- Online with VATSIM at Uncontrolled airport, Soekarno-Hatta (WIII). On departure to WIEE we encountered a Runway Incursion (Category 1 - Pilot Deviation) from company aircraft on takeoff at in the PMDG 737-800.

This is why you ALWAYS announce intentions on UNICOM especially with runway crossings. Regarding the use of HUD, it’s not super necessary as it was in broad daylight but you could argue that it was a low RVR. Good reaction to the plane👍

You either use HUD 100% of the time, or not at all. It shouldn’t be weather dependent. I’ve flown with guys that only use it when the weather is near minimums, and it’s downright scary. They have no clue what they’re looking at, so why add the unnecessary risk?
Not exactly what I'd call low RVR, the visibility here is well over a mile. On a day like this, the visibility wouldn't even be low enough for RVR to be reported in the ATIS.

I remember flying Garuda from Jakarta to Denpasar when I was a kid and they let me sit in the cockpit while they landed. Didn't know it at the time, but that was a *major* violation of safety. It sure was fun though!

We were all beginners at some point in time and it is all about learning :) I still get that nervous feeling of messing up myself so dw to much, thats what makes it fun. The best thing is to log into vpilot in 'Observer mode' you are invisible to everyone else but can still see and hear everyone. Then just follow along with a flight or sit and listen and do practice calls to yourself with a pen and paper. It is always in the same atc forma,t so easy to remember once you learn. Hope to see you on vatsim sometime :)

You might be hearing 2 different sound packs at different times. Which sound is it that you like? And i can help you out :)

For Vatsim, i'm not hearing anything on the radio, even if you're on UNICOM, i'm not hearing a word from other anyone
I never heard anything on Unicom either, it was an uncontrolled tower. I think they were just doing whatever they wanted and not transmitting intentions on frequency. I am pretty sure they even landed the wrong way or got lost LOL
if that was one of my VA pilots id be having serious words with him/her about that and prehaps re-training or fired good braking and timing aswell

You could literally see the aircraft encroaching from before the takeoff roll started....
Yeah you can, but when in game and you don't hear any aircraft on unicom then make your call, it's the last thing i expected. Also the main thing is that halfway down the runway i got distracted by the brightness of the HUD so the takeoff roll didn't have my full attention :)
I would have called a VATSIM supervisor on that guy.

No atc was online unfortunately, this was uncontrolled so only unicom, but could you imagine if there was a controller hahaha

Center Fuel Tanks are off (config warning) but have fuel in the tanks :)
Great spot :) I've been using 2,500kg and under 'Centre Fuel Tank Pumps OFF' for take off to avoid caution light but just re-checked in the FCTM and it is 2,300kg and under 'Centre fuel tank pumps OFF' for takeoff, although this was in 2005 so im sure it has been revised to a much lower weight since the new fuel tanks. I have to try and get my hands on an updated FCTM. Cheers
Depending on the MSN of the aircraft and the company ops, the CTR tanks don't have to be on from the get go

It’s the same 737 you just have to enable the MMR and HUD through the CDU. PMDG setup > Aircraft > Equipment then go through the options

I did use them. It's hard to see but when i switch to outside view i check the reversers are closing and you can just see them close

took way too long to see that danger.
I agree, the HUD brightness got me distracted, then when i seen him i thought there is no way he isn't stopping lol so took a few more seconds. Lesson learnt, not everyone is using unicom and check HUD before lining up :)
but it can be quite hard to tell on vatim if the aircraft had the intention of holding. Its not really a danger until they have crossed the line
i agree, for most of the takeoff it seemed the aircraft had plenty of time to stop. guess the fog wasnt helping much
center fuel pumps?
At the time i remembered 2,500kgs = OFF. But it is, over 453kgs and under 2,300kgs, CTR fuel tank pumps off for takeoff so that there is no chance of the 'low pressure' caution light to illuminate, due to the high angle of attack on take off and early climb. The fuel sensors are at the front of the tanks and the fuel moves backwards (PMDG models this, have a look on your next takeoff). This way there is no distraction that could cause a problem on departure. Switch them back on above FL100
In the Boeing FCOM it will say - over 453kgs CTR fuel pumps on. But SOP's say ^ :)

Read description. Old mate couldn't hear, he wasn't on unicom freq and i used bad language so removed mic audio. What made me post this, is because its nearly the 'Tenerife Airport Disaster' :p
