I do something similiar. I use 3 box of borax, 3 of the arm & hammer super wash, 13.5lbs of baking soda, & 3 bars of grated kirks castile soap, along with a couple drops of essential oil. This normally lasts us 6mos to a yr using 1/4 cup for normal loads & 1/2 cup for extra large loads or work clothes for an added boost. I also use 1/4 cup white vinegar for fabric softner in the wash & wool dryer balls w essential oils in place of dryer sheets. Also, for any really stubborn stains such as oils, fuel, etc a prewash w murphys oil soap will take it right out!. Definitely do a prewash as if you add it in to the normal laundry load the smell of the murphys stays until you wash again.

Sooo true!! Thank you! Those are soaps not detergent, which is what modern washing machines were made for!

It's nice to hear someone speaking in language that I understand, I know what jet fuel and grease do to clothing. I've bought all the stuff and getting ready to start mixing it.

She could change it to liquid if she ever had any problems your really under everyone's post talk crap a real troll hun you can take a heaping full cup and add it to a gallon of water and have a gallon of liquid laundry if you did it that way it would surely last for years instead of months ❤🎉

Soap requires hot water, vigorous agitation and thorough rinsing. That’s why soap-based laundry detergents are unsuitable for modern washers, especially HE machines.

It’s watered down with filler (baking soda) and two water softeners. You’re also contaminating a well formulated detergent with bar soap, which became obsolete over 70 years ago. Then you’re using a minuscule amount, such that it’s like washing with plain water. And you’re proud of this? Yikes!

You can always add or take away from this recipe. You don't necessarily have to add anything to it, unless you want to double up on one particular item, or sub something else in.
