- Follow along to see how to properly replace the spud in the VorMax Plus self-cleaning toilet, by American Standard.
Step 1: Begin by removing the toilet seat from the VorMax Plus toilet, including the seat housing to reveal the spud.
Step 2: With a dry erase marker, mark the top of the bowl where the spud notch is located to ensure the spud placement is properly aligned. This will ensure the VorMax Plus FreshInfuser is installed properly.
Step 3: Remove the spud with a wrench.
Step 4: Before installing the replacement spud, be sure to line up the notch on the spud with the line drawn on the bowl.
Step 5: To install properly, place your index finger on the notch to hold the spud in place as you are tightening the nut to secure it. Then, tighten in place.
Step 6: To ensure proper alignment, install the VorMax Plus FreshInfuser, and make sure it lings up with the lock icon on the housing by placing the housing down, and lining up the seat holes to the holes on the bottom of the housing. If the VorMax Plus FreshInfuser lines up to the lock icon, the spud is installed properly. If not, go back 2 steps and try again.
Step 7: Secure the toilet seat housing and seat back onto the bowl, and the installation is complete.

I had no idea how to fix this problem until I watched this video. Thank you very much!
Hi Dwayne - We are glad to hear that you found this video helpful. If you ever do need further assistance, you can always give us a call at 800-442-1902 and a member of our Consumer Connection team will be happy to help. Thanks!
Extremely helpful video... Thank You. I removed mine to clean and didn't know that I should market first. I believe the key is to line it towards outdoor edge side of that hole. I did just that and it worked
Anyone know the part number for this part (spud)? I can't find it on the american standard web site and it's not illustrated on their parts list. I'm ready to rip out this toilet and buy a cheap toilet that doesn't leak.
I live in a shared house and my house owner installed one of these toilets. Her nephew (Ethiopian family, english second language) installed the whole thing himself, but this particular part keeps leaking. I'm thinking he just didn't line up the notches correctly, so I'm going to try fixing it myself in a few. This is just the video I needed. Thank you kindly. :)
Just sent American Standard a contact request with this very thing. So it's called a SPUD. Mine is leaking and I can't find any reference to the part at Home Depot where I bought it. Hope I get a message or a call.
I need a replacement spud...gasket cracked on mine and it is leaking...I have 3 of these toilets so would like to get 3-4 spare spuds for when each one starts to leak. Anyone know where to order one or what the is the part number?
Why do you have to replace the spud. Does it break
How to installation a new spud
The manual that comes with the toilet does not have any of this information on how to install the spud so I had to call for support and they sent me the video url.
How to installation spud
Why on earth would someone give this a thumbs down? I used this video to fix a leak with no issues whatsoever. The video is short, to the point, and accurate. Thank you!
I don't think it was the video they didn't like... It's the toilet. My job just put these in on all bathrooms and nothing but trouble! I say just put the blue things around the lid like the good ol day's😂😂😂
I want to plug the whole for a bidet. . . .apparently I am SHIT out of luck
Plug the hole with a 5/8 inch rubber plug stopper. Trim the rubber on the top (remove ring)
It works. I have my bidet now with no leaks!
How do I plug up that spud?
You ever find out? Trying to do this right now to install a bidet.
Buy a 5/8" rubber tub plug. Cut the ring and some of the rubber off. Plug the hole with it and you can install your bidet.
I found this on Reddit, and I did it. It worked, no leaks.
@@tammyfowler9994 Awesome, thank you! This worked for me, too :)
