Was thinking the same. I can only see it as high risk, high reward.
Not saying I agree with the trend but you will find it's because they've removed the penalty for when the ball doesn't make it past 10m.

@@gattingbowledwarne Anyone who says this should never ever play poker. Game theory says you benefit a lot more getting possession back up to 50% of the time depending on how good the kicker is, vs getting an extra 20 metres for a 99% chance of facing a set from the opposition. Also teams are more dangerous from 20-30 out than ever these days. It's almost an advantage to be able to set moves from deeper
I can't believe how brainless most fans and pundits are. Facing a guaranteed set is more likely to mess you up than a larger chance of conceding but a decent chance of getting the ball back where the chance of conceding drops to near zero. Having the ball is far more important than anything in this game

So are Manly. Think about how well they played against adversity yesterday, then remember back to how poor they were earlier this season against the Dragons in Wollongong.
Its been like that all year. We'll win games, like yesterday. Then we'll lose games like we did at home against Canberra.
