I still remember seeing this version of Pretty Noose (the original Frank Kozik cut) on 120 minutes when the video debuted in May 1996. I was and continue to be blown away by the sheer visceral nature of the video. The video only played a couple of times before those boneheads at MTV banned the video for being 'too violent'. All done by the same bunch of losers that came up with Teen Mom.
That sucks...it got lots of play on Muchmusic in Canada. Stupid US censorship, I had no idea this video was only played a bit because it was deemed "too violent" on MTV Wow...they withheld a lot of great videos and songs. It's heartbreaking

For me it goes Down on the Upside, Badmotorfinger, Louder than Love, King Animal, Ultramega OK...and then Superunknown. I know that opinion isn't the popular one, especially given that Superunknown did better sales-wise, but Down on the Upside just hit me in the chest in a way that nothing else they've done ever did. There's a speculation that this is the album that broke them up for a decade and a half, and maybe it did - that rawness of emotion would lend credence to that theory. I don't care. This album will always be the pinnacle of SG for me.
I had this recorded from MTV on VHS. I saw it 1 billion times even though I had to rewind it, fast forward it etc. All that hassle made me appreciate this song and video even more. 👏🤩

A that was the best time in my life... Getting my own apartment, grunge came and me and my friends were just getting one year older. Lots of girls, lots of hash, lots of beers and again only 20 years old. I could say the same for all us who were young i the '90tees. But instead of jumping around just listen to what the music makes you feel.
His backup singing on the second chorus (you can hear it better with headphones) is super haunting. The melodies harmonizing in contrast just really gives me almost an uncomfortable feeling.
