    Hey guys! So I visited Tendo to meet my friend Yamaguchi San, who showed me around his ryokan, Takinoyu. It's a well-known ryokan in Yamagata as it often holds shogi (Japanese Chess) title matches! We then went on to visit a Shogi shop, and then the magical Ginzan Onsen. Finally, we ended the night back in Tendo for some izakaya fun!

    What makes Japanese culture so fascinating is you can really feel that a huge building block is a lot of people doing their best at the same time. When everything comes together it really shows.

    I love the authenticity you present Japan with. You know what a westerner wants to see with the understanding of a Japanese person. You ask questions someone like me would want answered before I would turn up, and I do appreciate it.

    I love when the subtitles and actual spoken dialogue mean two different things. 😂 Thanks to the editors for that.

    Ha! We actually stayed at Takinoyu in June! It was a beautiful hotel. Making our own onsen eggs there was fun! We also went to Gozeta bar next door where you are walking out of at the end of the video. The girls in there are lovely and the food was amazing!

      We were talking more about takinoya this afternoon. We remembered how all the lovely staff ran out into the car park across the road to help us with bringing our luggage into the hotel. Then they gave us a tour of the hotel after that. Definitely one of the best hotels I've stayed in, in Japan. I imagine back when it opened it would have been the place that movie stars and royalty would have stayed!

    Looks like so much fun Ryotaro! Theres a certain charm to it in rainy/cloudy weather that im glad you were able to show especially the view of it when its dark. Beautiful architechture that just baffles to me that its real. Can't say I feel strongly towards Shogi but was fun learning small pieces of its history. Thank you for all that you do Ryotaro these videos are very much appreciated and always exciting.

    Thats great that there is “no problem”😅 of entering public onsen with tattoos here! The rules are slowly changing 🎉🎉

    • @tinachen9728
      @tinachen9728 Před 8 měsíci

      The dark history of the tattoo is because of the yakuza from the past they put tattoos on them selves to represent their rank and what they did to get the tattoo,so that is why the tattoo was needed to be covered in the public bath because people don’t like yakuza or a person in a gang, is they are both dangerous if you in the past if you accidentally got rid of one of their members you would be on their bad side and you will come out not living anymore. That is why tattoos is not view as an art form like in the US or other western culture but in some Asia culture it is viewed as a dangerous person with power and money and guns so don’t take as a offensive if some older generations of Japanese people don’t like tattoos is because of the dark history of it in the 80’s is ways before I was even born.

We did book at another Ryokan at Tendo and will take the tour organised by Tendo onsen to Ginzan as we couldn't book a room at Ginzan onsen itself. So definitely looking forward to our visit next year!!! Now I'm actually considering if I should change our Ryokan to Takinoyu.
