I love your work but please dont take shells that crabs can fit in. The flat ones you can take but please dont take ones that have a space your finger can fit in.
I am amazed at all the shells that are there. And I miss when I was a young girl, being able to walk the beach to find pretty shells and sand dollars. So sadly, they’re totally absent now.
It is okay to collect shells in moderation and just make sure you spread your search area out so you don't take all shells from one area and your fine! One individual collecting shells for her art is not what make the crabs homeless, it is massive sweeps of collecting of companies who use them for all kinds of stuff.
You shouldn’t collect the snail shells. The ones shaped like this 🐚. When they out grow them they need to find a new one to use. Otherwise they’re stuck using bottle caps or other pieces of garbage on the beach.
You can collect the broken ones that were flat, but please don't collect the crab ones or the completely intact ones - even if they are pretty - cause surprisingly enough sea animals need them more than you.
But the crabs need them for homes. 😪🦀💔 They're resorting to garbage because they can't always find shells as the humans take yet One More Thing from nature. 😥

Put those shells back! Those are homes for the creatures to grow or for those with Damaged shells
