    Robert, Thanks for this. One of the most annoying things about Deere is their purposeful lack of documentation online: nothing they sell comes with an online manual, so you can't research or evaluate prior to purchasing. It's part of their commitment to deny right to repair. And, yeah, I'm taking off the entire chute cover. I have some real tight squeezes to get through, thus the need for this addition.

      Glad to hear it it was helpful. I have noticed that too about JD products, it's hard finding relevant info about their accessories from their own site, you have to look elsewhere for any useful information.
      Yea, for awhile there I was debating taking it off or leaving that cover on. I ended up just leaving it on, solely because I know if I removed it, I would eventually lose it.

    helpful and to the point. didn't waste any time and the answer/solution was presently clearly and concisely.

    At about the 1:20 to 1:45 point in the video it shows the best way to attach the rear bungee cord clip to the deck so it won't dig into the paint. However, you have to twist the bungee cord to make that attachment. Essentially, John Deere has the clip on backwards from the factory.
    The absolute BEST method is to remove the metal clip from the end of the bungee (easily done) and reinstall it through the opposite side of the bungee hole. This way you have the optimal clip angle without the twist in the cord. It's similar to reversing a key on a keychain ring.
    That insight wouldn't have occurred to me without Robert's suggestion.

    Great video ,,,Thank you sir ............The left hook you can twist the strap like he did or take that clip off turn it and put it back on the strap ...Another tip that some people do is drill 2 or 3 hole about inch off the bottom and run heavy duty zip ties around the cover and botton metal rail ..keeps cover secure.
    On mine i actually removed the old plastic chute and left it off ( two bolts) it made my tractor more narrow , and in my yard narrow is good in places ...

    On a separate note, how do you guys wash your machines? Can you take out the hose and spray it down, avoiding the electrical components? Thoughts?

      You can use the water hose to wash your bike, but no high-pressure water. High pressure water can be bad depending on where you spray. I use a spray can/bottle cleaner made for motorcycles to spray my bike down, let it sit, and then wipe it down. I'm currently in Vietnam, so I can't go look at the brand name I use.

    So do these models mulch by simply adding that cover? No need to change out the original cutting blades (i.e. "mulching blades")? Thanks...

    • @R-TechEnthusiast
      @R-TechEnthusiast  Před rokem

      The stock blades were 3-in-1 blades: cutting, mulching and bagging blades. So if you're using the original blades, then all you need is the cover. If you're using after market blades, you need to make sure they are mulching blades.

      Sorry, I can't look right now. I let my dad borrow my riding lawn mower until his gets fixed. I can look when he brings it back, but I'm not sure when that will be. When I get it back though, I'll let you know.

    Did you install mulching blades? Thanks

    • @R-TechEnthusiast
      @R-TechEnthusiast  Před 4 lety +4

      No, I was told that I didn't need to buy mulching blades and that the ones that came on this mower were... I'm probably calling it wrong, but they are supposedly all in one type blades. So they will mulch the grass with the cover on it.

      @martinbaca9901-Yes remove key! I also like to take out the battery, usually I remove the spark plug, block up all four wheels and drain out all the gas and oil just so nothing happens that could hurt me...Safety first....
