LOL at "Blood on the Clocktower is my favourite game" being on the Things To Never Say Again list.
One day we’ll get you playing it...
I'm gonna have to be the person that says it: I don't understand why it's there, and paused to come to the comments to find out why. Did I miss something? I know their review of it was good, did something else happen that I missed?
@@JoshuaBost I don't know either and I am curious as well.
I am also in the "I don't understand" boat =/
Read the comment section of that review. The backlash was overwhelming.
While publicly I've been standing tall and proud of all my super complicated 2hrs+ monstrosities, somewhere deep down all I ever wanted was Shut up and Sit down to appreciate a game of mine for exactly the right reasons. :)
Thank you for adding Rome and Roll to the list, and thank you for the honour of calling it a "logical conclusion".
Magyarok nagy találmánya, híresek leszünk!
Which game was that again?
@@frankharr946611:36 Rome & Roll

Thank you!
I don't know who Roland Wright is, but he's got a lot of games.
I wonder if he's any relation to Roland Mouve?
He has a less well known brother, Phillip N. Wright
I hear he's collabing with Penny Paper on a big project, and they might bring in Yuri O'Gaim. Exciting stuff!
He's like Knizia and just keeps on putting out games. It's astounding.
Roland Wright may be one of my new favorite designers.
Unfortunately for mr wright there will soon be an “updated” board game review
As a standup pinball player, can confirm with Tom that intentionally dropping a ball in Multiball for any supposed reason is punished with exile from the community.
Death or glory, there is no middle ground.
I have no idea if "standup pinball" is a variant of pinball or you are a reputable pinball player.
@@stumbling I think it means standing at a pinball machine to play. As in "playing actual pinball" and not simulated on a boardgame or in the computer.
Tom continues to be a gift. And a criminal. An illegal gift.
Matt: This box is just loving life horizontal today.
Me: Same.
I saw Qwinto on that player card before I realized it was the name of the game and thought Quinns was coming up with weird names for himself again
Qwinto likey
A note to Matt on Cartographers - if you order directly from the publisher they will include the Skills mini-expansion. This allows you to spend the coins you've generated to do additional actions, and it's just enough extra to put the game over the top. BGG sells it as well, and if you're a fan of the game, I'd really suggest acquiring it. It's the extra bit of "crunch" that the game needed to stay fresh between plays.
Tom rolling a dice into a card might have been the greatest cut ever
The irony of pointing out the advantage of magnets for the astronaut players on the box of a game that requires rolling dice. Genuine smile there mate.
I legit laughed out loud at the coping, hugging joke. It's so true...
Matt: "Can we put in a pipe in post?"
Tom: *Pipeline flashbacks intensify*
I love roll and writes.
My favorites: Cartographers and Let’s make a bus route
Also really enjoy: Cat cafe, welcome to dinosaur world, welcome to, gans shön clever, twice as clever, railroad ink, avenues of the Kodama
Tom's Super-Skill Pinball 4-cade has the same energy as the cultural event known as Blaseball and I'm here for it.
Omg I love that someone came up with a Pinball Roll and write. Taking a game that exists and changing it into paper based version! Who does that!?
Can't wait for the arcade version of the mobile version of the table top RPG version of this roll and write game.
And when it takes off, someone can write the novel, which will turned into a script which will in turn become a big budget action film (featuring the Rock), which will have have a Saturday morning cartoon, which will eventually be used as the theme for a Pinball machine.
I don’t know... some kind of..... pinball...... Wizard?
Goeff englestein is some sort of damn pinball genius
@@JustJoeBlogs too damn real 🤣🤣🤣
Are we gonna stay silent on that horrific "8" at 0:28 ?!? IS THIS AN INFINITY SYMBOL OR A NUMBER?
WRITING ON-CAMERA OFTEN MEANS DOING IT AT A WEIRD ANGLE OKAY
@@shutupandsitdown I thought it was two happy 🍐 🍐 forgetting all about social distancing and kissing.
@@rhoddryice5412 Kissing stem to stem?! Keep that filth out of this Christian Boardgame Review Channel Comment Section. (I Couldn't Work Out When To Stop Capitalising Things.)
@@stumbling I think it's quite easy. You only press shift when you should. NOT WHEN YOU FEEL THE URGE. Oh and I know it's gard to stay away from CAPS LOCK.
i like the idea that this review is an exquisite corpse-style collaboration experiment where each lad only got to see the last portion of each others' videos and had to record their own based off of that
Suddenly that feeling we all get when entering Doncaster makes a lot more sense, thanks for that
Every day I get slightly more concerned about Quinn’s sanity
"Quinn's Descent Into Crazy Goodness".
I don’t.
I don’t think he has any remaining.
what is this sanity thing?
I hereby ban all crunch chunk for ya'lls vocabulary. No more crunch. No more "has some chunk." No more crunchy-chunk.
Love ya'll! This channel's great!
Whoever put a drain pipe with a sherlock hat on owes me a jumper. Spat my dinner put all over the place in laughter. Comedy genius!
“This box is just loving life horizontal today.” Same here, bud. Same here.
A Jet Set Radio sticker! Of course Matt has that on his laptop. I love Matt.
Just came back to watch this video for the second game after getting into roll and writes myself recently. The Sherlock pipe joke killed me just as much the second time around.
thank you for all the honest laughs and gaffs and reviews.
The coping and hugging joke wrote itself, I saw it coming from a mile away, and still chuckled quite a bit.
Metro X may not be a great train game, but Tom's shirt is a great train shirt.
Tom reeeeeally perfecting his style in this video and I absolutely love it. Great addition.
I got cartographers for my birthday recently. Found it in tabletop simulator and it worked well as a game for friends who were sharing a laptop or not particularly adept at moving stuff in game.
It is nice and breezy. Easy enough that my parents could pick it up and enjoy it but your choices do matter enough for it to reward you for good play.
Best ones: Corinth, Qwinto Cards (not the dice one, the cards one!), Trails of Tucana, Silver and Gold, Railroad ink blue, La Granja No Siesta, and.... the best one.... Welcome to... (or New las Vegas if you want a medium weight R&W game that works).
Love a review with the word “orthogonally” in it 😍😍😍
Stood out to me in a nice way too
For the longest time, I thought that this genre of games was created by one man named Roland Wright.
Feel like Tom has finally come into his own with this review.
I came here to say just that! His comedic style is starting to match Quinn's and Matt's while still being his own spin on the brand. It's been fun to watch his growth.
30 minutes of informative and hilarious reviews which have you laughing from the beginning to the end. This is peak CZcams
OMG the list of things to never say again got me laugh at loud in awe. The clocktower's one is genius
Cartographers is pretty sweet. Easy to teach, well implemented on Tabletopia and TTS, and is either straight forward or a strategical wonder as you set yourself up to score big points in fall and winter. Until someone puts some goblins in that spot that prevent you from surrounding a mountain and give you -8 points at the end of the round. Been using it as part of the online weekly board game club that doesn't have hardcore players.
The "feel like pinball" and Sherlock pipe joke both made me laugh out loud. Really improved my day! Thankyou :)
that rolling a... card pun had me busting up.
I was deeply worried I'd watch this and have to buy lots of new games but lucky me, I've bought them all already! I don't have a problem, honest guv.
Loved Cartographers and met the creator from where I live in Brazil, glad to see them pushing good games. He was super cool!
On the plus side its payday! Why are your reviews always so tempting! The natural charm of all of you I guess. Thank you, thank you and thank you again!
Been having a bad day today, that pipe joke was just what I needed. Pipe/10
I knew it was coming and still chuckled. Pipe/10
pretty sure Hadrian’s Wall and Three Sisters will take Roll (Flip) and Writes to a whole new level once released later this year
I'm 60 seconds in and the puns... They just don't stop! This is gonna be a good one
“If you’re looking to play a game while socially distanced (and arguably roll & write games are great for this)”
Can confirm, got to game with my boardgame starved parents playing Railroad Ink and it was AMAZING.
I love how Tom has progressed in his reviews. Congrats!
Thanks guys for another entertaining episode. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Copenhagen but you make it sound good. I feel like there will be many more good till n writes to come. Especially since they are so easy to get to the table. That’s clever gets the most play at my house right now
Just wanna say I *love* this format. Great video, keep it up!
I think SU&SD need to rethink their employment policies, it seems they've managed to give a job to a danger to society, what with all Tom's Train Crimes.
And matt's puppy punting.
Most entertaining explanation of a Santa Claus figure by shut up and sit down since lowlands!
I was not expecting the first introduction to hit my feelings so hard ;-;
Tom sweet Shrigley mug!
Came to say the same thing.
One of my favourite categories of games!! Plenty of these are ideal lunchtime games for a workday, or to use as a filler between meatier things.
My favourites include: Qwinto, Welcome To, Ganz Schon Clever, Railroad Ink, Cartographers, Can't Stop Express, Silver & Gold.
Man, i love a good roll and write, got so many and still want to buy more XD
Hey guys
I live in a country where we're back into a pretty strict lockdown and my partner has been in hospital for a couple of weeks now and I can't visit(not a COVID hospital stay thankfully)
Going through your old videos has really cheered me up and I want to thank you for helping me get through a pretty tough time
Thank you for being so amazing :)
Not sure who's editing but they are killing it!
The Sherlock pipe genuinely made me pause the video to laugh
Quinns: Today the world is in a resurgence of...
Me: oh no.
Quinns: Roll and Write!
Me: oh thank god.
Apparently, Fleet: the Dice Game is one of the strongest contenders in a genre overflowing with mediocre-ness. Would have liked to hear the SU:SD take on it. Alas, too many games, too little time.
We've heard the same thing! We're awaiting our review copy with ba(i)ted breath.
@@shutupandsitdown I look forward to it. Would have been a shame to let it slip through the net.
Good luck getting it. I ordered the sheets and customized my dice to play it. Has a lot going on and takes at least an hour to play. Not a quick to pull out roll n write but ther are so many bonuses which are satisfying. One of the harder roll n writes to get my partner to play with me only due to its duration. I played it solo last night and stopped after 2 rounds because I felt it was better with 2
@@bestatstartrek6695 The solo game against Captain Ruth is great.
But yeah, Fleet the Dice game is easily the best roll n write I've played. It really is great.
I had the Kickstarter version and sold it. The card game`s so much better, and has a pretty good solo mode as well.
That intro might be the best thing SUSD has ever done. I’ve watched it too many times. 😂
23:08 is hilarious, perfect and made my day.
Great writing and delivery. I laugh out loud many times when I watch your reviews. There were a few good ones here, but my favorite is when Tom was reviewing and ridiculing himself -- hilarious. Always informative too of course. On that note, I respect your unbiased tone as always. Thanks.
I purchased the pinball one because of this video. I collect and restore real ones and I hope this will be a good time! I might make a few tables of my own as well.
That was brilliant. Tom's slightly off brand intensity was most charming.
Pretty sure this is my first time commenting, but holy hell, I lost my mind at the Copenhagen joke. Kudos to you, internet funny folk
Tom that was a great review!!!
I gotta get myself a Sprite hoodie like this. Looks comfy and refreshing.
"It's still a free country...for now." _Oof_ . Hits a little close to home, Quinns.
So very glad you all promoted Rome and Roll. It is among the best games I played this year. How is Gonnen Konnen (Divvy Dice) not a part of this list though? It is a great game, and one that deserves more positive press.
@3:15 rolls the dice and results one of each color! Brilliant!
That pinball game is the thing i never needed but i am glad it exists so i can buy it..
Nice video!
I have been enjoying the free solo rpg, Ironsworn during isolation.
Tom's reviews are golden new-age review styles.
The sherlock homes pipe was a nice twist XD
that music still gives me chills every since I was a kid, tales of the unexpected... ?
wonderful reviews as ever, but i just wanna compliment tom on his shrigley mug!! good taste in games & artists 🌺
LOL at “This box just loves being horizontal today”
CAN'T WAIT for Alhambra roll and write
I was literally thinking "This MetroX is clearly not a fav..." when Quinns popped up and finished my sentence for me! Great video. I'm a big fan of Cartographers. Surely it's a crime though that Roll Through The Ages isn't on here?! Great video chaps!
Roland Write is still my favourite designer 😁
Someone should make a giant mechanical version of that Super Pinball game, they would make a fortune
Blood on the Clocktower is your favourite game, Quinns?
Things to never say again. There have been some conflicting comments around this one
@@kyleweeks2941 I am in the same boat. Some day, once things have returned to some semblance of normalcy, I look forward to celebrating by breaking the shrink wrap on this one.
Kyle Weeks a lot of people are playing it over discord - it works surprisingly well, if you’d like to join us?
Nonya Bidness Kyle Weeks a lot of people are playing it over discord - it works surprisingly well, if you’d like to join us?
Whats wrong with blood on the clocktower?
It is good to see you guys back together within a single vid, as it feels less like 3 guys with separate review channels sharing a site.
@Tom: I've heard that the key to accessorizing is choosing what you think looks the best and then removing a few things, I wonder if that is also true for adjectives?
loved this video.
Ahh Metro X is brilliant!
This review have given me 'a mere pinball schlub' 😉
My favorite roll and write hands down is Fleet the Dice Game. I do like Lanterns the Dice game but don't know if it would be on that list. I really like that they provide you with the polyominos instead of having you draw them.
Tom: Great mug there. That pinball game is great but definitely not right before bed takes too much brain power.
I am looking forward to the new expansion for Cartographers.
Finally! Doncaster is mentioned in Shut Up & Sit Down! The recognition it deserves!
Lol the music in this video is great
as someone who spent all of their free time pre-pandemic hanging out in my local pinball leagues and arcades and tournaments, I am absolutely losing my mind that someone has made a pinball roll-and-write to get me through the rest of the pandemic. Playing digital pinball is fine but just isn't the same! This feels like it could be a really engaging translation of all the pinball mechanics I'm used to IRL!
Was watching this on mute when my wife said you guys look like an 80s New Wave Band. You now have two new subscribers, LoL.
As soon as i heard "add that to the list" i knew The Teach would feature. I think about The Teach often. Im sure i heard Tom drop it in a podcast recently.
Look, I normally wouldn't worry about this kind of thing, but is there any chance someone could, you know, give Tom a hug?
"Multyball is the root of all evil" 🤣🤣
Things to NEVER say again. "Blood on the Clocktower is my favorite game."
Ouch
Matt is really good at this
The super skill pinball review is the greatest 4 minutes or whatever on youtube
Super Skill Pinball is fantastic!
I had to pause the video to laugh at the Sherlock pipe. Carry on.
"What I am saying is... this game actually makes you *feel like pinball* " I fuckin' died XD
