    If you're in Southern California, don't hire "Superior Environmental" for mold remediation. Part of the contract ($1,870.00) was for negative-air filtration and two-stage decontamination unit. They did neither of these things. What a disaster. Complete negligence.

    HVAC systems are terrible! I just moved from an old apartment built in the 40’s with window units and it worked fine. Now I’m in a home with hvac and it was nice at first, but I’m noticing musty smells (no visible mold anywhere) and it’s awful because now I’m in a sealed house recirculating that air. Many companies say not to open your windows ever bc it’s too hard on the ac system. Just what? I like to crack window for fresh air. With my window units too, the exhaust all vented outside. If there was a leak? Vented outside. If the unit broke? easy and not outrageously expensive to repair or replace.

    What if we can't find the mold but can tell there's mold in our home. There's nothing visible but I know when it's mold making me sick and we just bought this house 2 years ago. Air sample test showed 4,600/m3 in one spot of Aspergillus penicillium vs 1 outside.

      I hope you are doing well now. You could call biocide labs. They have the product called mold bomb fogger. I don't work for them. I just used it on my boyfriend's house and he was a slob and he had let something go in the basement, the HVAC brought it up through the whole house... I use the mold bomb and it really worked. It's this super fine particulate that gets everywhere but yet it's not messy. But of course you have to make sure you know where the water damage is coming from and stop it.

    I heard alot of negative feedback about the ram air duct system. It isnt able to clean out the main trunk lines. you would have to still use an air whip and set up your negative air machine and suck out one supply at a time. it also doesnt clean return lines easily

    • @tamps2147
      @tamps2147 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yea the best thing to do is sealed them. Those fiber glass duct can’t really be cleaned. Any agitation it’s going to start braking it apart. It would look like it’s cleaned BUT everything time your unit kicks on it will be sending out small pieces of fiberglass. I work for a duct cleaning company here in Dallas and we found that out the hard way about 5 years ago. They looked super clean when we were done but the costumer called back 2 days later. Costumer was complaining about coughing a lot ever time the unit turned on. You could run your hand ontop of any piece of furniture and you could see all that shiny fiberglass. Long story short company had to pay to reroute all new ducts in attic and closed out the fiberglass ones. Till this day we don’t touch any fiberglass ducts. Anyone is gonna say they can clean them but be really careful.

    • @lauriethomas4145

      This just happened to me. Worst decision of my life. Air duct cleaning company didn’t know what they were doing. Used a rotobrush on fiberglass ducts. Yellow fiberglass dust everywhere for days. Hired another company to encapsulate fiberglass with fiber lock, and now I’m worried about vocs. Had to get air quality testing and hire a professional crew to clean all surfaces and industrial air scrubbers for 5 days. A total nightmare. Does anyone know about encapsulation/ sealants and air quality?

    Hi, Just curious, do you always filter the air before expelling it outside? And do you ever just filter the air in the effected area without any ducting to clean the existing air? If you are venting the filtered air outside, Are you also pumping new fresh air into the area or at least have an open window to let new air come in? Thanks

    What about inside the air intake? I live in a rental and the unit is inside my kitchen closet and covered in black mold and white mold! My landlord doesn’t understand how dangerous this is with my health issues. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen even when googling photos. He thinks it just needs cleaning! It needs to be replaced at this point!

  • @samwimpy2600
    @samwimpy2600 Před 3 lety +1

    I have had a mold remediation company into my home to address mold in my basement due to an external a/c condensate line that allowed water to drain back toward my basement wall and worked itself into the basement. Also had a disposal leak under kitchen sink and they are addressing that as well!
    I have noticed some mold in my HVAC air ducts, all internal...none showing external to the vents. I don't believe it is that advanced. Naturally, I am trying to save cost so I am addressing this part on my own! I don't have the equipment to clean the entire system. I do have a ULV tri-jet Concrobium fogger. If I don't have the entire system cleaned, could it still be beneficial for me to clean/disinfect each air vent and as far into the duct as I can reach followed by fogging my HVAC air duct system? I have read to place the fogger at the return air vent, turn on the fan only and that should help pull the Concrobium throughout my duct work! Would it also be beneficial to turn the system off completely and fog each air vent opening?

    • @chellybabyme
      @chellybabyme Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not an expert but I've been through it. I didn't hear anything about concrobium that was good. It's not the right chemical. I can't explain that quickly here but I know more than I can actually explain. If you want a frog something like vents, close it all up except for one entry point. Then leave it fog for as much long as you can. Then continue the fog as you run that unit so that the fog follows the same path as the dirty airflow that polluted it. You kind of have some of the right ideas.

    • @samwimpy2600
      @samwimpy2600 Před 14 dny +1

      @illes_invest It's hard to say just how effective, if any, fogging my air vents turned out to be.
      The biggest part of the mold issue in my home was where the water leaks existed, which is where the mold remediation effort was focused.
      However, I thought of the hvac system as a supplemental part of the overall mold issue.
      Had I not also treated my air ducts, I believe I would still have mold related issues in my home.
      Based upon that analogy, which relies upon several assumptions, I believe my air duct treatment was successful!
      It's hard to say, but if faced w/ the same issue again, I would definitely treat my air ducts!
      Hope this is helpful
