owning. I did find them very comfortable while walking around. We went to a vintage event last spring and was in them all day. I also wear a wide shoe, and they were sized well....

I have the Midlands and like them for the same reasons you do. I do wish the soles had a bit more traction. Other than that, great riding shoes.

I only have Icon boots and riding shoes, they're usually made for wide feet. I've tried indie ridge and even went up a size, just too narrow. Must be made for women's feet.
Edit: I'm getting forgetful in my old age, just ordered some Forma adventure boots for off road fun.

    • @RidingintheOzarks
      @RidingintheOzarks  Před 2 lety +1

I have wide feet and have to go up a size often but these worked great for me. I looked at Icon as well but being able to try these on and saving a few bucks convinced me to try these.

Rose & Anvil does great boot review videos. Plus he rides also.
I have a pair of TCX riding shoes that look very similar to your HD shoes and I love them. Excellent on the bike and very comfortable off the bike for walking etc. Plus they offer pretty good protection and are waterproof

I was at the mall and purchased boots with the zipper at the back. I thought they looked great and were comfortable however they turned out to be vegan, and would not be ideal for riding a motorcycle. Now I have these fake leather shoes in my closet. I will have to check these HD boots out. Thanks for the video.
