Oleksandr Zinchenko has been a brilliant player for arsenal getting them to the next level. However, it may be time to consider his position in the squad after he has been dropped to the bench. Zinchenko is technically one of the best in the squad. We should find ways to repurpose him. I think in the longer run he could play in the Jorginho role. This will save us tons of money for a new striker instead.

The thing is Jorginho knows his defensive game better particularly in the case of positioning and commanding defensive play as well as looking for the foul in a high pressure situation.
Also, Zinny is not as good at long range passing as Jorginho so him playing deep is wasted. If anything Odegaard's role fits Zinny the best in the team but speed is one of his problems plus we have no idea if his pressing is any good.
I fully agree with the idea that just like we treated a great player like Tierney who never put a foot wrong game wise but just became tactically redundant the same can be said of Zinny due to his glaring 1v1 weaknesses
No chance. I fell in love with Zinchenko last season but after watching him for so long he's erratic with the ball. Too cocky with his own ability at times. Gets lost in his own sauce if you will. The West Ham match comes to mind, taking so many touches and literally holding up play instead of helping it. Not to mention he's shit defensively, like actually garbage for a top 6 side "defender". Zinchenko as a 6 would cost you at least 9 points a season off conters he gave up from losing the ball trying to do too much. I promise you that. Jorginho getting ripped against Spurs? I could see that happening multiple times to Zinchenko. Zinchenko is TOP when he's focused but that's the thing, he isn't focused enough.

People have short memories. Zinny and Jesus transformed this team into euro challengers to title challengers. He is needed for depth and can play in multiple positions left and center. He is also a fighter a leader and a winner. With the ball Zinchenko is still better than white but defensively White and Kiwior are completely clear.

There is no one like Zinchenko the way he breaks lines, controls the tempo and creates in the final third. His defensive weakness is far overstated - at the moment he is low on confidence. There is no more than 3 occasions people can name from last season where he was playing week in week out. Look at how he had the technical respect of every arsenal player in a crisis situation Vs Porto. They kept finding him and asking him to do something.

The problem is all the mistakes from him tbh even against the lesser teams he seems to be a liability and they have more of a chance on the counter due to his poor positioning. Gabriel constantly has to cover for him which isn't easy to watch and doesn't make most fans feel secure when he's on the field. Just facts bro.

with LB spot is covered, Zinchenko can be used by Arteta at midfield.. This will be advantageous for us, for Arteta to tweak his tactics in any game as he wishes..

Zinny got what it takes to overcome this bad spell. He gives this squad depth to complete in multiple competitions.
People forget that we went to places that we didn't normally win at ie Tottenham away last season and he even started vs city at home where people were saying he was gonna get cooked I'm not saying start him every single match but I find the u turn to be quite pathetic he was considered one of the best lb in the league last season
@@tipo444 I do believe Zinchenko is going through much lower levels of confidence than he ever had previously with Arsenal hence his plays dont seem as daring and clever but he does have defensive weaknesses even in those moments. I happen to be someone who believes the same for Kiwior as we are yet to face persistent right wing pressure from any team to see just how good defensively

@@burlhorse61 both Kiwior and Zinchenko (Kiwior less so) are not good 1v1 defenders. Ben White is good at blocking the opponents paths but often backs off defenders too much. Because Arsenal are not exposed enough by effective counter attacks our players are rarely put in this situation but I am waiting to see moments for all the full backs where we can see their ability on 1v1 more

NO. I love the lad to bits, he is a big mentality monster, a leader in his own rights, and a creator. Sure say all you want about his defensive abilities but at least he acknowledges it and is working on it in training and need i remind you he is only age 28 this year and still got time to hone it. Plus he can be converted to take on a more permanent midfield position once we get in enough cover at the back in the summer. Cmon man, let's be rational here and back our boys.

It’s the same that Barcelona would want Busquets instead of a physical destroyer type of defensive midfielder.
If you play out from the back 10000 times, it is inevitable that 10 of those passes would be a “mistake”.
However, if you always hoof the ball, you will never make such “mistakes”. But you won’t get the massive rewards.
It depends on how you use him. If we controls 80% possession, then we don’t even have to defend. Zinchenko can help breaking down low block.
But sometimes, when we are leading, Arteta likes to park the bus to defend the lead. Then Zinchenko is not suited to those situations because you won’t ask Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets to park the bus, they would concede a lot of goals if you ask them to do that.

That makes sense as that's his natural position as he plays in his national team. he's never been a left back hence the defensive frailty he's just been played in that role by pep and mikel that's why we shouldn't be too hard on his defensive abilities.
I think he was bought for that but the injury to Tierney led to him playing at LB. So Arteta found a way to play him like a midfielder by inverting him.

Zinchenko can play in multiple positions like lb, lbw, Lcdm, lcm and can also play in LAM. Why would we loose such a versatile player

Most people don’t understand Zinchenko is a CM and not even an LB.
The experience he had was so important last season where it seemed like he was a 12th man on the pitch and, other teams were not ready and expecting us to be that good.
Timber and Kiwior are the long term and I think if Arsenal get this Jorrel Hato from Ajax as well, then Zinchenko might only have another year at the club. Mikel wants a well rounded, fast, strong full back who can pass, dribble and handle one on one situations without much trouble.

Fifteen games left to go, I was out with a Gooner friend for tea, and I had given my thoughts to him that the reason we were going to lose out on the title were because of two specific players giving the ball away through unforced errors: Thomas Partey, and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Can see him getting into the midfield next year. He can do the jorginho role while someone else does the wide 1v1 defending that he struggles the most. We can't trust tomi health (neither zinnys) and how timber will return is still a question mark. Having plenty of options on that left side is still essential
Hmm... i wonder how Zinny would fair if he played as a number 8 next to Rice's 6. I wonder if him and Odegaard together would give us 2 playmakers, plus he can shoot from outside the box (our major weakness in the central channel of attack).

Its time to convert and trust Zinchenko to play the Xhaka number 8 role and making him one of the quality midfielders in the team moving forward. Kiwior, Tomiyasu and Timber have got the left back position covered. Also Ben White, Tomiyasu and Timber have got the right back position covered. That's some physical quality depth on both the left and right back positions.
Zinny is good,,,only weak in defensive ..we still need him as squad depth
I still think he can do a role in this Arsenal side. The only thing is both White and Timber (from what i have seen of him), can invert quite well, but are also a lot more stronger defensively. I do think Zinchenko is a better chance creater and technically minded...but i have seen him be defensively a bit of a liablility at times. Thats my biggest worry about him, though if Tomiyasu plays RB, then we can play Zinchenko as our inverted fullback and Tomi, Sailba and Gabriel shift across. Just like we are doing with White and Kiwior, just opposite sides.
Either way, i guess we will see what the plan is come the summer.
I think timber might replace him because he can give us something similar offensively and is much more sound defensively

No need to leave, get Tierney back to compete with kiwior and dish inverting from the left to inverting from the right with white and timber then move zinny to compete for CM position

Zinchenko should be tried at mid field. With reduced defensive responsibility, he can also help odegaard (mostly on the left side) in unlocking defenses.

Yes he is bad in one on ones, zinchenko does infact track back , dont say he doesnt , he is very creative has something that most of the squad lacks ; the ability to break down low blocks , overall kwior looking at what they have done in football does not measure up to zinchenko , he is going to help us alot in the champions league games he has very good technical abilites, kwior is not very different from tierney in my opinion. And zinchenko is miles better in building up attacks than kwior ,he should be given the midfield role,that way he dosent have to be the last line of defense

Zin is a midfielder and a good one for that matter. Therefore should be played in the midfield. Playing him in defence will only undermine him and waste his talent.

If Neuer makes 10000 short passes at the back, it is inevitable that 10 of them would be a “mistake” passing straight to the opponent.
If he stays so far off his line 10000 times, it is inevitable that he will concede 10 goals from getting lobbed.
If you have a goalkeeper who always clear the ball long, and always stick to his line, he will never make those “mistakes”.
However, you don’t get the massive benefits to get more and higher quality of possession, ball progression, chance creation. Your team can’t play a high line to pin the opponent back. You don’t get to prevent one on one situations at the back.

OK here's the solution to all this, defensively Zinny has no place anymore, but midfield yes! Where? Ordegaard's position or Joginho , Why ? Coz of his technical abilities he might stand a chance.

Too much of the ball goes through Zinchenko when he is playing and it hinders us, honestly i would sell him he is a good player though not defensively solid enough.
Nah keep him, we have enough defensively to accommodate his shortcomings, and he more than makes up for it in other areas, a lot like Trent for Liverpool.

If Arsenal is really serious about winning the premier league, Zinchencko must not play a single minute again for rest of the season in the last 10 games. His defensive frailties and incompetence, combined with the frequent lapses of concentration under no pressure is unacceptable. With Tomiyasu and Timber fit again, Zinchencko must be sidelined indefinitely. He must be sold and replaced appropriately in the summer transfer window.

Today Arteta went back to not deciding between Havertz and Jesus. Zinchenko was ambitious and wasn't his best game but not the problem at all

Fickle fans. This time last year arsenal lost a winnable title coz of a thin squad when 3 players got injured. Saliba Tomi and TP5. Everyone was crying for squad depth and quality bench. Now you have it, you start turning on Zinny and Jesus. With games against Bayern City Spurs Chelsea United away among others to come in a very short period!!!. Need every player

When White doesnt play and invert who will be able to invert properly?? Tomiyasu can't, Timber is still learning, and Kiwior can't. Zinchenko is still a great option going forward. Also people seem to forget that against City, Zinchenko coped well vs Foden and even when Doku came on, hes going through a bad spell imo but he can get over it, i just think the fans gotta show him some more support, its like everyone wants to ignore what he gives us and zoom in on his weaknesses, every player has weaknesses, Back Your Players!!
