Oh my, this is so exciting and inspiring! Thank you so much Jenny, for sharing this lovely technique. These random backgrounds are gorgeous and with your beautiful birds it's an (im)perfect match :-) It's nice to see the progress in your exploration of this technique, going from the palette left-overs, to the masking fluid, to Gelli plate. Now I want a plate like that too.. :-) But think I will settle for a thick nylon sheet or other plastic surface (It's fun rummaging around the house for make-shift art supplies). I'm imagining using some sort of lace fabric scraps, doilies, or even potatoes' nylon-thread bag between the surface with the paint and the paper. I have to say again that I find this randomness very inspiring! It opens up so many new possibilities!!
Hi Tulla! I am so happy that you enjoyed this technique, it is so much fun indeed. And you get a lovely result when using fabric scraps and the likes. I have never tried that with watercolours, but I have tried similar techniques with acrylic paint, and the possibilities are endless! Thank you so much for watching and giving me feedback!
It is really fun to play with, that is for sure. I bought mine online from Donna Downey's shop before she moved her shop to amazon. But you can find them on amazon at least, but I guess that other online art shops sell them as well. Search for gel printing, Gelli plate, Gelli print and you should find them. The link to amazon for many different sizes is here: www.amazon.com/s?k=gel+plates+for+printing&crid=3E2AVXM6AA2AB&sprefix=gel+plate%2Caps%2C323&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_9 Mine is 8"x10" and have never tried any other sizes, so I do not know what to recommend. It depends on what size paper you want to make your prints on.
Cool idea!
It's so much fun to do! Thank you for watching.
Thank you
Thank you for watching!

Det är så roligt att experimentera! Ha en underbar vecka du också! Kram!
Great idea Jenny. Your art work is awesome. Thank you.
Thank you, Maxie, I'm glad you liked it!
I tried this technique with cold-press on a hard surface and loved the results! Thank you for sharing!

You are incredibly talented! I watched one of your Art-Journal videos and I was blown away... I really admire your work.
Thank you so much, Vanessa. That makes me so happy to hear!
This is a very interesting way to do a background. I'd like to try something like this during Inktober, I am terrible with backgrounds 😅
This technique is perfect for inks! I also struggle with backgrounds, that is why I like this way of 'painting' so much!😁
I’m so old I never hear of a gelli plate, but I looked it up and I think I’ll have to get one! Any recommendations of source or size?💁🏼♀️

Jenny ~ Thanks, I've ordered one 8x10 and look forward to playing with it!🙋🏼♀️
You will love it! It is especially great to play with acrylic colours on it. There are a lot of videos here on CZcams for inspiration!
