She is large, and in charge and floats down the road.

You've got a gem, an experience the younger generation will never understand or appreciate. Beautiful piece of history, Thanks for sharing
So very true. Thankfully I much appreciate older cars and try my hardest to educate and keep them alive.
One of my favorite land yachts and in a great color
It is such a brilliant car
FYI, they're called opera windows, not portholes, and they're for style, the passengers' convenience and comfort. It's amazing how people drove these cars with such ease, I learned to drive in my father's 1975 Ford LTD.
Yeah I have no idea why I called them Portholes in this video as I always call them opera windows. O well. It really is amazing, but other than its the size of the titanic it is very easy to drive.
@@CarysGarage heck yeah, even women drove those behemoth station wagons with a dozen screaming kids in the back! Just 4 people riding in that Lincoln is social distancing!
Keep up the great videos Gary!
I wish cars were still as colorful as they used to be. Now all interiors are grey, black, white, or beige.
I absolutely agree. I understand its not cost effective these days but its such a shame.
I had a triple black 1978 Lincoln continental Town car edition. My aunt gave to me. My absolute favorite car. They called it the Canadian vehicle. They only drove when driving to Canada from Massachusetts back in the late 1970s to see my uncle's family or when they drove to Florida. They bought it brand new just for those road trips. Other than that it was covered in their garage. When she gave it to me in 1993 it only had 28 thousand miles on it and still drive like new. Miss that car. It was show room condition inside & out and everything worked. I was the man back then 18 years old who owned a Lincoln 🤣 my door ashtray doors did the same thing. The springs are gone so they stayed open. I put super glue on both corners of each of them put painters tape on them so they can dry closed next day peeling the tape off problem solved. Painters tape won't leave a mark easy to peel off without out undoing it. Beautiful car hope you still have it
Very good car. The trunk can hold two bodies or one big Mexican with the deck lid closed! And it has lots of gun storage places inside!
Had exactly the same car, green inside and out -- except that the upholstery in mine was army-blanket wool. Used it as a commuter, and never, ever had problems with people brake-checking me, cutting in front, tailgating, or passing too closely. The car's sheer bulk was its major advantage. I called her the Green Queen, and she'll live long in memory.
Oh wow neat. Nowadays it seems people aren't as worried about the sure mass of this thing. I've been cut off a few times, and its not fun.
In high school I had a yellow one. It leaked nearly everywhere, but was a dream to drive and I still have fond memories.
They are amazing to drive. Just drive from gas station to gas station
I have one that's 2 years newer than this one; a 1977 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe. The Town Coupes are incredibly rare and I've wanted one forever. Mine has a fair amount of rust on it but I do plan on doing a full frame-off rotisserie better-than-new restoration to it. It's my baby!
Town coupes are really interesting cars. Best of luck with the Restoration!
@@CarysGarage I love it! Rides and feels just as nice as the 4 door version but just with 2 gigantic doors instead of 4 smaller ones. I love vintage luxury cars like these! Nothing feels like an old Cadillac or an old Lincoln. Smoothest riding cars I’ve ever driven!
Thank you for showing off that beautiful Lincoln. My parents owned a 1975 Lincoln Continental (not the Town Car), it didn't have the vent windows nor the opera lamps. My mother didn't want leather interior. So we didn't sink into those plush leather seats. That car rode like a dream. They traded it in just before my 15th birthday in 1979. Doesn't mean I didn't drive it on the back country roads. There was a 400 under the hood. I think that car got about 12 mpg.
Thank you for sharing this video of your car. I've had one - a '78 -- and looked after two of these when they were new for my grandparents. A tip for your mini-vent windows: Ford used to make mini-vent lubricant that is placed in the molding channel which is attached to the vent glass to help it slide up and down. Hard to find, but you can use silicone lubricant for that task. It's a good idea to keep them lubricated, as if they start binding, the molding will become detached and you'll have a nice little problem on your hands. I bought a '73 Marquis Brougham a few years ago and the prior owner didn't know this trick! Luckily I was able to find NOS glass, but that's got to be hard to find these days.
Thanks for watching! How very interesting and thank you for the advice, I will definitely do that!
I know exactly what you mean about that jade green everywhere. Back in those days I had a Thunderbird in the exact same color and I loved it! Have fun with Miss Vida!!!
Oh yeah its just wild. Thanks! I definitely do, its such a pleasure to drive!
Hope the paint comes back as best as possible. . The auto parking brake release has a small manual handle next to the park pedal, also vacuum assisted and
Its part of a connivance pkg in 73 with the visor mirror, trunk release, auto seat release on 2 doors and left and right remote side mirrors. The smokers windows are called
"power mini vent" first in '73 . Both options were for the LTD brougham, Marquis brougham, Continental Town car and Mark IV.
How interesting. thanks for the info! Love knowing detailed info like that!
Had a 1975 Continental Town Coupe' back in the day. Exactly like this - all jade green. In 1975 Lincoln really make a major push to overcome "the other luxury car" in terms of styling, interior, and luxury appointments. DETAILS. 1975 was the most luxurious they ever offered in the 1970's. (Unfortunately due to either costs or "resting on their laurels" as the years went on things were either removed or parts sourced from the generic Ford parts bin) Details are important on a luxury car. Oh...and MPG. I got 7.3 as an average. Took it back to the dealership and they put it on the diagnostics - yes up to specs for a 1975 460....then again I never wasted any time going someplace. LOL Great review. Brought back a lot of good memories. The 1975 TC was to this day the most luxurious car I ever had - and that includes the MK IV I had before it and the MK V I had after it..
Nice! Its funny since I have several other Luxury vehicles of different generations and of different countries and the Lincoln just did differently. I just love this car! And I average around 8 mpg myself.
EXCELLENT and very rare color scheme... and even more rare because of the leather interior!
It's magnificent.
Thank you!
You can bring that paint back with an electric orbital buffer and some Meguiars cutting compound. I bought my buffer, pads and compound at Harbor Freight and they work GREAT! I love your car!
I am planning on using a lite cutting compound and seeing what all I can do to the paint. I'll make an episode of it.
@@CarysGarage Looking forward to watching it!
Over the years I have had many Towne Cars. My wife worked at Ford Engineering in Dearborn. We got the employee discount. Great cars and a great color on yours. The Towne Cars never die!
How cool is that and thanks!
Very nice car .I owned 1 1976 looked like your beautiful 1975. For your low fuel warning, there is a low fuel " relay box behind the old owners placket. Take the glove box out and look up, comes out with 2 nuts. Lube the lock gears in the door panel, another of times with lack of usage and age the rubber boots get caught in the gear the rod. 1978 and1979 have different lock motor. Good luck and enjoy. I am glad to see another young person enjoying . I also have a 1979 Collector Serior towncar and love it.
Thank you so much for the information!!!!
I think that little mirror extra mirror wasn't for just looking at your face I think it was for powdering your nose lol it was the 70s
True. Still its a very cool touch that I love.
@@CarysGarage that mirror was part of the Town Car option package.
I thought it was for ladies to fix the back of their hair -- takes two mirrors.
These were a common amenity in old luxury cars, even after the passing of the fitted drinks cabinet.
Lincolns since the Sixties always had a hand mirror in the glove compartment.
I generally dont like 4 door cars, but this is one I love. My friends mom had a maroon colored one and I liked riding in it. I remember that greenish glow of the dashboard lights, I thought it was really cool.
Yeah the green glow of the dash is just great.
@@CarysGarage I'm 53 and the last time I rode in that car was in the late 70s. That glowing dash is all I really remember, so it definitely made an impression on me. I'm so glad you showed it in your video. Reminds me of my youth, lol.
@@wadeguidry6675 How cool!
They did make a 2-door. About the same size as this beast, but with two super long doors instead of four. When I had my yellow 75 Continental (in the late 80s) I once pulled into a gas station next to a lady driving a Coupe in the exact same yellow. We did a thorough mutual admiration tour of our respective yachts while filling up.
I've owned a few of these. The most notorious issue is the power seat switch shorting out and catching fire. Be sure to check all the wiring and that there isn't resistance building up on the power passenger seat. Great car. Great color.
Thanks! I have definitely heard about that and am keeping my eye on it for sure!
@@CarysGarage If your good with electronics, you can always rewire it so that it doesn't constantly get current, like the radio or wipers, the switch will only work with ignition on.
@@jtralongo1definitely a great idea, I will have to look into that. I don't leave it parked with the battery connected since I have a draw I am still working on sorting out.
@@CarysGarage Believe it or not, that digital clock can draw down a weak battery in just a few days. Other places to look is the rear door lighters (sometimes they are pushed down just enough to set off current flow).
@@jtralongo1 doing many test on it the only thing I can find is the Digital clock is pulling a little bit and thats the only thing that is drawing. no lighters.
My gawd you are one handsome dude. And FYI, those oval windows back in the day were called "opera windows". Nice vid. Edited because previous poster already called you out on that opera window thing. Sorry
Thanks! Yeah idk why I called them portholes. Sometimes when I film I get a bit scatter brained.
@@CarysGarage It's all good. My grandma had a 76 in a dark red with velour seats when she bought it in late 1975. New cars back then came out in previous year in the Fall. Brought back memories. Again, nice vid. Take care
You have a rare find there! I LOVE that age and model of Lincoln, and have owned several that I bought off sand lots in Florida with dreams of restoration. They were mostly electrical and mechanical disasters, though. It's wonderful to see one in such great shape and with some marvelous potential!
That is why I had to have it. It is nice enough to enjoy and needs just enough work that I don't feel bad about putting miles on it.
Hi, Cary! Marissa Balidoy here. Learned a lot from your awesome video!
Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it!
@@CarysGarage Really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Nice ride. My first car was a 1970 Mercury Monterey. Same green color. 390 engine but not loaded up with all the power options like your continental. Enjoy your find and have fun with it!
Very cool!! I for sure will. I enjoy it very much.
They are not port hole windows, they are called opera windows.
Very true, I always call them opera windows but here I called them port hole windows. Not sure why I did that.
I really like the green all over, especially the gauges at night. I looked at a green Lincoln like this back in 76 awesome colors, good luck with your ride, never give that up, never. Be Safe.
Thanks. I plan to hold onto this one for a long time.
There was one of these, exactly this car in a scrapyard in Philadelphia about two years ago. I really wanted it, but had no place to put it.
I hope someone saved it.
Definitely a nice car, sure hope to find a big car like that that will just float down the road!
It is 100% worth it!!
The North Korean regime has one of these '74-75 cars. I saw footage of the funeral cortege when the last guy shuffled his coil, and this car was in it. I think it's a black one, or a dark color. Communist rulers have always seemed to favour American luxury cars. Having recently seen the clip of his funeral, it is a black longer limousine. Did Lincoln still make a factory limo in the mid '70s? It was not a 1980s prom limo length but longer than the "Normal" length of these cars at the high tide of American car size. Saw the clip again, it is a black limousine, a smidge longer than the usual 74-5s, not a prom nite stretch.
How interesting. Yeah they definitely do especially when you compare them to what they would have from over there. Don't get me wrong I want a commie car really bad!! But hey the American luxury barges were next level.
I think NoKo has some 70s era Volvo 200s in their fleet too. If I remember correctly they ordered them from Volvo, took delivery of them, then never paid for them.
Hey man! Awesome review of one classic big ol' green gal right there. Miss Vida is certainly calling some shots, kid. When you went over those railroad tracks I had a feeling it was eerily like what the gangsters experienced as they drove over dead rivals in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn back in the day lol ;). And your floppy skater sneaks and tubesocks? Awesome! Just like mine, little bro :). Keep up the great reviews, JV Johnny
Thanks, I really appreciate it! Hey the shoes are comfy. lol
Absolutely beautiful, love it
Thank you!
Congratulations on owning an estate on wheels. The opera windows were such a signature look for Continental from the 1970’s - 1983. My Mark VI was the last series to feature the opera window. I really enjoyed watching your review of this gigantic land yacht. My garage is not so big so owning a baby Lincoln fits perfectly. Please keep up the great content, it’s inspiring me to get out there and record newer videos of my classic. Spring is practically here now. Enjoy your classic!
Thanks. It is such a wonderful car and I enjoy owning it. I tell people that I didn't buy a car rather I bought a zip code. Overall its hard to get a ride like that, only other car I have that comes close is my Bentley but thats totally different story. Also thanks for the kind words about my content! I've been trying to keep up the content flow and projects. I have plenty to keep me busy and make videos on.
@@CarysGarage definitely a conversation piece everywhere you go; car wash, stop signs, traffic lights, gas station, grocery store and virtually anywhere you park. you gotta be a real people person to own all that metal.
@@xrmerkur ain't that the truth. After owning Citroëns and other odd cars I've become rather use to it. I wonder sometimes what people think when they see a young guy driving a car like this. Im sure the thought that I borrowed it from my grandmother comes into play lol
@@CarysGarage haha! they will eventually realize you’re preserving American History. If anything where ever there thoughts wonder respect is the end result.
The 70s were great times for couches on wheels.....those seats weren't just for driving and riding...haha......its a time and era gone.....only a hand full of 8 tracks......these cars and some old friends can bring them back.....nothing like the ride of a old school 70s luxury barge
never knew about the glovebox mirror, and i pride myself on arcane and useless car trivia lol...thats the kinda thing that normally would disappear over the years. yea man that is a LOT of green inside...but looks to be in great shape. how could you not have a good time driving that thing around...glad it survived and that you are keeping it going
I am the same way. I love odd useless info and I had no idea that mirror was a thing. When I found it in the glovebox I was pretty amazed! And thanks, I really enjoy driving it around. Its going to be nice when I get it looking better!
I remember these coming out and my father wanting one. He bought an Olds Toronado because it was a little bit cooler, less a 'dad' car, but he loved these. So big. Just so very big.
Oh wow. Hey a Toronado would be pretty cool too.
Jeezus, I remember looking at a Continental just like this way back in 1995 in Laramie Wy, green on green and all, on a used car lot for $300. Gawd I miss cheap these cars used to be.
Yeah the times of cheap cheap boats are pretty much no more unfortunately.
Had a '74 back in early 80's great car never failed to start even on the coldest day here in Ohio as long as you could put gas in it you were in for a great ride.
Nice! Yeah keeping gas in it can be a pain for sure.
And run premium only premium unleaded
I had one. 10 gas stations per mile. Smoothest ride ever.
Nice vid. I had a ‘77 Continental 4-door very similar but with the newer grille and no opera windows. Replace your door strikers, the plastic sleeves are broken off of them causing the loud “click-clack” when the doors open. Also, there should be a short metal lever up under the dash next to the parking brake that releases it without using the vacuum assist. My 77 had one. Cheers
I have ordered a new door striker for both front doors. The drivers one is missing the entire plastic sleeve. Thankfully they were super cheap. Yeah there is a little lever next to the parking brake pedal to release it, but thankfully the vacuum release still works.
@@CarysGarage good to hear.
love your videos, and above all your knowledge!
cheers 👍 🍻 👏 ✌️ 🥂 👍 🍻
Thank you!!!
Ah yes, of all the American automaker Land Yachts being made during that time the Lincoln's were one of my fav's, up there with Cadillac!!!
Oh yes they are brilliant. Cadillac is next on my list of vehicles I want.
Always loved these triple green sedans.
05:58 An easy fix on the ashtray is to disconnect the spring, and it won't open unless you do it manually. The little plastic thing, which holds it down, is hard to come by.
06:38 If you want to protect this trim, don't turn the wheel with a flat hand.
Thanks for the advice!
Beautiful Continental!
Thank you!
Sir I can see you are extremely obsessed about the size and just about everything else on your vehicle you purchased. Great that you want to fix it up! I can recall these types of luxury cars on the road brand new! We enjoyed them as much as your generation enjoys todays SUVS. Miss those hide away headlights and rolls-royce inspired grill.
enjoyed the video, well done. I have LTC 2000....LUV it...
Thanks
This was my favorite Lincoln ever, in my favorite green ever! Bring ‘er back to original glory!!
To javahedz from Nygel Miller, Yes, I do love the colour, and it's nice that cars match inside sometimes - it's just too strong a SHADE of green for outside, AND inside! And that roof lining is such a strong shade, that is just no respite! I would rather tell someone where all the diamonds are hidden, than be made to travel in that car - even if it IS a Lincoln! (Perhaps this a SHADE of"Lincoln Green" ?
@@nygelmiller5293 LOL!! 😜
I for sure will. I plan to get it repainted so it will look sharp.
I love that Green! beautiful car
Thanks. As do we. It's such a great car
And Lincoln kept its girth until after 1979! I commend them for that!
Oh indeed. Me to!
My parents had a 1974 Lincoln Continental Town Car. The cars were similar. Glad your model still had the ribbon speedometer. Ours had a lighted mirror on the passenger side sun visor. I can't remember if the drivers side had a lighted mirror. Ours had a little bit different dash board. Our clock was a dial clock the same size as the other instruments. I don't think ours had the automatic parking brake release. The horn control was inside of the steering wheel. I took my drivers license test in that car. I accidently squeezed the steering wheel too tight and the horn wheel went off in the middle of my driving test. I told the instructor I forgot the horn control was in the steering of this car and he went ahead and passed me.
The Ribbon speedo is one of my favorite aspects of the car! Thats funny about the horn! Did you have to parallel park that thing??
@@CarysGarage I had to do up hill and down hill parking. That is why I don't remember the parking brake being different. Although I have always had a bad habit of forgetting to release my parking brake when I use it. No parallel parking in1985 for the test. Yeah the driver's ed car was a Dodge Caravan. We had a big snow storm during the last part of driver ed. We covered parallel parking and changing tires in the class room.

It's like a living room on wheels; get mini chandelier's in the backseat like Snoop Dogg.
Those side LED's are DOPE!
POWER SMOKING WINDOW!?!?!?! dead
It is more comfy than my actual living room. Damn the seats are good.
Well gotta have the power smoking window so you don't have to open the entire thing. Lol.
I saw one just like that one same year and color in Daytona Beach Fl 👍

Our family had a 1976 Lincoln Towncar; however, I cannot remember the differene(s) between a 1975 and a 1976. We drove from Evansville, Indiana to Los Angeles in our Town Car, and we were not at all fatigued.
How cool. I can imagine it was a great comfortable ride. I can't wait to take this one on a road trip
What was/were the difference(s) of the 1975 and the 1976?
Another project that needs doing is the door latch striker bushings so the doors close properly..
Yep. Thats on the list to get done

Yeah empty parking lots tend to attract such things around here.
Your Lincoln Continental Town Car is equipped with the Jade Luxury Group trim option.
Very cool. Good to know!
Man that exterior has patina. Interior is beautiful
Indeed I was surprised by that myself. The interior is what sold me on the car. I would rather freshen up paint and body stuff than do interior refresh. The southwest is less than kind to paint work but in due time ill make it pretty again. For now its a fantastic driver that I can enjoy.
Great car. I have the blue version.
Oh Fantastic!
I was waiting for the body reference . . . :)
Lol
I guarantee you there is roof rust aplenty underneath the vinyl top.
From what I can tell the metal is solid underneath the top. So if there is any its hopefully minimal. But well see when I get the top off.
Reminds me of Media Player visualisation of sound where it describes itself as, "Green is not your enemy"
Lol
Smoking windows, YES PLEASE! What's behind the wall in the trunk? I like ur style, u should ask random ppl with cool cars to review them.
That is what I am starting to do! I've been talking to different people about reviewing there vehicles, and I am going to start doing driving reviews with a Gopro stuck to the passenger window as I drive.
I’ve got one FOR SALE @ 8.5k underbody coating, original bumper to bumper, “ custom “ green paint, 8-track works, road ready, only driven in sunny weather meaning no snow or rain use. You know Tokyo or Hankook sells a white wall tire that will fit that big Lincoln Town Car that can take the wait in a white wall and it would look much nicer than black walls on that Lincoln. They're not made for blackwalls that's for sure?
I totally agree. I have a friend at a tire shop in town that is going to help me get a set of nice white walls that are made for these older heavy cars. Im looking forward to getting a set for it!
@@CarysGarage look for tires with a load range maximum. You don't want the standard load range you want the maximum load range those are kind of tricky to find in a white wall anymore? Like I said a Hankook and Toyo Tires in a white wall in a P 235 75 R15 I'm pretty sure that's what you're takes?

I had a 79 Lincoln Town car just like this but it was a 79 and it was a gold color I miss it had a little dent up in the front but I still drove it that thing drove everywhere it cost me about what 300 and some dollars that was back in the old days from you can get $100 a car in the last year and then you go buy another one anyway they'll know nothing about that nowadays them hundred dollar cars or $1,000 cars now but anyway bring back memory Lane
White walls all around please
That is in the works.
That is one of the most ghastly and vulgar beasts I have ever seen in my life! I'll bet it's not as fuel efficient as my Camry? Lol Not saying that it would fix the pain issues but I have been able to make some pretty tired and faded looking paint With good old fashioned nu Finnish car Polish In the Orange bottle. If you can find the paste in the can that's even better but pretty hard to find of late. I have used it the entire life of my 21 year old Camry Which has spent its life park in the direct South Florida Sun in still shines and is as glossy as when she was brand new. I can't wait to see the update videos on that big barge And I totally agree that that is an awesome color Both inside and out.
Thanks and good to know. Yeah best fuel mileage so far is 9.2mpg. But hey its great to drive.
I had one, a 1977. 10 gas stations per mile was the average fuel economy.
@@Dallas_K I had a 77 and a 79 and never bothered with miles per gallon, just miles per gas tank full which was about 200.
Mine had the rim blow any place you touch around the steering wheel what operate the horn. And if you if you flip the turn signal out the steering wheel would become telescopic. The one thing I hated the most was the covers over the headlights you would wash the car during the day and forget to clean the headlights. I love the climate control on it. It also had one other feature I just have to think about that the petals would move back and forth does anyone else remember that it had a buzzer on the seat if you didn't fasten the seat belt it would Buzz as long as you sitting in it
How cool. I've known a couple of people with Rim blow steering wheels, really cool but a real pain to fix when it breaks.
@@CarysGarage so true mine broke one time and every time you hit a bump the horn went off.
@@berylwhite2983 well that would get annoying fairly quick
It's not a town car, it's a city block car. The paint is in ok shape, huh?
Definitely. The paint is so so
that care needed a warning light for wind shear.
One thing I wish they'd do now that they're tripping over themselves to electrify cars is bring back the old body styles. Me I'd want one of those only electric. Or a 1950 Cadillac. Imagine all the comforts but electrified. Wouldn't it be awesome.
That would be very interesting for sure!
@@CarysGarage yeah it would. I wonder how much it'd cost to build them again.
Came across your comment Sir, the auto market in this country would shut down. Couldn't keep up with demand because you are not alone in your profound idea.
It can also tow ten thousand pounds
Funny thing is that i'm sure this car could tow better than my Suburban.
