Great intro scotch, and that's it.

The Man Chan don’t hate the Glen! Don’t get me wrong. I wouldn’t buy a bottle myself. I was just surprised with the amount of flavour for a 40% abv. scotch. I was given a pour for free. Are you referring to the 15yr solera? If so, I need to try it!!

I remember I was at this bar with my friends and they knew one of the bartenders. I had never gone there before. I ordered a Lagavulin 16, but they were out, so I ordered a Laphroaig 10 on the rocks. The bartender refused! There are some notes in Laphroaig 10 that I prefer muted, I know what I want, I'd have had the Lagavulin 16 au naturale. I got my Laphroaig and knicked some ice from a friend.
Never went to that bar again.

I just had a client tell me they always wanted to get into whiskey. I asked a bunch of open ended questions. Next week I am taking him 4 samples of whiskey to find out where his mind is at with what he might favor. So new or cool things whiskey would grab their attention right? I was wrong. Turns out they know next to nothing about whiskey once you step outside the two or three biggest/most common brands. Makers, Jameson, Knob Creek, etc. Not that they are bad bottles. I love all 3, especially makers. I'm just sad I thought I'd have a new way to connect with friends and that didn't really work out.

I was never an Irish lover at all. There was just a tasting note that I couldn't get passed. But, with the constant praise of Redbrest by you two, I decided to give it a try today. Surprise!! I like irish!!

I grew up with Jameson like most of us. I was introduced to Scotch about 5 years ago. I HATED IT! I didn't know anything about Scotch. I tried so many and was afraid of Islay. Turns out, thats my favorite. Heavily peated, smokey stuff is where it's at for me.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for that peated Glenfiddich the next time I get to pass through duty free!
Cheers Rex for asking that last question cause the whole way through this video I was continually going "How the hell can I get THAT job!?" :D

Glenfiddich Fire and Cane is also peated, and a lot easier to find.

any tips on getting used to the burn of whiskey? My first time trying whisk(e)y I tried Monkey shoulder, Jim Beam double oak, and a few others back to back, and I couldn't tell you the difference between them except one. Lagavulin 16. Boy was that amazing, but being as old as it is it's a lot smoother so I could taste nuances unlike the younger stuff.

As a whiskey noob who just bought my first bottle of "higher end" whiskey earlier today, we'll see how things progress for me. It may be a bit for me to get acclimated to the ethanol taste/heat.

Airport Glenfiddich is the best, I was brought deep into the Whisky fold by the no age statement special reserve, and if I ever see a bottle on the Auction sites I still make a bee line for it.
