The Rapidan Dam in south central Minnesota has accumulating debris and flooding along the Blue Earth River, local TV station FOX9 said.
In an alert notification, Blue Earth County Emergency Management added, "We do not know if it will totally fail or if it will remain in place, however we determined it was necessary to issue this notification to advise downstream residents and the correct regulatory agencies and other local agencies."

This dam was previously damaged by high water events. In 2022, Blue Earth County was debating whether they should repair this dam or remove it. It seems that the Blue Earth River has decided on removal, regardless of whether the county has or not. Luckily, the area downstream that is subject to flooding doesn’t contain any inhabited structures.
That was not a house that collapsed. It was the substation. And this is not in Iowa. It's in
South Central Minnesota. Just south of Mankato.
It is a house. There were 2 people living there.

That was a county garage, the sub station had already gone, and the house is part of the room in the trees.
How sad they lost there house
They need to put up fencing wall up in front of the dam to keep this from happening ever again. This way, the debris will never reach the dam again. Maybe even 2 fencing walls in front of it.

I hate to see stuff like that where people's work their whole life to get what they want and then it just gets destroyed by mother nature yes it's great to watch mother nature's power but I hate to see people lose everything they had that they worked hard for their whole life

Accuweather had another link to the Iowa flooding plus the MN dam footage.
Well I hope they turned off what ever that pole was for because it looked like it was for electric and that is going next.
Didn't help having all that built up debris which caused more water to back up instead of flowing freely. Should have tried to clear it out before this.

There is no imminent failure of the dam...unless that left abutment gives way.
So far it doesn't look like it will.
Had the water just poured over the top of the dam there would have been no problem....
But the water found a way around the dam...and there wasn't a spillway already carved into the left bank to channel the water...which has now channeled itself!
You build next to a river, one day that river will flood,so don't say I didn't know it would. 😮
That was part of the electric system building. House fell a little while ago or,portion of it fell.

Just some stuff. The house had been threatening to fall in for hours as the bank kept eroding beneath it. There is no way anyone was still inside it.

@@gehrigornelas6317 it’s going to. Which means the water will rise 2ft and have a pressure forcing anything in its way such as houses, building, trees etc. this will cost millions of dollars to fix.

Heard the dam failed in the news from foxweather (another source.) Heard 18 inches of rain caused this failure. Hope they evacuated that river bed because water moving like that cannot be stopped.
That was not a house. It was a building for the dam.
That was the hime of the folks who owns the dam store where they sell pies. A father and two siblings lived in that house. They might lose the stire as well. They have been there for many years. Lets get facts straight and lets not make jokes about folks losing their home.

@@gantmj there is live video of the house, and yes it is someones home, hanging on the edge all the day before and the little store is just a little further up the road in the 5 hr video, you can see a Pepsi sign and ppl going in and out of the store. This family lost their home to this devastating dam failure. Heartbreaking.

I think it was the house. The substation fell in a long time ago. There was a house there that had the earth being eroded from under it all day long. I guess it finally couldn't hold on.
