If this is about "fuck beauty rules" then why doesn't the campaign makeup match the intensity and artistry of those who won. Very basic looks and boring colors, this doesn't make me want to rush out and buy KVD, despite being a fan in the past. Plus, no one thinks of Mikayla as a "beauty rule breaker" she isn't as unique or striking as other artists. They could have tapped dozens of other alt-makeup artists like Mei Pang or Niohuru X. They could have made a statement casting a queer artist, like again Niohuru X or another drag artist. Instead, they pick the most milquetoast boring influencer out there for their "edgy rule-breaking" campaign. Yawn. It Doesn't matter if they're playing with the duality of "follow the rules, fuck the rules" It would have been much more striking to see an artist with extreme makeup toned down. I've never seen it done before, and it's really nice to see lesser known/normal people have their dreams come true like this. I can see why a fan of hers would have the time of their life winning something like that. It's a refreshing concept, and I hope KVD continues to do it. Maybe with a better creator next time.

Let's be real - the only way brands will stop is if it stops being in their financial interest to do so. So really, unless the FTC starts imposing ridiculous penalties, or people stop buying from those brands, nothing will happen. Let’s be honest… unfortunately what matters to this world is money! Companies keep working with people like Mikaela coz at the end of the day it’s still a win for them financially, despite bad reviews, calling out etc.. unless they come face to face with the law, they don’t care about what people think! Mikaela has a lots of haters, yes? Yes! Mikaela still is popular tho and makes sales? Yes? Yes!! So that’s what matters! Same goes for other creators too! That’s how this beauty world works! Unfortunately!! :S
People like Mikayla may have a strong audience but if enough choose not to support these brands when they do things like this then even the support garnered by an influencer wont be enough to offset their losses.
Perfect timing and esp yesterday I went on kvd to restock on some lipsticks then I saw her face and went what! I exited that site so fast and also there is need to use vulgarity to sell makeup its disgusting..needless to say no lipsticks for me lol

I'm not a fan of Mikayla, but I absolutely love this concept for a brand deal! It is so unique. I've never seen it done before, and it's really nice to see lesser known/normal people have their dreams come true like this. I can see why a fan of hers would have the time of their life winning something like that. It's a refreshing concept, and I hope KVD continues to do it. Maybe with a better creator next time.
The normie creators don't even fit the concept they were trying to make. The ones who won doesn't do anything out of the rules with their makeup, so no.. they are not doing anything new while saying "normie" makeup is out of the rules because it has a bit of color.

If KVD wants to rebrand, why did they keep Kat's initials and her packaging style? They should have given it a whole new name and either changed the packaging and lettering or tweaked it a little bit so it's clearly different.

Let's be real - the only way brands will stop is if it stops being in their financial interest to do so. So really, unless the FTC starts imposing ridiculous penalties, or people stop buying from those brands, nothing will happen. But good luck getting people to stop buying from Maybelline or Elf or the others. At the end of the day, consumers care more about products and cash than influencers, no matter how much they complain online - that's why brands don't care about this sort of thing. I've never worn make-up before, so I don't have a stake in this mess, but the issue is so obvious.
...I will say, though - hearing Tea Spill's theme music play behind the advertisement is hilarious! Also, I'm happy that those four smaller creators got this opportunity and visibility from this deal.
I feel like we shouldn't blame her at this point, it was her fans that made her huge and keep her around. People like jaffar turd, jemos chols and jacol hell are still around collecting money no matter how problematic they are, mikayla is no different and she will still have people buying and giving her money.

I’m so sick of Mikayla getting shoved in my face and on my TikTok feed, even when I have her muted. Her voice is obnoxiously fake and grating. Thinking it’s cute she was caught not being honest with her marketing shows how immature she really is. As an “alt” person who wears Alt makeup, KVD could’ve gone with another creator who fits their brand so much better-I follow plenty of them who deserve it more. I’m disappointed they partnered with someone so fake and lacking integrity, so guess I’ll have to find a new contour palette.
