The original advert was undoubtably way better than this recent iteration.
They changed the Trbojevic section from 1996 to 1997 and the Canterbury video from 2010 to 2009.
Yeah the brothers as little kids. I’m not a Manly fan but these two are the exception.

Can someone explain to me the part where the Newcastle fans are protesting at 1:19? What's the story there, seems to be about BHP?
BHP steelworks was the biggest employer of people in Newcastle during the late 90s. They ended up shutting down, causing a lot of unemployment. It was a hard time for Newcastle, there were heaps of protests for fairer treatment of workers. The Knights premiership in 1997 and 2001 was a huge morale boost for the town. The win helped to unite people under the crisis, it’s one of those stories where rugby league wasn’t just a game. It was the heart of the people.

Great ad, dunno about showing the 97 reserve grade grand final like it was any sort of achievement tho. SL was where most of the talent was.

@@geofft4075 Eh tomato / tomato. It was the grand final to the vastly inferior competition that year. SL was far stronger. It was pretty much reserve grade.

Fox Sports Jimmy Barnes video was 100X better amazing how Foxsports came up with a better vid then the Nrl lol this doesn't pump you up like the Fox sports one this was disappointing it failed to match the 90s promos

Rugby league is great, the NRL's version is rubbish. Too many stupid rule changes that spoil what true rugby league is all about. The international games are so much better to watch.
