Carnal Sins: Full Story of Novigrad Serial Killer (Witcher 3 Geralt Quest)

Telling this story, my dear reader, will tax me greatly. It is a dark and somber one, encompassing the greatest sorrow my heart has ever known. It all started the day of the grand opening of my cabaret. Everything had been spit-polished to perfection - all that was left was to wait for Priscilla, whose performance was to be the crowning moment of this glorious evening. Yet when the doors of the Chameleon burst open it was not she who stepped inside. Instead, it was a messenger from Vilmerius Hospital. His face pale and his countenance dour, he informed us Priscilla had been badly wounded in an assault - and was currently tottering on the brink of death.
1st Way (If Geralt kills Pastodi after speaking with him):
Geralt's investigation took him to Crippled Kate's, a pleasure house of questionable repute. It is there, according to the note left by the murderer in Patricia Vegelbud's body, that the fiend would take his next victim - a prostitute named Sweet Nettie.
Geralt entered the room and found the Reverend Nathaniel, whom he had met earlier at the morgue, inside, Though the situation seemed unambiguous - Nathanial [sic] was standing over Nettie with a white-hot poker in his hand - Geralt did not let his emotions get the better of him. He spoke calmly with the cruel pervert until he could identify the true murderer - then killed Nathaniel without batting an eye.
Hubert Rejk seemed like a kind, gentle and accommodating man - but in truth he was a bloodthirsty, brutal and murderous vampire, hiding a twisted and fanatical mind behind his never-changing mask of eternal youth. Geralt cut him down after an extraordinarily difficult duel, avenging Priscilla's suffering and saving the lives of countless others who surely would have died by this base monster's hands.
2nd Way (If Geralt spares Pastodi after speaking with him):

Fantastic editing brother, I love how there's no dialogue options. Really immerses the viewer, color me impressed

Yes, my only criticism, which is minor, is that at times he walked too fast and cut off dialogue with the good doctor. I wanted to hear more form him. Guess I'll have to play it myself. Finally. When I can afford a console. Sucks working two jobs and still barely saving any money at a decent rate. But tis the economy of the day.

I really got sucked into this one. I really liked pricilla. So I got really mad when she got hurt. It was personal. And I knew immediately after the first autopsy it was som wacko from the church of eternal fire

Only thing that bugged me was the part where Hubert somehow gets to the Vegelbud Estate before you. How did he get there first when you race off there before him and why would he lead you there in the first place since it means he could have been caught in the act? The only explanations I can think of is he, as a vamp, is way faster and can somewhat teleport. And that his intention was to try and frame Geralt for the murder or hopefully get him killed by the guards there since they do attack you. The game just doesn't make any of these possibilities and motives clear.

It's a good quest, but Witcher 3 lays it a bit thick against the church. Would've been more fun if the vampire was using the sadistic priest as a cover-up, playing on stereotypes about fanatics, but had a different aim.

Lays it on thick against the fictional Church of the Eternal fire?
The religious aspect works well here, the idea that Higher Vampires have centuries of time spent observing humans and studying different philosophical paths to better understand their new neighbours is recurring in the game. Regis is an example of a highly introspective and philosophical vampire whose moral outlook leads him to be compassionate. Huberts moral outlook leads him to become the opposite, the learnings of the Church have twisted his viewpoint and he sees nothing but sin in the city he resides. He's not entirely wrong, there is a lot of sin, but his punishments are far too harsh for the crimes he passes judgement on.
This is easily my favorite quest in the entire game, the story, the ambience and especially the dialogue are all incredible. Very few other quests in any game would prompt this much thought from me.

Even though I often show mercy, this character I always kill (after getting intel on the higher vampire). The other character I always kill is Morkvarg on Skellige. I felt like I would be doing a lot of harm by letting those two characters walk free since they are even more dangerous than most of the monsters in this game.
