Storyline:
On a mission with Arthur, Merlin meets Morgana who saw him commanding her dragon, thus knows about his magic. Merlin tells her that he still believes in Arthur and that he will be the one to let magic back to Camelot.
But when Arthur sees Merlin doing magic he has him arrested. Merlin escapes and finds Morgana, he tells her that he will help her kill Arthur and bring magic back to Camelot.
Together, Merlin and Morgana attack Camelot and it comes to an emotional conversation between Merlin and Arthur in which Merlin tells him that he was born with his magic and had no choice but to hide it since Arthur executed sorcerers.
For the greater goal to bring magic back to the kingdom, Merlin has to fight not only Arthur, but also the knights that were his friends. He kills Lancelot and is about to kill Arthur but Gaius stops him using magic. Gaius brings Merlin to his chambers and tries to talk him out of trying to kill Arthur, but Merlin doesn't listen to him.
He takes Morgana, who passed out after the ceiling collapsed, and leaves Camelot.
Gaius knows that they will attack again and he's trying to warn Arthur about how powerful Merlin is.
Before it comes to the battle of Camlann, Merlin commands the dragon to forge a blade in his breath which he gives to Mordred, who stabs Arthur with it in Camlann.
Arthur tries to get to the island where he hopes to be cured, but Merlin cuts him off and stays until he is dead.

Merlin: You betrayed me.
Arthur: I trusted you.
Merlin: I was born with it!
Arthur: You lied to me all this time.
Merlin: You gave me no choice.
Gaius: For brother will slaughter brother. For friend will murder friend.
Gaius: casts spell

Gaius: I do understand how you must feel, Merlin.
Merlin: You could never understand.
Gaius: Please... do not do this.
Merlin: I'm sorry. I had no choice.
Gaius: Arthur... He doesn't just have magic. There are those who say he's the greatest sorcerer ever to walk the earth.
Merlin: If you value your lives... you won't take another step.
Man: You don't even have sword.

Merlin: I don't need one.
Gaius: There's no escape, Arthur.

The only thing I find hard to accept in this scenario - is that Merlin would kill Lancelot: he was the first ‘outsider’ to learn about Merlin’s powers- & they ended up with a devoted friendship... but other than that, it’s pretty good.
You're right, it's hard to believe that Merlin would ever do such a thing. But when the show started nobody would have thought that Morgana would try to kill Arthur, Merlin or Gwen either 🤷🏼♀️ And after all, the Merlin in this video is not the Merlin we know, he's not forgiving or kind-hearted anymore, he's ready to do whatever it takes to achieve his goal.
And as a knight of Camelot it's Lancelots duty to fight him since he has become an enemy of Camelot.
(Good thing dark Merlin isn't actually a real thing, bc it would have killed me if Merlin had killed Lancelot xD)
Plus, I really wanted to do that manip at 0:59 😂

Call me sad, but I *_still_* feel like that was a mistake- even after all these years - they could have developed Morgana into a much more conflicted antagonist, rather than go the simplistic route of- as I call it, ‘screaming evil’.
@@OcarinaSapphr- Well, I mean, she had her moments in every season if you know what I mean xD
In season 2 she had a few moments with Merlin right after everything began, in season 3 she had some real and emotional talks with Merlin, too (especially in 3x02), in season 4 there was this one moment in the finale with Arthur where we saw how hurt she really was and also plenty of moments where we saw many glimpses of her humanity (the way she was afraid of Emrys, + the nightmares she had in season 5) and in season 5 Mordred was the one person who might have been able to get her to the good side again (their conversation from the first clip in the video, where she was almost crying too) She had a really emotional bond to him and she genuinely cared for him and Aithusa).
But yes, I think they could have shown her emotional side more often.
Like holy crap, this is what I needed, man. This is- this is so powerful. I seriously would love to see an alternative Merlin where he turns on Arthur and becomes evil. Though I know that won't happen.

It's not that much of a stretch if you think about it. Arthur killed his love (unknowingly or whatever) and hates magic (mostly bc of morgana)

I personally have started one but that was way back so it's really not a good one and I'll never upload it, but maybe one day I'll start a new one 😅😂 But there are other dark Merlin Fanfictions I think, just Google it and you should find some
