I’m a professional plantscaper. I go to offices, lobbies, restaurants and etc and take care of plants. Instead of using rocks in the bottom of your plant pots, which can make them heavy, use styrofoam peanuts!!! Great for recycling. Push the pot down to settle it among the peanuts to crush them up if needed. Use as many or as few as you need. And it keeps the plants nice and light for moving around and redecorating, or, well cleaning.

Use pool noodles instead of the peanuts. Works just as good and a lot cheaper. I have used them for a few years now in my pots. Especially in my big plant pots. With the noodles I use less dirt, I can cut them any size best for the size pot I am working on, and the pot is much lighter once I am done. That is always great because it allows me to move them around by myself. Also, you are not using as much dirt, so you are saving there too. I use them for my small potted plants as well. Where I live, the pool noodles are always cheaper at Wal-Mart than Dollar Tree, so I get them at Wal-Mart. They have the regular-size pool noodles and then the ones that are just a little bigger, I think the jumbo pool noodle, .94-.98 cents. Also, each year as summer is winding down and all the pool stuff goes on sale, is when I stock up on them. So, I never even pay, not even .98 cents for them. I pay .25-.50 cents. Last year, I got lucky. At the end, they had marked them down to .15-.20 cents. I grabbed me a few extra to have. I have found them to come in handy in a lot of ways, task, and some hacks.

for the bread container, leave the bread in the bag when you place it in the container with the open end of the bag draped over the container. As you use bread, pull the bag up in the container to minimize the amount of air that is in the container....just like the "actual" bread container...

I'm like you Andrea. Never used Mayo on my grilled cheese while growing up. My husband was the 1st to introduce me to Mayo. I really like it. I still just use butter too as we like to dip the grilled cheese sandwich into tomatoe soup. And by the way, we make our tomatoe soup with milk rather than water. What a difference this makes. Just helping out! Thank you all.

With the grocery bags i reuse a lysol wipes container to make a pop up dispenser. After washing/drying it out, keep the lid off. Put the first bag in bottom down, hold the handles both open, take the next bag bottom through the handles of the first one, pull it through about 1/3 and make a “u” shape out of the second bag. Stuff the second in leaving the handles out. Put the bottom of the third bag through the handles of the second and stuff it down, etc. I love to sit one of these containers next to my small trash baskets, in the car and kitchen for garbage or scraps to go to the compost. Ive gotten over 100 into the biggest lysol wipes containers. You can even shut the lid on them in case they roll around in the car. I usually break off the lid on the ones in the house. Its a bit easier getting a bag out with one hand without the lid flopping around! Lol Hope this helps! 😊

Lots of great ideas Andrea! When I buy thrifted baskets or just need to clean my own, I spray them down with a cleaner, use a brush to loosen the grime and just rinse them off in the shower or outside with a hose. Most baskets can take being hosed off, unless they're painted. Dry them in the sun or near a vent in the house. Thank you for all your ideas!

Lorelyn , I clean my baskets just like you do. I try to do this in the summer, hose them off, let them dry in the sun, and finally I spray a clear coat finish ( any brand you like ) That helps for keeping dust and dirt from sticking to the basket. Then it is easier to clean next time. 😀

We use our plastic bags for more than shopping. Hubby takes his lunch to work in them. He brings it home, uses it again. For his trip this weekend, I packed his shoes in one. I also pack another one or two to put his dirty clothes. We also use them as small garbage can liners. When we had our dog, I would use the used ones as poopy bags.

Those bread bags bring back memories of childhood: When your rain boots or snow mobile boots get the inevitable hole, Use your bread bag as a waterproof liner until you can buy a replacement. Just wear your sock, insert foot into bag, then put bagged foot into boot. Your foot will be dry (or at least now wet from rain or snow, maybe some sweat happens). You're Welcome!

8:05 is so smart... if you need to hang something with multiple hooks/hang something level, my favorite trick is a paint stir stick with a short screw drilled through one end. It makes it so easy and fast to hang things perfectly level if there's more than one hook!

Mayo or Miracle Whip on the bread adds tang and crisps up better. Also works on chicken breasts to keep moisture in. Freeze bread that is getting stale to use to thicken tomato sauce and other sauces. Shoe paste wax works great to fill scratches on furniture and you can blend black and brown or cordovan to full maple, walnut, or mahogany. The curtain idea is cute, but impossible to do on flat heavy furniture. You can’t feed it all the way under.

Good stuff Andrea! Just wanted to add that all those plastic bags can be used for fun. My 2 grandsons stay with us from time to time and the days when its a little too hot to be out we take the plastic bags out and have a snowball fight in the house. I you hold a corner with your thumb and 2 fingers you can wrap them quickly and stuff tail in the hole left by your fingers. This is how I stash the bags too and stuff them into one bag and they hang in my pantry . I also use them in my kitchen when I am prepping potatoes, onions etc, they are my garbage bags. Have a good day!

I find the after getting the air out of those bags, it’s so much easier and lots faster to hold the middle area while u fold it in half and then fold it in half again whole wrapping it around your forefinger and ending up with a knot. It’s tighter and take 1/4 of the time☝🏼😅

For hanging pictures. I prefer the tip to use paint tape (I buy it at the dollar store as it’s cheap and I don’t need much) You place the tape sticky side out on the item to hang. Mark with marker where the hanger parts are, you can sort of press the tape into it too instead. Then place the item on the wall and the tape sticks. You then add the nail or screw in the marked places. Works great. Haven’t tried the mayo grilled cheese, my Mom used to add a bit of mustard inside for the tang. Maybe I’ll skip the butter and mustard and try mayo. For softer butter when it’s rock hard, fill up a glass with warm water and drop in the rock hard stick. Butter should soften to room temperature quickly.

    @obscuredgurl Před 8 měsíci +2

The lint fire starter reminded me of the cheapest fire log hack that i based on an already exsiting boy scout trick.. Keep all the old paper tubing from the house (toilet paper, paper towels, ect.) As they empty; flatten them out and stick them all inside of one open tube until it fills up and packs tightly. Now there are two options from here.. use leftover candle wax and fill the tube this way or soak it in vegetable oil depending on what ur using it for, and it will burn for quite a long time ^.^

Your rolling up the garbage bags hack had me LOL...that is exactly what I was doing while watching your video! I have 2 huge plastic sacks full of crumpled grocery bags that have only been sitting there for maybe 5 years! But I roll mine into balls, which takes up even less space, and then I put them in a plastic bag dispenser (mesh, w/a loop) from Temu. I hang that on my bakers' rack next to the fridge...outta sight and no more cascade of plastic bags when I'm trying to remove a baking sheet from the cupboard!

Hi Andrea Jean, ABSOLUTELY LOVE your videos, binge watch them!! I had this tip from a very elderly Uncle years ago, he was an exceptional gardner, he told me to wipe off my garden tools, eg., any snippers, bigger choppers, or any tool used to trim your plants, ,, spray immediatly with WD40 and wipe off with a kitchen towel , or chux and put away, there fore not needing to clean before, and this will stop them from rusting, also will keep them sharp ... may be everyone know this, but I didnt, and have done it for 20 years and my garden tools are still great

I remember everything about that day, the day that I first tasted Ranch Dressing. My Godmother made it using the packet (that's the only way it was sold). It's a day I'll never forget, it changed my life!😅 I still love Ranch above any other condiment.
I look for ways to incorporate Ranch on any number. Pizza is certainly one of my top ten items that Ranch makes even better!

I have a friend that collects plastic bags...(She has people that saves them for her). She cuts them into strips and then crochets them into mats and donates them to the homeless for waterproof sleep mats. I do not know how many bags it takes for 1 mat but I thought I would share. BTW I would like to learn how to crochet. Any tips?

Dollar tree has the regular silver color in different sizes but you can look for the different color ones, if you have 2 or 3 kiddos you pin together the socks with a different color safety pin. Or I use a medium size mesh bag. My favorite tip safety pins.

Didn't see this in the comments yet, if you leave your bread in the bag and then add it to the plastic container, leaving it in the bag with the plastic hanging over the outside it keeps crumbs out of the bottom and pulls the bread up for you as you pull the plastic down on the sid s as you use the bread. Hope that made sense.

I also take the pan off the burner when it's time to flip. Carefully remove sandwich with spatula, set on plate until next butter is put in pan and melted then flip the sandwich and cook till golden

If you have trouble with lifting heavy furniture like me, just a thought. When you put the easy mover curtain under the table you could try spreading the cloth under the middle of the table, then lift and pull the edges out with your foot instead of moving the whole large cloth 'bump' underneath the legs from one side. Great tips! Thanks Andrea Jean!

I had a great Aunt, born in 1888, and after she passed in her 80's we cleaned out the house. In her bedroom dresser was found tons of bread bags! In the drawers, smashed up behind the drawers etc, enough to fill a lawn trash bag. 😮. She used them to cover shoes/boots when muddy outside, as disposable gloves, stuffing for purses, lunch bags, covering leftovers. I don't think she ever purchased zip type bags and why should she when bread bags were free😅🎉.

We have several plastic cereal containers, mostly from my bf's late mom's collection & I use them now for keeping cat food fresher & storing plastic bags in the bedroom. I have the plastic bag one beside the small bedroom trashcan to keep my kitties out of them & safe. The cat food one is in the bedroom too, since that's where they eat, easier to keep housemates' 2 dogs out of it (they love cat food, but need to leave it for the cats & eat their own!😺🐶) As for the cereal, i just use a cute chip clip on the bag in the box. I like finding new uses for things too. I remember my late mom at least once saying that when I was a baby in the 1980's, they reused bread bags for dirty cloth diapers when out of the house. Then brought them home to wash the diapers. I guess it worked pretty well. I know some will probably think that's gross, but that's how it was done before disposable diapers were a thing & for some still, like my cousin with her daughter. Cloth diapers are also said to help potty train earlier & probably faster since kiddo can feel when they're wet more. Just wanted to share. ❤ Thanks for your videos.

When traveling and taking bottles with liquid, I take pieces of plastic wrap (Seran, Cling, etc), cut it into pieces of about 3" squares, remove the lid, put a piece of plastic wrap over the top, and screw the lid back on while holding the plastic wrap tightly around the bottle. I have done this with travel size squirt bottles (hair spray, etc) and put a tiny hole in the plastic to replace the sprayer while holding the plastic wrap when screwing on the lid. I then put all bottles into a zip lock bag(s) to store the same bottles for the return trip. By now, many of the bottles will not be filled to the top. FYI: Take extra small zip lock bags to keep squirt bottles separate.

Rub a raw pecan or walnut half into scratches on wood. In junior high we had to do that on all assembly hall chairs, a very long tome ago. A hair dryer may loosen stickers it works on boxs to remove labels and tape. Soaking bottles or jars in baking soda water helps remove labels. You can also use hair rinse to shave with it softenss hair and helps glide over skin.

Mayo fries better. I also rub mayo on meats I want to bake or roast. Keeps them more moist.
Don’t take the bread out of the bag. Put bag & bread in, opening up top. Spread opening over top of container. Pull bag edges while the next slice of bread rises to opening.
Use a damp towel under cutting boards, they won’t slide & yu can wipe up the counter when done.
