Song recommended by one of my Instagram followers!! This song SAVED these characters. I didn't know how to introduce them, and I thought this song was perfect for it.
Aster (jolteon) is a retired explorer, and is done with adventures and adrenaline, he's pretty chill and likes to take things slow. Koen (umbreon), on the other hand, wishes for more, but he respects his partner, and decides to stay silent. He can wait.
Koen and Aster are kind of a parody of Nissa and Jaz. I created them when I noticed a lot of people were complaining that my espeon/sylveon oc's weren't paired with an umbreon. So here's umbreon, paired with someone else too.
This was supposed to come out in June. I think the reason is pretty obvious. But I had some college shit on my way and delayed the process. Also my animal crossing pocket camp obsession came back and that also delayed the process.
I want to point out though, that these are not like a genderbend version of Nissa and Jaz or whatever, Nissa is a strange being that can be anything solely depending on probability. Schrodinger's eevee. (I think I didn't explain this to you, my youtube people. But Nissa is part of a weird romhack thingy, and when the player plays as her, she can be any eeveelution and gender)
Koen doesn't have this kind of issue, so he's just a guy.

The song is kinda told from the perspective of the girl who's trying to get the attention of a guy who kinda just accepted being alone and found his peace. The girl wants to boggle his mind and show him what he is missing out on.
Being since the guy has been alone his whole time, he probably doesn't know what it's like to be around someone and therefore doesn't feel alone. Which is why the Jolteon looks peaceful and relaxed.

The way the outlined Koen in an empty background represents his desires and thoughts before overlapping with the fully colored version, indicating hes ready to say how he feels to Aster was beautifully done.

Right at 1:00 when he says "I wanna open your eyes!" it's such perfect animation and so smooth and satisfying to watch. I can't get enough of this.
I love the bits with outlined Koen talking to Aster, its so smooth and fits the song extremely well. Like it was a 'o shit!' moment for sure!
I used to draw Pokémon a lot when I was younger and the two characters I drew the most were a Jolteon named Spark and an Umbreon named Shade. So this video makes me so happy. This animation is literally so cute and the song fits it so well. I love your animating style and you’ve really inspired me to start drawing again. Its not just the visuals of this that make me love this, but it's also so relatable. Wanting to scream out how you feel about people but don't want to risk ruining how things currently are. At least, thats how I interpreted it, and it really is something I relate to.
I honestly really love the ship of Jolteon and Umbreon and I personally believe that unique ships like this on and the Espeon and Sylveon one are just perfect.
I love how the jolteons eyes glow for just a second right before that amazing transition. This is done beautifully.
This animation just blows me away, something about it is just so majestic, out of all the animations I’ve watched, this one just captures emotions, scenery, and atmosphere so well! I still cant wrap my head around the warm feeling this animation gives off- You’re one of my biggest inspirations now! Edit: There is SO MUCH LIFE in this animation! From the wobbling (noticeable on everything and when on still frames) to the mouth movements and stances and the movement ITSELF feels like I'm actually looking at an animation of ACTUAL CREATURES!
And I can't get over the transitions and the outlining to emphasize the character's internal monologue-- I AM HYPERFIXATING ON AN ANIMATION, OH MY GOD.
Edit: THERE'S NO WOBBLE TO EMPHASIZE THE BREEZE DURING THE MONOLOGUE OH MY LORD.
Only problem I have with it is how there's only one inbetween frame between when Koen (Umbreon) goes from stood to the side to the same pose Aster (Jolteon) is in (1:08). I feel like it should take a few more steps to get there.

I saw this on Instagram earlier today! God I love this animation so much it’s so difficult to put into words to properly accentuate my awe. The storytelling is just so wonderful… I just couldn’t stop rewatching!
The first shot of Koen holding his mouth after his thoughts bursted so strongly for a physical reaction is such a fantastic scene to see… the colour scheme changing is phenomenal! The concept for the two with the umbreon being more “electric” than the jolteon is such a cool trait and I love the reversal take on the classic personalities normally seen for each eeveelution. It’s just so cool!!!

I wonder if Koen will continue to stay silent? Will he ever receive that “more” he’s looking for? I know he respects his partner and can wait, but for how long can his patience run? Or will Aster ever _even_ come out of retirement to go back exploring?

i cant believe im still re watching this after its release, its honestly not just talented because you can feel the time and energy put into it. this is what passion is, to most its just a simple clip but its emotional impact you feel when watching it just shows how much it meant to them just creating it.

How we all feel around that one special person
People were COMPLAINING that the Espeon wasn't with a Umbreon?? Like ok, first off-go make your own then. Second, it's an over-saturated ship. This was an adorable animation and I don't care who is paired with who, I'm just here to cry like a proper PMD fan because this is the only way I can feel things anymore.
It's like the ships are selected by their matching colors, first, Espeon and Sylveon both of them are pink (kinda lmao but u get it) and now Umbreon and Jolteon with their yellow. Idk if it was coincidental but they both fit so well together. Super cute and the animation is always stunning

I am in love with the way you animate. I especially love the part where Koen’s rings reflect in the water, a detail I wasn’t expecting. And the way Koen’s loud internal thoughts were shown with the yellow outlines and all that just really resonates with me. I know it’s not that deep, but it’s still beautiful nonetheless :’D
I just can’t stop rewatching. The fluidity of the animation and the emotions felt by the lyrics and expressions, I just can’t get over it! You inspire me to take a drawing class in college even though I lack the skills.
Between being partially mute at times and crippling social anxiety, this hits really close to home. All the things I wish I'd said but never could make myself. Not to mention the cadence disparity between the inner monologue when they're all emotional and not. Beautiful work, actually cried for the first time in ages.

Something about this fucks me up inside like damn, even if she does get her way he probably wouldn't react as she hopes.
On rewatches though i noticed the adventure she wants is one that stems from just in that moment, something inconsequential and fun, just wanting to do things with him all day and sit back at the surface more then ok, it's too sweet.
And at the end when they realize he is just, so happy, sitting there with them or in a quiet life, they seem to have got it all out and realized from the fantasy that it is ok.
The way his scar is pointed towards her too...

This video makes me kinda want to cry, besides the music, the video represents well the feeling of this Umbreon wanting to show what she feels for Jolteon but she hides it and well, as frustrating as the fear of telling Jolteon about her feelings is, she kinda accept it and this is great for identifying because many people prefer to keep things to themselves no matter how good they are for fear of the reaction of others and well, it makes the video kinda melancholy as it brings the uncertainty of whether in fact jolteon could actually boggle jolteon's mind. I know it seems like I interpreted it very wrong but I interpreted it that way :cf

I absolutely love the calm set up and the sudden pick up of emotion showing, your animation is so smooth and lively. Seeing umbreon jumping around like that was amazing, transitions were fire. Love that.

everything about it is just, incredible. the timing of everything being with the song, a simple thing that people mess up ALL THE TIME, love it.
the style being messy and somewhat simple, but still having so much detail at the same time is incredible.
the reflection in the water while not advanced, shows all it needs to and in my opinion is really great looking and clever.
the show of wind actually looks good too, I've seen this messed up so much.
and don't get me started on the whole fast paced part of the song. it just looks, sounds and feels incredible.
the simple story told though just one minute is cute and really deep for just over a minute animation.
