Unfortunately, only foreigners find it cheap to live in the Philippines bc wages in the Philippines are quite low :(( that's why a lot of Filipino families have family members working abroad to live better lives bc you can never have that in the Philippines for a minimum wage. This is the reality for Filipinos.

I've watched someone from the US being interviewed and he said that he is homeless in the US because his pension can't afford the rent there, while here, he can have semi furnished 1 room apartment for $200. So he lives decently here. Not extravagant but he is living and not just surviving.

@ChrisSauer-oe5ve I am sorry, but you are absolutely wrong and do not know what you are talking about. A person on a pension can live very comfortably in Arkansas while setting money aside in the bank every month.

Its dirt cheap if you're using basic foreign money to live in the Phils. Im also an expat and even an american earning $50k annually will live a comfortable life in the Phils. As a half filipino its nice as a vacation spot but if you really want the TRUE Philippine life then try to visit the poverty parts of the Philippines which is most of the country. Or try driving around quezon city, metro manila traffic. The bad part about these types of posts is they only show the tourist lifestyle(beach, vacation, trips, drinking, party) and not what REAL life is in this country.

@paranoya733 If by teen you mean over 18, yeah occasionally. Personally I've never seen it. 40yr old like Tim K marrying a 19yr old does happen rarely. 70's guys dating 18 yr Olds?
Never seen it. When I go to the mall and see expats, 90% have older wives/GF. Maybe 10 years of difference. Im 63 and my Filipina is 41. That's a bigger gap than I normally see. Frankly I was surprised by all this because there are some bloggers that thrive on the hot young Filipina thing, but they are the outliers.
My response was based on that, as I took it to understand you think the only reason to be here is to get a teenager, even under 18. In some provinces that will get you seriously injured as well as incarcerated for years b4 you even see a judge let alone go to trial.
Are there sexpats here only looking for young legal age girls? Sure but you could say the same for famous Hollyweird actors where 30-50 year age gaps are celebrated by the same people that condemn all "Passport Bros" as Pedophiles or at least creepy.
      Have a blessed day.

Pro Tip: treat the local nicely. If you are in the good mood, smile to them, do the reverse head nod thingy (I dont know what its called in english 😂) to the Male residents as a form of what's up.
You'll be surprise with the occasional meals brought to your door (especially in close small community). Consider returning the favor as much as you can, maybe prepare a meal unique from your home town to keep it consistent.
Not only you get a taste of fresh home cooked meals, it'll create a familial bond with your new neighbors which is always a good thing.

They have IPhone and not a less expensive model-
There are 50-60 family members because they don’t use birth control or common sense-

The same cannot be said for ordinary Filipino workers. We wish to have the same western income as you guys, but that would upset this delicate economy and cause prices to rise up quickly (as the last price hike wasn't bad enough)

I'm glad you posted this clip. I am glad you all are having a great time and enjoying life. Much luv. Anyway let me inform people before they decide to live there without planning. Because they look at videos and clips like this. Yes, the Philippines is very affordable. A lot of expats move there. But you need to plan well prior to moving there. There are too many expats out there broke and homeless. They don't even have enough money to leave the country. All because they assumed it was very cheap. So they went out there with a certain amount of money thinking it was sufficient. Nope. Another thing he forgot to mention. You can't own a house unless you are married to a Filipino citizen. You can own a condo. However, it needs to be occupied by certain percentage of Filipinos. I know this because I'm married to a Filipina and I have two kids there. I'm glad they are promoting the Philippines. Majority of the places are beautiful. Most of the people are very kind. Most of the stuff out there are cheap. But not everything. In comparison to the US and other countries. Yes! If you decide to move there. Have a plan and enough money. You will definitely be fine with a pension. Enjoy the beautiful country.
One last thing. Pretty much everything is in English. Most of the people speak English. It is taught in schools. It's one of the national languages. Although there are at least 180+ dialects spoken there.

Because that's what I get from the VA too..might as well live in the Philippines regardless few things are expensive, in the Philippines there are no mass shootings, there are no people smoking drugs in public, expenses are nothing compared to the US, super cheap to live in the Philippines, just for the fact that you pay $200 per month for an apartment or a small house is worth to live in the Philippines!

Try visiting ILOILO CITY, it's the Philippines' best-kept-secret. It's the Cleanest and Most Beautiful City in the Philippines. It's more beautiful than Cebu. White sand beaches are in Guimaras Island, 20 minutes away by fastcraft boat. Boracay is a pleasant 5-hour air-conditioned bus from ILOILO. Most Bike-Friendly City in the Philippines, too. Iloilo has got everything you would ever need to continue living the convenient western way of life that you have been comfortable with in your country. If you are a fitness enthusiast, Iloilo is your happy place. It is fit the best well-maintained parks, plazas, public flower gardens, and extensive riverside and creekside Esplanades with endless jogging and strolling paths, flowerbeds, fragrant flowering trees, royal palm trees, shrubbery, colorful bougainvilleas, and fragrant vines in trellises. Museums, art galleries, outdoor murals. Food is superb
ILOILO CITY is the UNESCO CREATIVE CITY OF GASTRONOMY IN THE PHILIPPINES.

Hey Jon, I enjoyed the video and discussion. For me, riding is just about getting out on my own for a bit, and enjoying the countryside. I usually like to try and get "lost" just taking random turns and discovering different roads and areas. Often times, I find myself on a mix of quiet blacktop and dirt, sand and gravel. I don't hesitate to go anywhere on the KLR, although deep sand makes me nervous. (Some roads can turn loose and "fluffy" in spots)
...I carry a collapsible rod and gear in my trunk if I feel like casting a line for a bit at the many swamp creeks and channels that network through my area.

Where the so called cheap amenities are cheap enough for the dollars to come in but astronomically expensive for the ordinary Juan Dela Cruz (Filipino) to come anywhere near.
Sadly, even the builders (masons and carpenters) who once built and tirelessly labored for those establishments are not allowed or able to enjoy the benefits of the work of their hands 🥺😭
