LYRICS
She told me, why
She told me lies
Always take care of this
I told her how
I've always stayed
Always waiting for nothing
When I get out of here
When I leave you behind
I'll find that the years passed us by
When I get out of here
When I leave you behind
I'll find that the years passed us by
And I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
Yes, I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
When you get out of here
When you leave me behind
You'll find that the years passed us by
When you get out of here
When you leave me behind
You'll find that those years passed us by
And I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
Yes, I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow - Hudba
The tragic part of this song is that the vocal lines harmonize perfectly, but never meet. And that's how you build a song with a story...
I did not notice, deep stuff
How is that tragic
man thats genious
@@hackinggamerxd because its supposed to mirror the relationship.
Well that’s a tragic comment..
Opeth make me think of autumn for some reason. They sound like autumn would sound, if it made a sound... Particularly hope leaves and harvest.
That is beautiful! Are you a poet?
Mallika Chauhan ...you know it, I did it again haha!
I'm not a poet no, you have just inspired me to become one though. Don't you get those autumn vibes? Even their band symbol has leaves on it..
I like your name, where are you from?
Guy Pearson Thank you! I did get those vibes :) Beautiful song...
Thank you for liking my name, I'm from India :) You support a lot of the football clubs so I am assuming you're English :)
Mallika Chauhan so do you still live in India? You're close! I'm from Ireland so just West of England a bit, we love football here too among other things.
Yea, I figured you where Indian because you have a Bindi in one of your photos. :p
So, how does an Indian girl get into metal? I bet there aren't many there who share your taste (:
Ooh, you spotted the bindi xD Yes, still in India. You got Roy Keane, so you gotta love football :P
I just love music but am not into sappy stuff! And don't get sucked into the tide of contemporary music or "popular" music all the time :)
So glad I got talking to you, Guy :)
the fact that this song ends too soon is a crime
opeth has ruined me because a 3 minute song is now way too short for me
@@holdenhurtuk7266hell yea bro if its not at least 11 min its short for me🙂

Thank you for the lyrics... Have a great life...
Man, do you feel those juicy bass riffs Martin Mendez is making? Amazing and very ominous feeling to the whole song.
Martin is the silent killer, without his basslines a lot of Opeth songs just wouldnt be the same.
Anakin, see You riding through the fields of Sauron.
+TheLopokis Genius.
+TheLopokis I can't breathe. Hahaha.
+TheLopokis Best comment in opeth song
+TheLopokis You win OP!
+TheLopokis rofl
Sometimes all you need is this music, low light and deep thoughts...
couldn't agree more
sometimes? always
hell yeah!
Low light, deep thoughts, rain outside and a shot of whiskey. That's what you need for this.
Rebeca Silva and psychadelics
This album never ages.
Might be their best. 👌
It never will age 🖤
This song has an underrated bass line. It's so cool.
I was just thinking the same thing! It’s so beautiful!
The drums are pretty fire too
The bass line at 1:12 mirrors the female vocals singing that same part. Cool stuff.
Martin is so subtle but his playing ties everything else together in such a amazing way
great comment!!!
This song encapsulates the sheer elegance and beauty this band is capable of creating
Hardly any other band can come up with this kind of variation and versatility.
edge of sanity
Tool
Rob A tool isn’t even fucking close. Same drop D distorted guitar shit over and over
That's not true. Dream Theater has the same beautiful gift.
@@BoyGeorge84 yesss and Anathema!
This is the first song I use to impress people with my home theater. It's flawless.
True taste. You did those people a lot more than demonstrate a good system, you gave them music they’ll take with them the rest of their lives.
do you crank it up and let the next song start?
Lol
Truly an awesome song. Her voice is beautiful. there's something kind of chilling when she sings "you found that the years passed us by". It's a weird feeling, like if depression and hope mixed.
that's basically every opeth song
+Desert Ranger 97 except mikael is a guy in every other song lol
Trenton Nickel true, but in every opeth song I get the feeling of unimaginable darkness and depression, but there's this sliver of light in it and there's this immense amount of hope and determination that I will prevail. Very beautiful that no matter how many bad things there are, there are good things to look forward to, and in the end, that's what we live for.
But when she says 'riding through the fields of sorrow' there is no more light. Imo always :)
anyone knows her name?
My wife succumbed to mental illness. It completely changed her. We were the best of friends. We were pronounced “the best couple ever” at our wedding. Two years ago she was diagnosed with conversion disorder. I watched her decline and watch her personality become dark. We are going through a divorce. I do t wish this pain on anyone. This song exactly describes my situation. Music has saved another
I know that feeling, mate. I lived thru this a few months ago and this song resonates so bad...
One word: gorgeous!
I was so hooked on this song that when I put Watershed (2008) to play for the first time I just couldn't let the album go on, because I basically hit the replay to this song, I think, roughly five times in a row. At 1:50, when I heard Nathalie Lorichs' voice I was shocked: what a masterpiece. The progression of the song each time the riff "And I can see you
(...)" appears (1:18; 1:33; 2:21; and 2:35) is epic.
Alot of 70's vibes coming from this
I love that both vocal lines are perfectly harmonizing with each other, but are not in the same place so they can only be heard separately. I always think that its because of the lyrics and the whole style and concept of the album. Watershed for me is a concept album about separation.
That might actually be the explanation as to why Mikael didn't go with the obvious songwriting route by harmonizing the vocals at the end. They never sing together. Huh. That's brilliant.
Love her voice
Her ??
The girl vocalist, Nathalie Lorichs i think
DannyStatuz Correct it is
Love her boyfriend.
:)
Good Lord this band is amazing
Welcome to the party that is Opeth in all their splendor.
amen
anyone else thinks that the part with " And I can see you running trough fields of sorrow" is incredible good associated with the scene from Gladiator when Maximus is returning home trough that grain field?
Now this is how you write a song...respect sir
Till the end of my life this is the only song i love to hear at mid night when the rain passes me by.
I want this song played for my funeral.
My husband and I danced to this as our first dance.
newfound love for duets. wish yall did more
I know opeth isn't from Poland but their music somehow fits so well with The Witcher when I play and listen
The osts are folk-ish in Witcher.. Both opeth and witcher 3 are European and the witcher kind of has the Scandinavian vibes.. so yeah
They're swedish, ofc they got European music vibes
@@superrookie-1 Europe's a big place.. I'd say they've got the northwestern European vibe since they are Swedish obviously.. But the music is quite different in the South and the eastern parts specially the Balkans.. But since they are musicians, they're familiar with music from all over the world so regional changes wouldn't surprise me
I kind of had similar feeling about opeth and the whole serie of game of thrones books.
Once i mentioned that i like opeth and someone reccomended other similar band - riverside, which is from Poland. Turned out to be one of my favourite
I was listening to this song months before my woman realized she doesn't want me anymore. I loved it then, and I love it now 😁
Love the duet, haunting but beautiful and honest as life is both beautiful and at times brutal
Brutiful
It touched my soul. From the first moment.
Opeth could totally do a song for a James Bond movie intro.
You're damn right, check out "By the Pain I see in Others", the progression which starts at 3:33, mainly the last riff.
Except James Bond movies only feature British artists, if I am not mistaken.
@@kirstenbakker839 nope
@@kirstenbakker839 Billie Eilish
@@kirstenbakker839 Carly Simon, Nancy Sinatra, a-Ha, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner etc etc - Opeth could easily do a Bond theme.
I feel so enlightened by this song.
My favorite Opeth album. It combines the best parts of old Opeth and new Opeth. I wish they would make another album like Watrershed.
That would be awesome.
Take the part where the female vocalist sings and play it together with Mikael's part. You won't be disappointed.
I did this! It was actually damn good!
How the fuck we can do that
@@mustafajuventino9964 Pc brother.
Or just sing Mikael’s part with her.
you destroy me just now
One of the most beautiful songs I know
this song capture the bottom most point of male sadness perfectly...
Perfectly stated
You nailed it, bro🎉
The melody and the guitars are beautiful.
love this
Still my second favorite song by them. First being Windowpane.
Wonderful guitar work on this album, as always with Opeth.
Old Tristram Diablo 3
Yessss the guitar sound just like it
Or tristram in d1 or d2 :)
Tristram in D2!
instantly thought of diablo 2 soundtrack vibes yesss
What a beautiful song
This is the best album that I have ever heard! I am listening it since from release from time to time and it always gets me chills! Thank you Opeth for this beautiful music!
Beautiful
amazing track
Opeth's latest album Heritage is available now on Roadrunner Records.
Opeth.....you did it again.....make something so beautiful.
Opeth is one of my favorite bands. Really great and experimental sound... it sounds beautiful!🙂
beautiful
Lovely voices and Chorus
I love this song, and love the Watershed
God damn this is beautiful
So beautiful song...
I love her so much. I hope she wakes up
I'm actually crying
Beautiful song, never heard it before
Love so much
Just noticed it has that one chord which is used all the time in Call of Ktulu
Minor add9?
Great song.
A lot of fans hated on this album when it first came out, but I loved it. I think it wasn't well liked because martin and peter left. So it was easy for the die-hard fans to hate on the new drummer and guitarist. But man, axenrot was phenomenal on the kit along with Fredrik on the guitar. The first time I heard the guitar solo in heir apparent I was blown away. The whole album blends perfectly together and in my opinion, is their last great album. Anything after watershed I haven't enjoyed. I still love opeth though, their music forever changed my life.
Also I used to play this album on my computer in the background as I played World Of Warcraft. And let me tell you it just made sense, the music went perfectly with the gameplay. 😂
12 string in perfect tune setting the mood....good stuff
And I can see you running through the fields of sorrow...
oi moça, acho que te conheço
@@WilliamHupsel Hahahaha inesperado.
My Gf and I have, in the end, broke up after nearly ten years. Things were not doing very well in the past year. As of now, I feel so much better being single and on my own. I feel like I do not have any restrictions or a tingling freight inside of me that might upset her for any decisiona made without consulting her. I feel much better. And I think I can relate to this song so much in this minute.
Nobody needs toxic controling bithces amirite
6 years ago. still hurts.
I think that they have a great understanding of writing mot only songs but now albums. They have grown. Michael has taken a step back and let the nand evolve
Running through the fields of Zorro...
Lol, epic
Perfect
Fucking tears man.
Love how the guitar opens up and runs through all the strings at 1:21. It's like the song takes its emotional constraints off and pours its (metaphorical) heart out into your ears.
fighting with love listening to opeth
I feel this song at summer end sunset ❤
i love the way she says here...
Sweet song, I wouldn't mind this played at my funeral.
Female vocalist is the girlfriend of the drummer.
“No thanks lady, we're all gay here”

Best Song of this album :) !!
Essa música acaba comigoooo! 😭
The last of the Opeth albums that had "It" the special sound and true feel these last 2 albums have missed.
Open the song in 2 windows. Forward one to 1:50, just before Natalie Lochrichs starts singing and then pause. Start the song in window 1 and when Mikael starts singing just before 0:47, resume song from first window. If you get the timing right, you will receive sweet 2 voice goosebumps. Captain flies away...
MariaHelgaSchneider how did you figure that out? Can't do it on my phone but it sounds genius.
It took some effort but holy shit it sounds great.
Lo tengo a este cd .siempre que puedo lo oigo.muy bueno.
Es brutal Bro!
Though it's not as heavy as some of the other tracks on this album which I love, this song always stood out to me
listening to full album. Good so far my favorite is the lotus eater
Damn why couldn't this song be 9 minutes long
Her voice sounds like Anneke van Giersbergen from The Gathering, beautiful voice
Kinda..anne sings for devin townsend project sometimes and sounds awesome
It indeed does!

I know this is a relatively short track by Opeth's standards but its always been a massive favourite of mine , Mikaels vocal performance is so beautifuly poignant on this one , this dark track never fails to depress me , BEAUTIFUL!!🖤🖤
Starts with the same chord as Genesis - Suppers Ready 🤙
Mikael loves genesis, he literally called a song "for absent friends"
Lothar Mallea Definitely. i think he named Harlequin foest after them too
Put her in more future songs!
prodigy = Opeth
I remember years listening to this song unable to find anything that resonated that same way with what I was feeling.. I was lost in love but also unable to just be in it - wasting so many lives and falling to figure it out by listing to this and instead just giving up completely- it somehow make me feel that same way as Dog and the butterfly by Heart.. And for the same reasons
Omg dude..! I know you!
I feel like I keep finding myself wanting to end myself- 2 years ago when I made the original comment I truly thought I was going to be with my Nina and be happy with her forever...
But here’s the fuck I am, once again running through those fields
I’m going through it now. It’s horrible.
magical
This song. Can't easily describe the feelings. Very, very strange opening with that creepy chords on the 12string guitar and then the 0:33 parts starts, sending chills down my spine.
The opening section is a blend of so many disparate feelings, it's incredible. The first chord gives off uncertainty, anxiety but also nostalgia. The second one is gleeful reminiscence and makes me picture a sunny summer day with children playing around. And the following progression has a ridiculously autumnal feel. (almost all Opeth riffs do, but still)
Essa música resume muito bem uma separação, divórcio e o sentimento de solidão com a partida de alguém...
