Wesco has an INSANE amount of customization available. I think I customized every single aspect of my boss boots, from the height, top pull tabs instead of buckle, heel type and height, soles, insole straps vs harness, buckle type and color, stitching colors... EVERYTHING was fully customizable.
I own a pair of Ranch Road engineers, and I can tell you they absolutely rock. Their quality is the same as Grant Stone or Oak Street Bootmakers, and they’re right around that $400 price point. They only come in black, but for me, that’s the only color they need to come in.
ive been wearing nothing but engineer boots for years. if they are becoming more popular, why are all of the manufacturers discontinuing them? i cant find them anywhere anymore.
Great video. I have these in the natural Horween chromexel and absolutely love them. I too was experiencing some heel slippage and a good pair of insoles fixed it. I also have Cat’s Paw soles on my Rolling Dub Trios and I have to say they are my favorite. This is the first I heard of the company going under. 😢
I have the Wesco Boss, and they have removable insoles, I removed them till I've broken in the midsole. That was two months ago and only slowly the footbed is breaking in. But no complains. A bit of heel slip, so I've perforated an extra hole in the strap which helps a lot and I guess it will be even less when I put the insoles back in.
Kinda weird to say that you might go with Nick's next time because of the amount of customization they offer since Wesco has, by a wide margin, the highest amount of customization options of any of the PNW boot makers. Have you ever even been to Wesco's website or did you order these straight from Baker's or something?
These boots are incredible! Thanks for the review. These will be my next purchase. Did you buy stock boots or get them made? I appreciate you giving the sizing advice, this helps a lot.
Nick's Renegade more customizable? 😂 Nick's gets less customizable every day it seems, but Nick's was never as customizable as Wesco. Wesco engineer's are more last choices, more buckle choices, more choices on how many buckles, more choices on height, more choices on diameter, more choices on soles, more choices on shank, more choices on patches, more choices on stitching, more choices for design at top of shaft, probably more choices on heel. Nick's may or may not have more leather choices in stock but that is always changing for both of them. Nick's has a higher arch too, but I'm working with Wesco now on what they can do to raise the arch for me.
Decent price. Good boots but there’s a lot better. You can actually get a stick on pad for heel slip if it doesn’t go away. Just ask your local cobbler.
HI! I'm Matteo from Milan Italy. Gorgeous Mr Lou boots. I want to order a pair too but I'm extremely undecided about the size. Some say (including the factory) to cut half a size off, others don't on the Mr Lous due to the "MP" toe. My measurements are 10US (27.4cm) and foot circumference at the ball 11 inches, so wide. In Nicks boots I'm a 9.5F. What do you think about Wesco Mr. Lou? In all Red Wing moc toes I wear a size 10 and in all my boots I wear a 28.5 cm leather insole that fits perfectly. help!!! Thanks for the advices. Matteo
Hey man great video. Curious what size do you wear in an Alden Indy boot or a Blundstone boot, or even Vans originals. That will help me figure out what size I need to order in the Mister Lou. Thanks.
I wouldn't use any of those to size PNW boots. I've owned most of thise shoes at one point so Ill give my two cents. Alden can be half a size down or true to size depending on preference(personally I like true to size with Alden) Blundstone is true to size, and Van's is often a size up. I think it's usually a safe bet to say half a size down and a width up for work/heavy boots. It gives your foot room to swell and to wear thick socks for comfort. The important thing with pull on boots is length so the pull through is correctly place on your foot.
I would not call Nicks Boots high end. I purchased a pair and they completely stuffed it up, wrong heal and very poor quality, send back, will never shop at Nicks boots.

Seems like the best choice for an engineer boot. Not sure if John Lofgren and Role Club are worth it when there is the Wesco Mister Lou.
I have lofgren engineers they are sweet! I don’t own a pair of wesco or role club though
@@alanjimenez1449 Nice! Must be a great boot. That shinki horsehide looks amazing.
common critiques of Mister Lou are regrettably the stitch quality and other QC issues common to the other PNW bootmakers even at this price point

@Mil_Spec_Spartan_ Dang, looks like that brand closed up shop. Would have been just what I was looking for, too.

Same here with my custom boss boots. I have the strap pretty tight and they fit nicely

Right

William, heel slip is normally caused by the boot being too long. Maybe 9.5 D is a better fit for you in this particular boot.
The right foot heel is from...DRIVING!!!!
The boot is worth it but the wait time is ridiculous. They could at least add something extra in the box with your $700 boots you waited 80 years for.
I bought mine from Standard and Strange, no wait.

Very hard to find D width in the Wesco boot.
Very nice jacket!

If I'm a 9.5 in Thursdays and Wolverine 1K's, will I still be in a 9.5 in Mister Lous?
Hi do these have a shank inside?
How are the boots doing now? Still heel slipping? I ordered myself a pair in brown
Where can I even buy Wesco? They are sold out everywhere
Which jacket are you wearing?
It’s a Flint and Tinder lined waxed trucker jacket. Excellent coat for the money. I have one in brown.
@@flfbsphatboyblue8970 Little usure about size, im hoovering over large im 187 cm and 95 kg. what do you suggest?
Nicks is no longer doing customizable boots lol
But they are? The renegade by Nick's is a customizable Nick's engineer boot. Available on their website
