How to Install a ceiling vent when it doesn't stay on

- Have you had the problem of a vent hanging from the ceiling because there is nothing to screw the vent to except the drywall? Drywall is not enough to hold the register cover!
I always wonder if I won't find what I'm looking for on CZcams and I was sure, this was it. And again, CZcams proves me wrong. THANK YOU for taking the time to share your knowledge. I have this same issue and now I can fix it MYSELF. 🙏🏾💜🙏🏾

I know this is a little excessive but could you go in attic and install some wood blocking around the register connecting to the attic joists ,then your screw will have something to actually go into in the ceiling

Why not just use a drywall anchor with screw instead of the folded aluminum?
That's definitely easier if the hole is not too close to the edge of drywall but in my case that wasn't an option. Thanks for mentioning it. That could work for some people.

If you have a sheet metal screw you don't need to pre drill the hole. It has a sharp tip and will make the hole while you drive it in.

I bought one and OMG! Every woman should have one if they dont have a guy to fix things.
Not a good fix when you don’t have a week to make all this stuff. Anyone else know a product you can buy and do this?!
One could try gluing a piece of wood with the right thickness to use for the screw on the side that the aluminum was used on. I like the aluminum idea, too.
