The Bee Gees have never got the true recognition that they deserved for artists, songwriters and producers while all the brothers were still with us .... Blue eyed Soul at its very best, probably the best White R&B group of all time ....

I have loved that song since I first heard it in the late 70’s yes I’m pushing 60yrs!!!
Legendary Bee Gees are incomparable. Their tunes and tones are amazing and all are handsome.
After all these years still blown away by the vocals and beauty of this song.
I saw an interview with the Bee Gees many years ago where they said that they didn't really compose the songs, but that compositions already existed somewhere and came to them from heaven. Fanny is proof of that. I never get tired of listening to this song. Not only is the composition and production other-worldly, but the BeeGee's talent is once in a generation.
I've heard several songwriters suggest something very similar. That songs already exist in complete form, and that the songwriter just "catches" them. It's a very interesting notion.

This song takes me to heaven...my Grandma and I would eat ice cream at Margie's Candies in Chicago on Western and Armitage Avenue in the 1970s. Each table had a jukebox. At the time, the tables were facing the windows parallel to Western Avenue. It was a sunny afternoon. Summer. I was in love for the first time. I was young. I played this song and I so desperately wanted to tell her this. But she was my Grandma and she still wanted her little girl and she didn't want me to go. I lost her in 1992 and every time I hear this song, my heart reaches out to her. Thank you ever so much for sharing this. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

How can anyone not understand why THE BEE GEES have held their fans in the palm of their hands for actual generations, count them 5 generations. This is the quintessential Bee Gees song because it showcases everything that made them great. Great story about this song. Maurice met Quincy Jones and Quincy said that Fanny was one of his favorite R&B songs of all time. He told Maurice that he tried for years to find someone that could cover the song and that the search was futile because he couldn't find anyone to come close to this performance. That says so much.
