AMira and Corlea Botha harmonize so extremely well in this duet to make this performance one of the most rare of its kind. Two female sopranos in a duet, singing a song that obviously was not easy to coordinate, but the two of them performed to perfection. That performance is the closest we will get to having two angels serenading us on earth and getting close to Heaven on Earth! Of Course it helps that Amira is blessed by God...
Amira gets so much (deserved) praise for her voice, one can overlook what a special rich contralto voice Corlea has. They make such a perfect duet together on this beautiful song.
Amira will be one of the Greatest Opera singers of her generation. There is nothing robotic about her stage presence and singing performances. Amira is a cure for dry eyes, you won't have after watching Amira Amazing performances. 😢🤗
This is my all time favorite Flower Duet. I also just heard Amira sing Ave Maria performed on Christmas 2015 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Once again a fantastic paring with Gissur Pall Gissurarson...cannot believe any two could have performed it better! Their voices were PERFECT together.

one thing can stop her from becoming the greatest soprano - her miscalculating producer that gets her to sing cheesy pop-songs with a touch of classic. Such a waste of her incredible voice. Who can explain to her (she should be old enough to understand) that real opera is where she can truly develop, not silly boring pop love songs that don't require ANY potential for voice?!
@@helenandhercoffee I fully agree. If she chooses to go the CC route for the money, it's her choice and the world has at least potentially lost a super star operatic talent. This should have 2 million views by now. Non opera lovers I know are stunned by this performance and are listening to it over and over. How do we get this out to a wider audience, change the title? What?
Luigi Manzoni I agree; it's running about 35% of the rate of "Amazing Grace", which does not make sense to me; I think it has to be the title; this would suggest that roughly three times as many people recognise the title "Amazing Grace" as do the title "Flower duet"
Dafydd Llewellyn Call it " The Amazing Duet " ? Someone should retitle a copy and repost it just to see what happens. Amira Willighagen in and Amazing Duet 2017.
Dafydd Llewellyn Here is a question that has been bothering me for quite a while. What is in the voices of specific individuals that makes their voices so complimentary to each other. For example, Patrizio is a baritone who sings O Sole Mio with Amira and the voices are extremely complimentary. Why? What is specific to their voices that make them work and blend so well together. It's not just that Amira is a Soprano and Patrizio is a baritone. It is something specific to their individual voices. A better example might be Amira singing with tenors. Amira singing O Sole Mio with Ben was really great, as far as the blending of their voices, Amira's performance of the Gounod Ave Mario with Gissurarson was an incredible performance, but his voice didn't compliment hers nearly as well as Ben's voice did. Then you have Sunnyboy in that medley in rehearsal. Not only did their performance blow me away but they complimented each others voices' perfectly. I loved Sunnyboys lyric tenor which was gorgeous, but the blending of and juxtaposition of their voices could only be described as beyond compare. What is the difference in the tenors' voices? What waveforms, tonal qualities etc. What makes two voices blend perfectly together almost as if they were designed to be complimented by those specific voices. It's not just Sunnyboy and Amira, look at Garanca and Netrebko. They perform the flower duet together, Perfection. Garanca sings it with another highly trained Soprano, meh !!! It's ok but nothing special. It's not that Netrebko is more talented then other Sopranos, it's like her voice was specifically designed to sing with Garancas'. Any piece they perform together is much better the when they perform with any other counterpart no matter how talented. I'm struggling to explain myself here but you understand what I mean.
If you have the Classics is Groot DVD, she did a startling performance of der Holle Rache (Queen of the night) aria from Mozart's Magic Flute, at the same concert.
Wow, wow, wow! This is so complicated a duet, with timing of absolute necessity, so many words, such a complicated story line. Amira was indeed the lead in this duet. Superbly done! Is this a 13 year old? Impossible! Unbelievably professional. This is the ultimate test of Amira's ability. It is one thing to sing solo, or even with a choir: but this is with another great singer. Not a flaw in the performance of both of them! This sets the bar so high, who can even come close? Still, Amira retains her humble attitude, like she is just doing her thing, enjoying every note and every performance. Bravo!
@@gordoneastman4615 Love your comment! However, this performance was in June, 2017 - and Amira went on to record her third album more or less immediately afterwards; and this marks, I believe, a significant stage in her vocal development. She had a natural "Squillo" from very early on, of which I don't think she was aware. At this performance, and more so in her third album, she seems to have become aware of it and learned to control it (presumably by singing with somewhat reduced air pressure) - I think we have to thank Corlea for that. At the same time, evidently her vocal coach told her to "throttle back" - she did not go above C6 until the performance of "Barcelona" in November 2018. And in that period, she sang songs from her third album, rather than operatic pieces. So she has been singing essentially "pop" for the better part of two years, whilst she has been passing through the adolescent voice change period. Recent evidence suggests that she is now past that, but she is taking it quietly for a bit longer - if you can call her performance of a medley from "Sound of Music" at the 2019 Classics concerts "taking it quietly". The DVD of that will start to be distributed from November 10. She has picked-up refinements such as Diminduendo, and matching her vibrato to that of a duettist, in the meantime.

idk how but it’s always her versions that have the most imagery for me like, she’s so young but she just brings the songs to life and I can just feel the emotion she breathes into all the songs she sings. how does she do it
tu ne sauras pas : I agree she’s just a young girl at maybe 12-14 by now. She was 9 when she auditioned for Holland’s Got Talent and won! I hope she stays young and her voice is definitely maturing, but sincerely hope she doesn’t end up like Charlotte Church who had a promising career but is now a Mum with children and grew up too fast. The Netherlands has a strict rule about how many appearances a girl/boy can make in one year! I have her CD and she’s a gorgeous girl! I believe her parents will abide by the law. Her Mum is from South Africa and her Dad is I think from Holland.
Charlotte Church started smoking and doing pop music. I don't think she liked classical music that much. I remember at the time she said something along those lines. But Amira loves classical music. I doubt very much she will become like Charlotte Church. I think Amira will become an operatic singer with a big career in it.

I became nervous when I saw what piece of music they were going to perform and wondered if this would be too difficult even for Amira. Her courage seems to be without limits. Once again, she surpasses the highest expectations and my nervousness was of course unjustified.
I was wondering when I would hear this sweet angel sing my duet, my surname being Flower....LOL. Seriously, what utter perfection. Bravo to Amira and Corlea, Utterly glorious!! This makes my soul sing!!!

I listen to these wonderful voices virtually every day, I am absolutely absorbed and it never fails to cheer me up. THANK YOU.
I have been waiting for Amira to sing this. Wow. Worth the wait. She is coming of age in all aspects, beautifully.
Her voice is beginning to mature in a way that suggests she can go in any direction you wants to musically,
An enchanting young orchid and a beautiful rose - did I mention enchanting and beautiful!
I cannot ever hear enough of Amira, she's growing into a beautiful young lady.
Amira continues to blossom with each and every performance she gifts us with.
¡DIOS MIO! ¡CUÁNTA BELLEZA!, ¡QUE VOCES!, REALMENTE LO TRANSPORTAN A UNO, PARECEN DOS UNIVERSOS EN MOVIMIENTO DE MÚSICA. ¡GRACIAS! PEQUEÑA AMIRA Y SEÑORA CORLEA BOTHA. ¡BRAVÍSIMO LAS DOS!.
Hard to believe she was 13 at the time, amazing!
Still way off the scale of amazingness. And getting better all the time. Wonderful.
They are both pretty, they both have beautiful voices and make a wonderful duet. They are magical flowers of different kind that fit perfectly together.
Please dear people, pray to your God, whatever or whoever you perceive him or her to be, to protect and nurture this beautiful young angel. Never in my life, and I am now 70, have I heard such sheer perfection from one so young and talented. Please dear God, show those who are nearest and dearest to this young lady, how to guide her with love, so that she can achieve her full potential which at this stage is limitless.
as someone who is 73, I could not agree with you more.
Your comment brought as much tears to me as the duet itself did.
Well said and AMEN.
In this cultural Dark Age of non-art, I am indeed very happy for you to have lived long enough to see a possible Renaissance in the making!
I'm 79, and thanks for expressing my feelings so perfectly.
Mezzo-soprano Corlea Botha does an outstanding job of blending her voice with Amira's voice.
Amira runs cross country and track which explains her big voice.
Fans of Wagnerian opera love large mezzo-sopranos able to control their big voices like this. This performance is as good as that by DivaLicious on the 2013 Australian show The Voice and the performance by Carla and Barbara on the 2014 UK show The Voice.
Absolutely amazing
Outstanding singing. Flawless. Both of them!
Listening to this you get a taste of what heaven may be like. Stunningly beautiful.
Truly beautiful, Amira you are amazing and I cannot wait for you to come to Australia and maybe one day hear you sing with Andrea Bocelli my favourite male singer.
idk how but it’s always her versions that have the most imagery for me like, she’s so young but she just brings the songs to life and I can just feel the emotion she breathes into all the songs she sings. how does she do it
Amira is a beautiful talented young woman! She’s come a long way from Holland’s Got Talent at only 9 years old! Pristine voice!
how can you call a 13 yo kid A WOMAN ??? Shame on you !!! She is a girl, definitely not a woman !!!
tu ne sauras pas : I agree she’s just a young girl at maybe 12-14 by now.
Perfection . She brings emotions that I didn't even know I had
Heute das erste mal die wundervolle Stimme von Amira Willighagen gehört, ich bin begeistert. Was für ein Talent.
Dann sind sie jetzt verloren!
Bert Baur Warum, bin ich verloren?
Verloren in de begeisterung Amira's stimme!
