My ankles broke watching this.
The cast will change over the years and the seasons, but this beautiful format MUST remain. It’s an amazing show, amazing dancing, very wonderful dancers.
Riverdance, don't ever change, never bow to the demands of modernization. You are simply perfect as you are. Twenty years from now you're dances and routines will still be just as fresh and exciting now as they were back in 1994.

You have to Physically IMMERSE yourself into this vibe - dance, move, clap, sing, play - then & ONLY THEN you may start to feel fired 🔥 by it. Whether you are bored or grateful - it's your choice, but it reflects your life values, not Riverdance

My nephew was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17! For his birthday I would love to take him to go see one of these Irish tap dancing shows! In my opinion if you’re born on St. Patrick’s you’re an honorary Irish person.
These dancers are so polished in their moves and gestures. Bravo!

Saw this show 7 times and it never gets old. Great opening number and love the band on the stage as they are an integral part of the show.
Always full of energy and joy. Never tired of this.
First heard of this dance troupe 20+ years ago, heard they were going to perform in Madison, WI, and was standing first in line to buy tickets for my eight year old daughter and myself. Front row seats! Almost priceless! Loved it!
the filming and edit on this is incredible. The close ups are very powerful
And they say that old choreographies need to be either completely "re-choreographised" or removed, otherwise it gets boring. Look at this. More than 20 years and it is still as good as on the very first occasion. This choreography will simply never get old. Never.

I second that I have seen so many versions of Riverdance and the only thing that changes is the costumes, the dances are the same and it’s perfect.
some of the segments have actually changed quite a bit. there are at least 3 versions of "firedance". the original was the flamenco dancer with flatley, then they had the flamenco dancer alone, and then they came up with one with the flamenco dancer with 4 male irish dancers, and that version seems to have stuck
The only other dance that was re choreographized was trading taps....that changed almost every show
@@Bondmanproductions that one being partially improvisational probably made it a bit different with every performance. and of course, it wasn't even in the original show. there was a completely different tap dance routine with ragtime music and zoot suits. really glad they changed that
Riverdance is the best, I saw them when they came to Australia many years ago. Brilliant. Éire go Brách
Jesus the footwork on this is stellar. I could never I don't think... I would just trip and embarrass myself. I am not what one would call "light on their feet". If you told me these people could tap dance across a lake and float along the surface the entire time, I'd believe you.
Edit: I actually tried tap dance (not traditional Irish tap though) in a 3 day summer dance camp in elementary school, and the teacher HATED me, shoved me in the very back because I couldn't get my feet to do the clickies at all, I just couldn't "snap" my feet. I'm not light on my feet man. She spoke very curtly with me and just shook her head a lot and went on to praise other children. It actually made me cry and I just snuck off into the curtains and hid until the performance ended, took my shoes off and left. The ballet teacher wasn't mean, but wasn't encouraging either. I couldn't get the pirouettes, with spotting, my line kept going at an angle. I do however, remember to this day "pleia, dormier, abase". Hip hop class was good. Was about the only time my body moved how I wanted it to. Wish it had been longer than 3 days.
The poise ,the fitness level, the hours , days, years of practise to reach that standard . They move their feet on the floor quicker than I can my hands on the table 😂😂

Had the fortunate timing and opportunity to see them at the gaeity theater in Dublin when i was in ireland in 2017 one of the best memories ill hold dear to me for ever! Been a fan since i was 7.

This never gets old. I love all of Riverdance, but Reel Around the Sun just blows me away every time. Thanks to whomever made the video for showing lots of feet action.

Fantastic music to keep you motivated on the long stretch of highways in Australia. Played the whole album for 9 hrs. Amazing music and dance.
Had this whole routine memorized!! If you were a young dancer back when this show was the hottest ticket in town you probably had the best time of your life!! We performed at various events and parties as kids and traveling all over the world competing and basically just having a blast. Would give anything to go back in time...

That's awesome. I took ballet growing up but my ballet teachers were.... To put it kindly.... Complete and utter perverted douches.... And yes. That was putting it kindly. There were a couple times when I took a little bit of tap and loved it. More than ballet. I actually looked forward to it. I do wish that I had focused more of my time on taking tap but my sister taught ballet so because of that we got a discount on classes. Plus I was small and miniscule so I didn't really know what I wanted. I do wish that I had taken more tap and focused on that more than ballet. Who knows where I would have ended up. Plus I've always wanted to learn this choreography with every fiber of my being since before I could remember but never could. Maybe in another life. Wouldn't that be something. 😊 how was it? The dancing and learning it? Hard I assume as usual it always is but easier than ballet because its not quite as.... How do I put it.... Fantasy facade like, where you look like one thing but put yourself through hell to look that way and feel like hell 24/7. My sister, who I mentioned taught ballet, she suffers every day and she's only in her early 30s. Granted she had 2 kids but was in pain even before. The grueling training she put herself through literally day and night. Taping her toes with electric tape and bandaids, stretching her turnouts causing her knees to grow awkward, practicing on point for hours on end, literally standing on the edge of your toes. She looked so graceful and beautiful on stage dancing around like a beautiful fairy walking on air, but when she'd come home she'd untape her toes and put them in ice. In my opinion ballet is the very definition of "beauty is pain" and I got a tiny taste of it when my douchey teachers nearly injured me trying to get me to split on multiple occasions.

I went to see the 25 year show lastnight along with my niece , and we both loved it , amazing it really was , singing Irish dancing tap dancing
And visually it was spectacular , I highly recommend you see it when it comes to your city , I seen it first time round and it’s still fantastic 😀😀

Well, I started Irish dance at age 23 and I sometimes still wish I had started earlier, as in competitions you quickly end up in 'over 25' categories. In smaller competitions, this can even be over 16. You just know that as an adult, you will have a hard time winning anything at all that way ;)
I wish the camera would stop moving too.

There's a Blu-ray "Riverdance Live from Beijing" but apparently it's out of print and selling for $85 on Amazon. There's also a new Lord of the Dance blu-ray using updated digital backdrops.

The first Riverdance show I saw was the original with Michael Flatley, and Jean Butler. Takes me back to my travel days 1995...
It started with the eurovision song contest and the first performance at the Pointe theater in Dublin.

I saw Riverdance at the Hammersmith Apollo when Jean Butler was the lead. Jean fell quite badly, but got up and continued, then a couple of the girls slipped as well. The stage must have been like an ice rink that night. Reel Around the Sun is my favourite part of the show though.

@@heatherlewis1284 Pity that you quit because of the competitions, but I don't know how that works in other countries. On 'The Continent' (Europe) most schools do persuade students to take part in competitions, but if you really don't want to, the teachers will respect that. Than you just dance because you want to dance and even though you don't compete, you will eventually get higher up.
I started when I was 23 years old, but only entered the first competition when I was 26 or so. I still dance, just no more competitions as I just suck because I'm far too nervous (self-esteem problem here...). While I dance the stars out of the sky in class, I'm just a fraction of that at a competition and when during a break the adjudicator came to me to encourage me (and basically ask if there was something wrong) and that was the second time in a row that happened to me, I decided to quit the world of competition after 8 of them or so.
Maybe who knows I will someday find that inner strength that does make me able to perform good on a competition, but for now, I'm (sort of) happy the way it is (as those few times I did end up on the second or first spot of the podium, did feel nice and everybody else in class goes to competitions)
I knew I should have remained a cobbler......I'd be rollin in it.....

i love the riverdancs so much they were here in plam springs it was out of this world the magic they had the way they dancs its so amazing i can not explan how much i have misst this and they showed michael flatyley as well and they did amazing and wonderful job i was so lucky to see them it well take your heart a way i was so in awww with riaverdancs

This guys is pretty slick! He’s a good dancer
fascinating to see the differences in style and choreography in this dance. This one is really intense with eye contact, hand on hip, and more hip movement in general. oh, and the neck circling was very interesting. my group is doing hands behind the back until the penguin step and just facing forward. so cool.
