  • The pulse wave velocity is the speed at which pressure waves move along a blood vessel. This parameter can be used for indirect assessment of arterial stiffness. The speed of this movement gives an assessment of the malleability of the artery wall. With age or due to changes in the arterial wall, these vessels become more rigid and the speed at which the pressure wave moves through the system increases. To test the pulse wave velocity, two pulse sensors are used, which are located at some distance from each other. The specialized module of the LifePulsePro+ system is designed to measure the pulse wave velocity. In this case, a two-channel microprocessor unit and two pulse photometric sensors are used. One sensor is located on the finger, the other is located on the earlobe.
