That was seriously one of the only ads I’ve ever watched except for Evan and Katelyns ads which are just hilarious. As a designer, I really appreciate when things are well thought out for real world use.
Don't forget to control the indoor environment quality, ie the IEQ. That includes thermal comfort, ie heating, and cooling. The air quality, Ie a ventilation system. But almost most importantly would be moisture control inside the structure with a dehumidification system! Water is the number one killer of buildings, hence why the flashing and installation details are so critical. I know you haven't got into building science on the channel, but make sure you take a look at that before starting.
I'm really really excited about you designing other spaces and will be looking forward to the future projects you create. Your designs are always paired with well thought through principles, make the most of the space and are budget friendly.
I'd love to see a video for each stage listed at 02:05 - I really appreciate the way you break down things and cover fundamentals in an easy to digest manner; I wouldn't know where to start / what to consume if I began googling each of these topics;
I understand bellroy sponsored the video and their products are great quality, but 140 euros for a wallet is not my definition of reasonably priced
I can't find responsibly and well designed wallets at a better price. If you find any let me know! 👍🏼
@@DanielTitchener Great, understandable. My country has a great leather tradition and you can find well made wallets at half that price
Im sure you can do 2,8 euros pr. Year for the next 50 years. If you want to. 🫠
This is really impressive. I must say I can't totally agree with the "anyone can do this" message 😅 let me qualify. Maybe the actual building part worked, but you brought up some details in the planning, especially around heat retention that laypeople just wouldn't be familiar with or consider. Still massive respect for pulling this off. Lived in the countryside where everyone I know built a shed and it's exciting to see a true professional have a go at it.
Bellroy wallets are literally awesome
omg the last part is so exciting! you get to design our spaces, too! 🤩
Fruit salad
Yummy yummy
Awesome office!
I was merchandise manager for the company that first stocked the wallets in Melbourne. Great design ,great people and super product.
yes yes yes!!! Being a landscape architecture student with zero Sketchup experience I am so excited for the upcoming design content!
This is a deep work dream. I love this concept
Wow! Just, wow! I'm equal parts amazed, impressed and jealous. Perhaps more jealous. Great work!
Excited to see this journey.
It’s really enjoyable to hear you speak about a topic that your so knowledgeable about. I can see your passion!
I just built a home office in my backyard over the last 3 months - wish I had had this series for inspiration first, but I'm really excited to see how yours turns out!! I did a similar split use for office space and bike/ tool storage. Fortunately where I am in the US, there's no height restriction, but I did have to pour a concrete foundation which ended up about half of the overall cost.
Does your current shed have electricity or internet running to it? I had to dig a trench to bury electrical and internet cables. I love that you're including the budget aspect of this as well since that was something I always ran into - great idea to do the fixed window, I should have done that! It would be super cool to chat about the process with you and I can't wait to see what you do next!
Your channel slowly became a must watch for me. I’m happy for you and I’m excited to follow along all your plans for this year! Good luck! Cheers from Portugal
Wow, this is my dream! I gotta start building things again. This is so amazing! Looks like you can concentrate a lot in that small room (:
I'd recommend looking into used container/container homes.
I love this idea of yours to get you're hands dirty and actually applying what you planned and have in your head to the real world! I imagine you'll take away a lot of experience and hands on knowledge for the future. 😊👍🏻
Also really looking forward to learning step by step about the things to keep in mind when building my own space!
Excited for this build and series!
I really liked the outside cladding idea, and yess the charred timber looks amazing! Been here since your first video, saw it while I was designing my own studio, I'm an interior designer, hope we can work together in any video on your new series! Kudos!
Do you have a video of the build process ? I would love to watch it and learn.
glad to hear more design work coming! I started watching because of your design, architecture background. love the lifestyle stuff too. keep it up daniel!
OMG! So exited for your projects. Thanks for an inspiration
Can't wait to see more of this soon!!! Big hug from Argentina! ♥
Awesome! Really looking forward to more design work on the channel.
Super stoked! I'm looking forward to upcoming videos in this series
Love the new direction of your channel and your garden room design. Definitely plan for running electric and data lines to the site of the new shed before starting construction. This may require digging a trench or clipping to a wall so best have that planned before cracking on 👍🏼 as it always looks cleaner.
So the base should be 15cm above the ground to avoid water splashing up onto it? What if you build a small splash guard around the outside to protect against it? Essentially a waterproof skirting board for the outside of the building... or have I missed a key feature something along the way?
Wow I can't wait for more design content. Especially with the amount of effort you put into your videos and now it will be mergerd with the design stuff which brought me to your Chanel to begin with! Can't wait
I'm looking forward to this. Good luck.
Daniel I LOVE your videos!!!! Thank you SO much for sharing all this wonderful design.
I love how you break down good design and are so structured. As a Fine Artist, my creativity is usually Hap-Hazard and all over the place, so this is great for me to take inspiration from. Plus, your chilled personality is so calming! 👍🏻
Hell yea! Designing small spaces is why I subscribed. I feel like you've been a bit uninspired recently but this video has "I'M BACK" energy
Congrats! Waiting for the next videos already! best of luck!
Can't wait to see the end result! Well done so far! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏿
I wish i knew before I did my shed! It cost me around 3k to built it. Have fun it was a good experience for me too.
That design looks amazing 😍. This is such an awesome idea 😁. I look forward to seeing all the rooms you will be designing. Good luck with the building process 🤞
As someone who is struggling with my own work and studies right now, seeing you work and successfully solve your issue is really inspiring and calming too, thank you
Nice work man! Very cozy-looking office.
Let’s go🔥 This is going to be dope playlist
Buzzing to see it happen. Great vid!
Thanks man! Helped a lot understanding building a lot better, great vid!

What a good presenter
For those wondering, he moved to Vancouver so couldn't finish the build
So excited for more design content!!
Can’t wait to see how this turns out!
So excited about the design content! Sure you will be entertaining and informative!
Seems like your Ikigai is back! Happy new year and my best wishes for your channel for this year too!
Amazing design but the production quality of this video was even better
Thanks Daniel, just discovered your channel and super keen to see the final outcome for this project.
Your walkthroughs are well explained making them easy to follow.
Best of luck with the project and the channel, keep up the good work!

Why wasn't a dual pitched roof or other chosen?
3:19 / 3:29 shows that you have a max of 4 m overall height to work with such a design.
The head room might not be enough in this case, but within the main part of the structure you would have sufficient headroom to play with.
It’s lovely watching this. My partner and I, a services engineer and illustrator respectively, built my studio and garden store in lockdown. It felt daunting to start but breaking it down into stages made it possible. We were joining to an existing garage and needed planning permission and listed buildings consent. We designed in autocad and sketch up also. And gained loads of skills from construction to laying tiles in roofs. It’s in my main channel if you want to see? Gregory Makes. I’ll find this comment and link it there for you. We’re in Ashford, kent if you want to pop over and see.
So it’s on this channel. DIY Self Build studio - Part 1.
Impressive editing on the photos!!
So excited to see how your design skills and channel will continue to blossom this year :-) Huge fan of your very well thought out planning and aesthetic - I love how every one of your videos reflect this even with your use of timestamps, which is always very much appreciated!
This is ABSOLUTELY the content I am living for Dan! I think this is absolutely your USP! Absolutely, absolutely 👏🏼 #universe
Bellroy make great products - I especially love their standing pouch for all my MacBook Air / iPhone related cables when I'm travelling for work. As for the cabin, I especially love the budget approach to the Shou Sugi Ban. Great out of the box thinking there!
Stoked for this
I'm stoked about the direction of your channel! Your work is inspiring to me, especially because your great ideas are also practical and realistic for everyday people, and you express it all so well in your videos.
Awesome! Keep it going!
Good idea. It really seems like a nice video serie project you got here!
Great philosophy, and enjoyed the video. Very good
"stoked"? You're not a man who says "stoked"! 🤣
Great video and project!
just love the design. I also need this project on my hose... i think i will take your ideea and try to iplement it here in romania. i will keep you updated!
I love the concept mate, I’d love to do something similar to this when we become home owners!
Hi Daniel. Just a thought but would you consider something like a lightweight aluminium structure? The cost upswing from the timber would be noticeable for sure but you could easily manage a 3m Roof span with 100x50x6 aluminium RHS Members with centres of 400mm that you are utilising (roughly speaking from experience, would need a sanity check). At floor level you could opt for a light gauge galv steel frame to sit directly onto the slab with a minimal increase in height with support shims, so you could claw back some head height from the floor deck also. I also appreciate that beyond the cost factors there are environmental considerations etc that you may not want to increase the carbon footprint of the build by using such materials. Failing that you could just consider increasing the density of centres at the roof for your timber joists alone and likely claw back some of the roof depth (although without looking it seems you are already circa 400mm centres down the long span of the building so that may not be viable). Finally, if you do not mind having a primary support member running centrally within the room you could reduce the joist profile size substantially with the trade off that you would have one large central beam within the room volume itself running from above the glazing back to the dividing wall between the office and storage area. Needless to say these walls would need more consideration for their load bearing capacity etc. Just a few ideas for your ruminate on anyway! Best of luck with the project, look forward to seeing the end result.
Cant wait for that designing stuff.. 😀😃
Why so cute, Daniel?! 🥰
loving it
following this...cant wait to see how it comes along. Make a follow up as as possible!
Amazing,
Can you share the breakdown? I’d love to attempt something similar,
Thought about strengthening the roof? Having a stairway up gives access back to the footprint and covering the roof with an upgraded material allows for wear and tear. I’m abuzz about this as I just submitted by dissertation for QS, and I got time on my hands.
Loved the practical walk through of the process and challenges in the design phase. From the vid title I was expecting to see a build though 😬
omg I am thrilled
My mom always makes designs but never gets started 🤡 Waiting for your building videos so I show them to her and maybe spark inspiration!
Really excited to follow this journey. Would be great if you could include links/the designs you're using for this project so others (including me 😅) could use. Happy to pay for it!
please make it a series when you start it
You’re really awesome man!
Hi Daniel I have always loved that type of Cladding detail, however I never understood the roof and roof trim details in this case. for example in a typical clade garden office the roof trim sit over there cladding thus not water hits the Horizontal batten be hide the vertical cladding, but in this case it will is there issued with this?
Daniel, quick question. As a designer of spaces, how do you deal with proper measurements and scaling?
I'm not a professional designer but when I do have ideas for my room, I always tend to underestimate or overestimate the size of furnitures relative to the space. I end up going back and forth, keep measuring things just to make sure that the space is well-utilized but is also open enough to have breathing space.
Excited to see architectural content!
Actually, nice sponsor! Never knew there was a company dedicated to that
Project looks great. I got one question, did you say that Tyvek was an expensive material to wrap the office shed? In Canada a 10' x 100' roll of tyvek homewrap cost under 100$ CAN (58 GBP). Everybody put it on home and also on sheds before to add the siding.
Looks great, hope it works out for you!
Also, what are those curtains (if they are not just design mock up), because i think i might need those ;)
I can't wait to see how the process is going - given we're halfway through 2022 can we have an update on this please?
Love the project! Will baby be moving into your current office?
Oh boy, have I got a room design challenge for you!!! 😁 I will submit an official form and hope to be selected. I've lived in MANY different homes in my life and never struggled so much with how to use the space in a room before. Challenge coming your way very soon!! 😁
Hi Daniel, how's this build going, would love to see an update as I'm doing a similar project. 👍
I love your design!
Could you have windows on other walls too?!
very cool
quality content
Did you build this? Design looks interesting, would love to see more of it
Hi Daniel, nice knowing you and your CZcams is well made. I am a licensed structural Engineer located in Montreal Canada. We will chat more often….👍
Does it have to be interior home? I ask because I have a garden/greenhouse situation I’d love design input on.
Hey man, awesome video. But I have to know where you got the sweater you were wearing throughout the video. For example, at 0:47 of the video. Thanks in advance.
Hi what you used for heating?
Would honestly love to do this in my Backyard, but then rent it as an Air B&B :P
Im adicted to tgis channel
