Ceratosaurus is known for having the longest teeth of any dinosaur(relative to its size) so the size of the teeth is pretty good, but the thickness and rounded tips make them look worse than they should. But, while your teeth are too short, the repaint itself looks great. You'd think that for a more collector oriented line, they would give us sharper claws and teeth, and more complex paint.
I mean, it doesn't technically "shorten" the teeth any, just covers them with its lips a bit more so they aren't just hanging out, which seems more realistic in my opinion.
Ceratosaurus along with other dinosaurs had lips, they're teeth wernt exposed like that. Lips don't fossilize either, so there's no evidence, but it's the most believed considering animals that have large Fangs like the clouded leapored, it has two large Fangs, you would think they'd be exposed like a sabaor tooth, but they're covered by lips, which amazes me. So it would of most likly been the same for large theropods.
This is much better with the extra details perfected and the extra paint. I really think The Hammond collection should step up their game when it comes to the details, paint and body proportions. The line itself is still pretty good when it comes to articulation and the sculpting.
Yeah the t rex has some awful detail. It has extremely smooth and soft detail not crisp. It makes it harder to do a screen accurate repaint. Except for the head its perfect.
@@Nightwingsrandom including the fact that this is made for 8+ it’s reasonable for the paint to be simple and not super detailed, also it’s actually 20 dollars, so it’s a good reason not to make it more detailed
@@aryanparri but it's a collectors item, a neca Godzilla figure while bad has a bunch of good detail throughout the body and their about the same price as this figure. They really have no excuse on why they can't sculpt more details, hell even mainline figures that are made for kids have more sculpted detail.
Ceratosaurus genuinely had massive teeth like the figure has, so they actually don’t bother me in that regard. But the figure itself does need a solid wash in order to really make those details pop out.
Yeah, those teeth were definitely giving it a weird look. Ceratosaurus's jaws are like that in the films and games, but the teeth are nowhere near as pronounced. If I was a designer at Mattel, I'd have brought those back just a little bit. Maybe make them more in line with Evolution's Ceratosaurus model.
This is an amazing paint job, Jurassic Compound! This is one of my favourite repaint videos! Also I have two repaint requests if possible.. 1. Could you repaint the Hammond Collection Triceratops figure to look like Theo the Triceratops from Prehistoric Park mostly because of the amazing colours on the frill (Not sure if you've seen the show or not?) 2. Could you repaint one of the Jurassic World Dominion Dimetrodon figures to look like the Walking with Monsters Dimetrodon as it has such amazing colours and would love to see that on a Jurassic World Dominion figure. If you could do these that would fantastic.. have a nice day ;)
What a fantastic repaint video and the finished Ceratosaurus looks seriously awesome. Really inspiring. Ceratosaurus is one of my favourite therapod dinos and I’ve been planning to try one as my first ever repaint. Unfortunately I can’t currently get the Hammond Collection figure in the UK (September 2023), so I bought a couple of second-hand Camp Cretaceous Dino Escape Roar Attack Ceratosaurus figures instead. One of these should be a good practice subject. I need to watch the video a few more times to note down all the paint choices. I loved the section of video on the teeth. Many of the Mattel figures have excessively exaggerated teeth, so I’ve also been thinking about how to correct that. I had considered sharpening individual teeth with a scalpel but it sounds like that’s pretty challenging to do well. Your fix looks great.
Looks pretty good! One thing is that I think the wash is a bit too dark in the light tan areas but still an improvement from before. Def gonna do that. I was not a fan of the gaps in the brown stripes on this figure and lack of lip stripes, that was a poor job on Mattel's part.
This is such an awesome video!! I freaking love this repaint!! You knocked the ball out the park with this cerato! Great job! I do have a question about what you do to seal the figures and avoid paint chipping? I always loose paint on the rubber tails ):
Try a vallejo matte varnish or any company's varnish but make sure you mix the varnish with water before applying otherwise it's going to become extremely sticky when it dries.
U never disappoint bro. This is alot more movie accurate for sure after your modifications. Also I think u should have left the teeth alone or shaved them down just a little bit instead of removing them completely.
It would be amazing if you were to modify the T. rex to look like the one from prehistoric planet! Or maybe do a similar pattern as the Rex, even a raptor or something small would be amazing!
I do agree the teeth are pretty goofy and does kind of ruins the figure but I still love it This video was so amazing, hope to see more of it and yall a good day
U are really the best at making these figures way more better I really love this one and the T. rex modification what a beauty really wish they did it just like this and be able to get a version of this. I will really and gonna try to do this as well with the T. rex and cerat right now with the paint modification which will take lots of work.
Really nice repaint but I actually like how this one looks straight out of the box. I dont mind the red not reaching all the way to the tail because that's how the Ceratosaurus looked like in the JP3. The teeth could be a little thinner but I still like them how they are.
I want to see him do a Joker paintjob for laughs just to see how that plays out. EDIT: Sound Strike bundle would be great. Joker Giga and Mur-ray Rex repaints!
Great video! I am curious about the necessity of primer when adding onto the existing paint rather than a total-repaint. I have a Megaraptor and on one side the face stripes are messed up. Can i repair those stripes without primer and if i use a sealer like modgepodge will i need to apply it to the whole head to get it to match and will it be too shiny? I’m afraid the matte finish is still too shiny
Bro you need to work at Mattel your paint jobs are crazy! Oh and bye the way can you send the link For that feather t-rex the Santa beard :because me and my mom want to make it
I've seen Jurassic Park 3 so many times and I don't think Cerato had any dark shades around his eyes, or maybe it was the lights that made it look that way?
funny how sticking the teeth to the inside of the mouth not only made it look better but it also looks more natural. wonder why !(it should just have lips)
Just received mine and ready to use this tutorial to upgrade it but I won't modify the teeth. I rewatched that scene from jp3 and the teeth are actually this big.
I was on the fence about detailing the Centrosaurus, but this video gave me the nudge. I left the teeth tho, since Centrosaurus is notoriously toothy, so I don't mind it.
What paints and supplies do you use and recommend? I’ve never repainted any figures but I’d love to revamp my own in my style. You did an excellent job!
Vallejo and Army Painter are pretty good for paints and washes. Miniac and Tabletop Minions have a bunch of videos on getting started with mini painting if you want to check them out, but they're more wargame oriented.

Yeah, I was gonna say, ceratosaurus legitimately had GIGANTIC teeth
I agree with you. Fossil reconstructions show that the teeth overlap clearly over the lower jaw to extents that are almost unimaginable

Everything about this repaint and edit is objectively better than what the figure's sold as, amazing job!
This looks amazing! Can you do it with the Baryonyx as well?
Yea I wanna see to
@JurassicParkCompound, if you see this, I have an awesome repaint idea: a T Rex with a Gila Monster design
P.S. Great job as always 👏

Your repaints are so good you should seriously work for mattel
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I could tell you fixed the ABSURD overbite. Great job.
Ceratosaurus did have ridiculously long teeth! They wouldn't have been so thick and more blade like but the overbite is accurate.

So incredibly happy to see the head properly painted with the stripes, Mattel for some reason just won't put them on any of their Ceratosaurus.
Awesome...wait, he give...he give lips tô this Ceratosaurus???😍

will you do a repaint the hammond collection barryonix limbo or the other two
It looks amazing
You should repaint a beast of Mesozoic velociraptor as as one of the raptors from prehistoric planet
Dude haven't seen one of these in a while.
The only idea I have to use this figure is to make a MonsterVerse Gorosaurus, so that my Kong figure has someone to face off with.
I give it a 10/10
I went to eat at Denny's for lunch. And then I went to watch Jurassic World Dominion for the 3rd time.
