Thank you for watching, happy stitching!

Your hands are so beautiful, clean. Thank you!
Love what you do. Found out I've been doing couching wrong all these years. Never too old to learn something new.
Thank you, I am sure you are not doing it wrong, there are different ways, this is just my way. 😉😊
Yes, I’ve always gone under the couched thread as well as over it, so effectively a whip stitch? Definitely going to try this way too
That's exactly what I said -- I've been doing it wrong all these years! LOL -- I like this way much better!
yes everything was clear ;) and definitely inspired more ideas - thank you :)
I would love to "meet" Fred-Fred and your two dogs (one big and one small I think you said). I have found that most crafty people are also animal lovers. Almost every crochet/embroidery/yarn/sewing person on CZcams that I have ever watched has at least one cat sleeping on their work table. So precious. So please let us see your fur babies........ 🙂 I have never tried couching. In my naivete, I just assumed that one would just go over and over and over the "yarn" to be couched, but the way that you are demonstrating makes sooooooo much more sense. Thank you !!!
My pleasure, yes one big old well-behaved dog and one small, naughty one! Plus Fredfred and two horses 😁❤️
Thank you for this lesson. I love your couching method. I had not seen it done that way. ❤❤❤
My pleasure 😊
I'm so excited to see your videos. 🤩
🤗❤️
This is a Fun one… a lot of possibilities, thanks
My pleasure 😊
I actually loved seeing the back of that large wall hanging. While maybe not aesthetic for a wall hanging, the backs of pieces show off all the work/progress that has gone into e into it better than the front sometimes.
Yes. I love the backs, to me they kind of show the journey you took in the stitching. The last large wall quilt I had in an exhibition had a piece of twine hanging from one corner so people could lift it up to see the back. 😊❤️
I am so clad I found your channel. I love slow stitching and watching slow stitching
Welcome 🤗
I love couching. My favorite thing to couch is long pieces of yarn or twisted fabric meandering in wiggles all across a space. I never plan it out too much, just let it go where it does or fill it in. It's wonderful to see all these stitches in detail- inspires me to get stitching!
That sounds wonderful, both to stitch and to look at 😉❤️
Yes! The ends of cording, ribbon, yarn! Why didn't I think of that. I have been using jacobean couching with skinny bits from squaring up quilt blocks. Someday I will have enough for one of the rice bags.
I have just subscribed..thank you much for thinking about us stitchers and knowing that we are out there, just slowly creating ,and passing the needle through the cloth. You pictured your little community stitching away silently from all over the world. As I clicked subscribe, I suddenly felt like a little piece of the jigsaw, making up the whole picture. Like the picture is more complete with me in it. I am such a novice stitcher, but I am nevertheless an addict. I have got the bug. Thank you so much for your inspiration .
My pleasure thank you for subscribing and welcome to this lovely community ♥️
Thank you K3N. I don’t know how I found you but I’m so very happy that I have. I am a quilter but I cannot wait to get started slow stitching. You have inspired me with your lovely attitude and instructive videos. 💕❤️💕❤️
My pleasure, I am happy you found me too ❤️
A playful cat is a happy cat! I can only imagine how great it must be to be able to play in your craftroom! Thanks for the video🍀💖
❤
oh yes it's a great cat adventure playground! 😁 you're welcome ♥️
Thank you so much for a great tutorial 😊
Love watching you stitch ❤️ love, love cats!! I find humor hearing them lolol thanks for sharing your talent with us ❤️❤️
Super another lesson learned. I made a Wabi Sabi quilt each square embellish with crochet thread over scaps random pieces.
That sounds wonderful, Wabi Sabi is a lovely concept ❤️
I’m just starting slow stitching (2 days ago!) I’m hooked for sure! Thank you for your assistance.
You are very welcome, hope you enjoy the journey ❤️
It’s Fred’s channel, anyway! Still being inspired by you; I’ve made a running stitch over scraps sideboard runner, I’ve made two sets of coasters from fabric twine and now I’m doing a mat for the coffee table similar to the sideboard runner. My cat also helped me 😸
Sshh don't say that out loud, he WILL take over! 😂 So happy that you are having fun 😊❤️ and of course, amusing your cat.. 😊❤️
Hadn’t thought of couching on my slow stitch but I’ll give it a try. Thanks
You're welcome 🤗
So many possibilities. 💖💖💖
Hello there, I really appreciate and enjoy your podcasts, you have a great imagination and lots of patience but you are very hard on yourself and there is no need to be because you you are in charge. It is all very informative and enjoyable. Thank you again, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year, I have a feeling you will be back before then. Take care.
Thank you, I don't know if I am hard on myself or if it's just the ingrained Yorkshire habit of running myself down so I don't get too big for my boots! 😁 I have a couple more videos to come before Christmas but thanks for the greetings and Merry Christmas to you too ❤️
I continue to admire your creative imagination!🌹
Thank you so much 😊
So appreciate Your very humble approach to helping someone like me ….”a newbie” to believe they should give this a go…….the circle was a perfect explanation of the basics…..as so much can be done with a strand….l.but the second “ organic” piece just opened so many more doors of possibilities…..this series continues to be a gift….
It's absolutely my pleasure, and as you saw, I had an 'aha' moment myself to open some more of those doors 😉❤️
Türkçe olursa daha çok yararlanabilirim sizden..
Recently I discovered your channel, and I find it very inspiring! I'm really looking forward to the 52 weeks, and I'll definitely join.
Thank you 😊
Made my first piece of cloth twine last night, it was very relaxing.
That's lovely to hear ❤️
That's a fun stitch! Can't wait to try it 🙂
Have fun 😊
When you mentioned 'cat fur', I glanced over to the recent cat whisker dropped by my Maine Coon cat..... hmmmm
Later tonight, I'm going to couch his long and thick whisker to my grey wool cloth book cover. There's a small bit of gold colored shiny thread that will give my cover some 'bling' posh too... Lol 🍄🍄
What a wonderful idea. How lucky to find the whisker, I have never found one of Fredfred's, only the ones still attached to his face. 😁❤️
@@k3n.clothtales finding a fallen whisker is always a happy surprise. Especially the black ones.
My older brother is the only person I know who found a dropped milk tooth from one of our kitties. And that was over 50 years ago. Soooo tiny!
Thank you for this tutorial. Your instructions were so clear. I'm ready to start my 1st stitch book, and feel confident to couch the wool I've collected for a lovely border. ❤
My pleasure, your stitch book sounds lovely ❤️
Have learnt a new stitch from you today. Haven't heard of couching before. I'm going to give it a try. Laughed out loud when you cat bumped the camera! Love that they're included 🐕🐈💙
Probably at one point he will take over the entire channel, though his stitching is rubbish! 🤣❤️
Fred is delightful 🐈⬛ Thank you for this tutorial.
I'll tell him you said so! 😊
I just starting slow stitching this Fall and love it. So relaxing. Love what you make everything.
Thank you 😊
I love couching but I mostly do trailing designs; I just couched some string on my journal cover 😊
The second one you did, with the wider cloth, almost looks like a holiday wreath. Perfect for the season.🤶🎅
yes, lots of red, gold and green, hadn't thought of that but now you mention it, I see it! ♥️
Oooh - I like this one! As you say...plenty of design opportunities - which I wouldn't have thought of if you hadn't pointed them out, so thank you. I love your animals. It was so funny when Fred Fred jumped into your scrap basket! 😂
Oh yes he's a hoot! No wonder my scraps are such a tangly mess. 😂
This is actually one of my favourite stitches! I love to couch bits of fabric, because the texture looks great!
Are you also going to talk about French knots? I love French knots 😍
I loved Fred’s participation on the tutorial 😂💙♥️🩷🧡💚💛🤍🩵💜🤎
Oh Fred is getting more of a fan club than me 😁 maybe he should start his own channel 😂 yes I am planning an episode on knots, French and others 😉😁❤️
Thank you so much.
Thank you again for your lovely teaching. I can’t wait to try this. ❤
My pleasure 😊
Thank you for another interesting video, I will be giving this a go too. 😊💗
My pleasure Julie 😄
Thank. Have never done cloth couching. Yet more ideas………Anne
You’re welcome 😊
Lovely stitch❤. Thank you!
My pleasure 😊
Great tutorial, K3n. I would like to see a sample where the ends of the couching "cord" are left long but I suppose that's just up to individual creativity. Thank you for this lesson.
You are welcome, perhaps I can include a couched piece with dangly ends in the weekly stitch project next year 😁❤️
I'm really enjoying your creativity and resourcefulness, thank you for showing me and everyone who may be watching.
I made a tiny X at the end of a couched circle which seems to hold the fluffy ends nicely.
That's a wonderful idea thank you, next time I couch, I will try that 😉❤️
Вы очень красивая! И так приятно слышать ваше приветствие hello lovely people ♥️
Thank you ❤
My craft room has a door - that the cat (Sable) throws herself at and screams at if I shut her out. She's louder than FredFred being a doofus in your scrap basket!
😂 cats eh? Gotta love 'em! And loving the description of Fred as a doofus! 😂
@@k3n.clothtales Sable gets called Doofus so often it's her other name.
Brilliant x
An added note: women seamstresses in days of yore would go blind due to their time sewing…think tapestries that were hung on walls, the bayeaux tapestry, included.
Yes that's true indeed ♥️
Muster? lol I’ve always said mustard but now you say it muster it is . When and if I think about it 😂
Noooo keep saying 'mustard', let's get it officially changed! 🤣❤️
🇧🇷😚😊🙏😘
So do you make the book/cover that your little finished pieces go in?
Yes, I make all my books. There are some tutorials on my channel for a couple of different kinds ❤️
Very good. What did you say about the 52 weeks next year?
I am sharing a weekly slowstitch along project here on my channel, more details in my Slowstitch An Introduction video if you are interested in following along. ❤️
Yes I think I am. Thank you
Why can’t we call it “hand stitching “, which is what it is.
It is hand stitching but there are many different kinds of stitches and this one is called couching. 😉
Slow stitching is a form of hand stitching. Slow stitching differs in that it uses scrap and doesn't have a planned pattern or use , rather it develops from your thoughts at the moment. It is very meditative, you could literally just stitch back and forth on a single piece of cloth while you clear your mind of stressful thoughts. Eventually you will have enough bits that there is an urge to make something with them.
Isn’t that Japanese stitching. ..? A true quilt has three layers, that is the definition
I am not aware that I called anything a quilt but in my experience, a quilt is defined as two layers held together by stitch. Also I don't know what you mean by Japanese stitching in this case? This is a video about couching.
