    LYRICS
    She told me, why
    She told me lies
    Always take care of this
    I told her how
    I've always stayed
    Always waiting for nothing
When I get out of here
    When I leave you behind
I'll find that the years passed us by
When I get out of here
    When I leave you behind
I'll find that the years passed us by
    And I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
    Yes, I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
When you get out of here
    When you leave me behind
You'll find that the years passed us by
When you get out of here
    When you leave me behind
You'll find that those years passed us by
    And I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
    Yes, I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow

The tragic part of this song is that the vocal lines harmonize perfectly, but never meet. And that's how you build a song with a story...

    One word: gorgeous!
I was so hooked on this song that when I put Watershed (2008) to play for the first time I just couldn't let the album go on, because I basically hit the replay to this song, I think, roughly five times in a row. At 1:50, when I heard Nathalie Lorichs' voice I was shocked: what a masterpiece. The progression of the song each time the riff "And I can see you
    (...)" appears (1:18; 1:33; 2:21; and 2:35) is epic.

I love that both vocal lines are perfectly harmonizing with each other, but are not in the same place so they can only be heard separately. I always think that its because of the lyrics and the whole style and concept of the album. Watershed for me is a concept album about separation.

    • @toprak3479
      @toprak3479 Před 2 lety +4

So it was easy for the die-hard fans to hate on the new drummer and guitarist. But man, axenrot was phenomenal on the kit along with Fredrik on the guitar. The first time I heard the guitar solo in heir apparent I was blown away. The whole album blends perfectly together and in my opinion, is their last great album. Anything after watershed I haven't enjoyed. I still love opeth though, their music forever changed my life.

    Free lyrics:
    She told me why
    She told me lies
I always take care of this
    I told her how
    I've always stayed
    Always waited for nothing
When I get out of here
    Will I leave you behind?
I found that the years passed despite
When I get out of here
    Will I leave you behind?
I found that the years passed despite
    And I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
    Yes I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
When you get out of here
    When you leave me behind
You find that the years passed us by
When you get out of here
    When you leave me behind
You find that those years passed us by
    And I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
    Yes I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow.

I know this is a relatively short track by Opeth's standards but its always been a massive favourite of mine , Mikaels vocal performance is so beautifuly poignant on this one , this dark track never fails to depress me , BEAUTIFUL!!🖤🖤

I remember years listening to this song unable to find anything that resonated that same way with what I was feeling.. I was lost in love but also unable to just be in it - wasting so many lives and falling to figure it out by listing to this and instead just giving up completely- it somehow make me feel that same way as Dog and the butterfly by Heart.. And for the same reasons

This song. Can't easily describe the feelings. Very, very strange opening with that creepy chords on the 12string guitar and then the 0:33 parts starts, sending chills down my spine.

    • @toprak3479
      @toprak3479 Před rokem

The opening section is a blend of so many disparate feelings, it's incredible. The first chord gives off uncertainty, anxiety but also nostalgia. The second one is gleeful reminiscence and makes me picture a sunny summer day with children playing around. And the following progression has a ridiculously autumnal feel. (almost all Opeth riffs do, but still)
