Is there a way to capture a number on your cell phone if someone is calling you with a VoIP number? Can you download a program on your cell phone? I am an investigator and get calls asking if I can identify a VoIP number. What would be the easiest but best program to use? Much appreciated.

@@tonyvain100 there’s no easy way that I know of. However, there are tools to see which numbers are assigned to which Telco providers - so by looking that up, you can see who assigned the number to the caller. Then, you can determine if that provider is a VoIP provider or a traditional TelCo.
This is actually an entire area of investigation referred to as OSINT or Open Source Intelligence. There are tools related to tracking and tracing - but it’s a pretty big topic and I’m only familiar with a subset of the tools available.

If I'm somewhere where there's no cellular phone operator range, but I have access to the Internet, and a phone that uses Voip, can I still just use my REGULAR phone number, and make a phone call still using my REGULAR phone number, and the person I'm calling to will not even realize any difference, because they see my regular phone number on theirs screen?
Don't you dare to misunderstand me!

@@mfst100 you won’t be able to switch between phone providers with the same number (cellular to VOIP). You would need to have a different number for VOIP.
