An earthquake of significant magnitude, registering at 7.3 on the Richter scale, has struck the region of Antofagasta in Chile.
The epicenter of this powerful earthquake was pinpointed to be located 164 miles, which is approximately 265 kilometers, east of the coastal city of Antofagasta.
The depth at which this tremor occurred has been measured at 78.5 miles, equivalent to 126 kilometers, beneath the Earth's surface.
Following the earthquake, there have been no immediate reports indicating any loss of life or substantial damage to property in the affected area.
The Geological Survey has reported that the earthquake caused significant shaking of homes and also led to power outages in several regions.
According to AFP, there has been no tsunami warning issued so far in response to the earthquake.
Residents living in the coastal city of Antofagasta experienced substantial shaking as the earthquake struck, leading to considerable alarm and concern.
Local authorities are currently monitoring the situation very closely and are actively assessing any potential impacts or damage that may have resulted from the earthquake.
