Explanation:
as per the story that goes on in the film uttaman(kamal) needs to gain the confidence of mutharasan(nassar), the king. so, he acts as if he is willing to give his immortal power to the king.
Now kamal blends his art and his deep knowledge in history as well as science so as the screenplay is not carried away somewhere but still delivering his strong content.
If u see the song related to story it looks pretty ordinary. that is uttaman tries to win the confidence of his king.
But if we go into the song with deep thinking we would get to the point.
In tamil literature(Seiyul) always Uvamai(example) plays an important role. Those days befor modern era arised all tamil writers used it to deliver their strong messages through the uvamai. These days these kindaa songs have become very rare.
kamal starts of this song with a line kaniyar kanitha kannaku padi thaan kaanum ulagithu vatta pandham where he means that those days the astrologers thought of that earth was the center and sun and all other planets revolved around the earth. thats y astrologers believe moon to also be a planet. So he says that the world he sees is round as predicted by the astrologers filled with all strange people (mixture of bad and good).
Since the film happens in those days he takes the liberty to his imagination that uttaman also believes astrologer's words(that is earth is center).
So he says vatta pandhai vattamadikkum matra pandhum pogum maande that is all the space elements that revolves around earth(particularly planets and moon) will die one day. That is one day everything will die and their is nothing called immortal.(But, he says it indirectly). If he makes that really understandable he can never gain king's confidence.
He also specifically mentions the so called immortal sun(maala oliyaam nyaayirum kooda pogum karindhe) also is mortal one day in one eon(yugam). Here he uses the science where modern scientists believe sun would go dark after 5 million years where all sun's energy gets sucked by black holes present inside the sun itself and it becomes a black lightless ball. thats y he uses the word karindu( like a black charcoal that gets burned into ashes).
Then he says karindu erindhum veditha pinnum udhikkum kuzhambil uyirgal mulaikkum after turning into black ball the lava sprouts out in all directions which gives rise to new stars similar to sun which once again gives back the evolution of life forms.
gives back the evolution of life forms like "mulaithu murindhum thulirkum vaazhai thann maranathule vaithathu vidhai hii" how a banana stem sows another banana seed after it becomes dead the same way its a cycle where "we humans are mortal(to be understood)".
like evolution of lifeforms as a cycle and like banana life is a cycle "VIDHAITHIDUM MEI POL ORU UYIRAI UYIRTHU VILANGUM EN KAVIDHAI VILANGUM" which means that,
We sow the seeds like us in our children and we can see ourselves in them. We are indirectly regenerated through our children. The same way like these(evolution of lifeform, banana tree and regeneration in our heirs) my song will be (UYIRTHU VILANGUM EN KAVIDHAI VILANGUM).
That is he has already said about mortality physically and only through our children we are immortal.(vilangi thulangidum vamsam vaazha)
(vaazhum naalil kadamai seiya seiyul pol oru kaadhal vendum seiyul pol oru kaadhal vendum). So in the time period we are existing just love all unconditionally like how love is shown in the literature. That is in tamil literature mostly old songs comprises of love, romance for which many wars have took place.
"vendiyathelaam vaaitha oruvan saavayum vendi setha kadhaigal aayiram undu". This was probably written with the character bhisma from mahabharata. Even after getting the status of immortality(chiranjeevi) the character bhisma wants to die because his grandchildren are fighting and dying in the warfield.
That is he is warning the king inspite of all explanations given above if u try to get immortal status u would also regret it and want to die one day.
That is he is overall saying to his audience try to show love towards the humans unconditionally in the mean time of ur existence between birth and death cycle and don't try to overprotect urself.
According to screenplay the king thinks of that uttaman wants to become mortal and is willing to give his immortal power to king.
In tamil these type of song narration is known as sledai. That is same content delivering two different meanings yet the same words are used. Really, kamal is a genius.
I can explain sledai little more deeply. Even u might have come across it. A poet(i forgot his name) was offered a glass of milk for his poem after the cheese was filtered with a cloth. After drinking the milk he grimmed. The king saw his gesture and asked whether the milk was bitter in taste. since it was a big sabhai(hall will many members learned) he wanted to convey the bitterness in milk also to make the king feel comfortable that his decision was correct to remove cheese from milk. So he replied that," Paalum kasakavillai, paal pizhindha thuniyum kasavillai" That is "the milk is not bitter(kasakkavillai) and the cloth used to remove the cheese is also not squeezed and washed(kasakkavillai). Same word (kasakkvillai) used for delivering different contents.
Also, i forgot to mention this. In tamil literature this form of songs are classified as andhadhi(that is the end of one word in a line or para becomes starting word for the next line or para). At last the final word will be the first word of the song. Like a maalai(garland). Generally this technique used to praise a poet by another poet as the song will be like garlanding to the praised poet by the praising poet.
Just try to write the poem in tamil and see the andhadhi style used by kamal in the song.
