I'm not really sure what people mean when saying 'There's nothing else to run other than surges' on legs. I have a hard time seeing when it's worth it because I use those slots for ability regen or healing for classes that don't have it. I mainly use kickstarter mods for lots of my builds, and surges totally contradict using kickstarters. I really like Foetracer especially with the new hunter bay blade aspect since they count as ability damage. Haven't used any of the others yet, but I think these changes are great because it just frees up surge slots for more ability based builds without sacrificing weapon damage.

The thing about Foetracer is that it enables multiple surge maximization. You can get maximum surge for free using the energy of your subclass while also being able to double down on Kinetic Surge x3 for those who run harder hitting kinetic weapons. Because let's be real, chances are you are going to be using kinetics to whittle down and stun champions because of their innate higher damage than Strand and Stasis (unless you are using Strand/Stasis Foetracer which is not worth it cause the energy specific exotics are leagues better), where you can then use an ability to tag high value targets and dump your favorite special ammo/heavy ammo energy weapons into them.

Foetracer isn't too bad on strand in the little bits I've used it. I can see it being used in higher end stuff, especially with suspend. Cyterwhatevers facade is okay, but if you're making lots of orbs, it can be a bit redundant.

Foetracer is great with a Solar hunter and Sunshot because of the massive boost to your ad clear potential. I’ve been using Cry Mutiny and having 5 damage boosts active at once after a single ability hit is nuts. Makes short work of pretty much all enemies. And since YAS got nerfed and Lucky Pants is more about single target DPS, Foetracer is one of the best solar hunter exotics right now. Pair it with Monochromatic Maestro and you shred everything with a build that balanced gunplay and a positive feedback ability loop.
Best part is, it can become pretty much unkillable because of the insane amount of regen you’re able to pull off.

The buff to lucky raspberry served me well in gms, but I found it hard to get my arcbolt back quickly because my teammates would activate the jolt from a target that I applied jolt to. I only get nade energy back if *I* activate the jolt. So I would definitely like if they added back in the "full chain gets you full energy" aspect back into it, but I would also settle for them making it give energy for my nade each time an ally activates a jolt that *I* apply to a target.

ACD Feedbacks have proofen themselves fairly useful in Master Crota runs for most encounters. Thralls are everywhere, so getting the punches in for charges and then the jolts for clearing them has been a really big help , especially when the typical normal mode loadouts weren't availible for me and my team. Running the afformentioned Strand setup did work pretty well too sometimes. But it synergized pretty well too running solar titan with the throwing hammer. On the first encounter, they killed a lot of enemies for me. on encounter 2 they've kept me alive with solar. on the Ir Yut fight they were a game changer for me when it came down to take care of all these rapidly respawing barrier champions and their thralls army.
I think it'll boil down to how frequently you're going to run into melee ranged enemies in the game and on what difficulty your loadouts are picked. On easy modes, the gimmicky strand build can be fun as an alternative to your heavy weapon. On harder modes, it can perhaps proof useful as an engine for armor charges. It has a niche and it does it well.

I think the most interesting thing I've seen with ACD Feedback fences that makes it pretty dang good is using it with Howl of the Storm on stasis. With any hit from the crystals you generate from it you will get a charge, allowing you to infinite combo even without charged up using 'generate stasis shards from crystals' aspect along with it. (the fragment that boosts melee energy gains is very helpful too, though if you use monte you don't need it). This is the one build I've seen that makes Rime not look like complete ass, and if you use it with chains you can also have the benefit of Jolting people that punch you, giving you access to it from your kit/exotic even when on stasis.
It's about the best option I've seen for the exotic, everything else you're better off using heart/syntho for sure.

Hollowfire heart should've buffed sunspots rather than give an unnecessary way to make them.
Hollowfire heart: sunspots give super energy, while your super is full, sunspots make you radiant. And obviously it should keep its increased ability regen while your super is full

I don’t understand why people would say they’re useless because you can’t use them with surges. Isn’t the whole point of using one of these that now you’ve freed up 9 energy on your build to do other things? Especially foetracer, cuz most if not all hunter subclasses involve hitting an enemy with a melee first already, so you’ll almost definitely have foetracer active when it’s a powerful combatant. And now you can use your leg space for a full stat mod, and get ability energy and healing from orbs. Plus freeing up the room on your legs could allow you to move stat mods around and get more use out of a different armor piece as well.

one fun thing with acd/0s is on stasis with howl of the storm, the melee has multiple hits so you get multiple charges from the initial hits and the shatters. melee kickstarts and charged up, throw on tectonic harvest, whispers of rending+hunger, and any good primary you can chain the melee back to back as long as you hit with it and can pick up the shards. not really endgame applicable but works in savs spire

Hallowfire should just give access to sunspots and allow you to bodge the third aspect into your build. Secant Filaments, the warlock boots that grant devour on empowering cast, basically give you devour for free... AND you can refresh devour as if you were running either the devour aspect or the fragment that gives it to you on orb pickup.

As one of those new ACD Feedback Fence enthusiasts (It was my first exotic) it's great with Stasis. In fact, it is the only build I use on Stasis Titan.
While the build doesn't allow for lenience when it comes to mod space, it still works and lets you spam your melee. Howl of the Storm is finally a viable option with Tectonic Harvest, and Monte Carlo isn't necessary, but is a good backup.
The rework actually did really good for Stasis Titan. I'd use it in raids and strikes, but endgame content might be a pass.

I have this exact same problem but with Warlock exotics, and similarly Titan exotics. So many of them do the same thing. Fallen Sunstar and CoT: gives extra arc energy. Nezarec’s Sin: extra void energy. Eye of Another World, Apotheosis Veil, and to a slightly different extent Verity’s Brow? Gives extra energy. That’s half of the Warlock helmets, with a small tweak for subclass or charge times. Synthoceps, Peregrine, Wormgod Caress are all flavors of melee damage buffs, granted that fits Titans, but their not super innovative or anything. Take Hunter exotics for example. Yes, a lot of them are rather constrained/niche, but they do that niche super well. Athrys’s Embrace gives a melee bonus damage yes, but it also adds extra utility(Unstoppable stun) and further enhances the playstyle that melee offers (extra bounce). Why can’t other classes get that treatment more? Briarsbind is a perfect example of focusing on a single niche, and making it extremely worthwhile. Would love a change to something like Wormgod’s Caress that leans more into one melee, say bonk hammer, and allows you to call back you hammer, maybe make it able to stun a champion on initial impact.

The Hallowfire Heart changes really feel like they were made to pair with Phoenix Cradle, even if you can't equip them together.
Chaining sunspots across the arena that your teammates can use for restoration and ability regen sounds like an AWESOME support type build and an alternative to pure bonking.
Please bungie, shove these changes into Phoenix Cradle and let Hallowfire Heart do its own thing (maybe bring back melting point for consecration? Pretty please?). With the exception of granting increased ability energy while the super is full, it should allow solar abilites to apply a set amount of scorch and while the super is charged, it should increase the damage of scorch & increase ability regeneration.

I think a cool idea for Hallowfire would be: enemies scorched by your abilities explode into a bunch of smaller or less potent sunspots in a small/medium radius. Alternatively: enemies killed by your solar abilities explode for a % of their max hp, each enemy killed by said explosion gives % energy back.
Might have some balancing issues, but it's food for thought. I definitely hope we see more risk in future exotic reworks/creations.

I'm gonna be the aforementioned "Um actually" guy for Foetracer here. This is one of, if not the best exotic for Strand Hunter. And the reason is not the damage buff, but the guaranteed tangle. Being able to guarantee a tangle EXACTLY when you need it is a huge boon. It lets you keep uptime on your beyblades to a maximum and to its most efficient. Having 2-3 beyblades going at at time is absolutely wild, and then you get a very sizable damage buff on top of that as well. Everything is severed, everything is in a blender, and elite collapse like tissue paper.

  • @spidudetoo1212

Feedback fences have the best use with strand melee build currently. You have even more damage resistance on top of woven mail. A GM unstoppable ogre slamming on you tickles at best, and jolts them for the team. Melee bosses become an absolute joke.
Also as you get armor charges per hit, this also means you get armor charges PER ENEMY hit and every hit of a multi hit melee, such as the strand grapple melee. A single good grapple melee can put you upwards of 3 armor charges instantly. A 5 charge feedback fence explosion is quite potent it turns out. And thanks to health orbs, a kill brings you back to full health. You are very, very hard to kill in the hardest modes of the game with this set up, especially if you get in everything's face and force them into melee animations.

Having the option to throw an arcbolt grenade and Jolt 4 targets at once is pretty nice.
But I just don't think it holds a candle to the other Arc Hunter exotics. Give me Liar's Handshake or Assassin's Cowl and I'm good.
Hallowfire Heart, you said it best already; Solar Titans have so many exotics to choose from, including the new Burning Maul exotic, that Hallowfire Heart just isn't on anyone's priority list outside of fashion.

The Hallow Fire heart nerf actually feels so bad. Losing out on free ability regen in leiu of... the same ability regen we had before without the exotic.
How I would have buffed it would be:
Increases ability regeneration, increases even further while you have full super energy. Sunspots deal more damage and apply more scorch, applying more while you have full super energy.
Feedback Fences are good honestly. If snything the armor charge system needs more stuff to make building into it more exciting.
Lucky Raspberry just needs 1 of 2 small changes. Either make arcbolts Jolt at base, or make arcbolt hits also return a small amount of energy. I like the second more since it leans into its previous fantasy of hitting a max chain to get your arcbolt back, but the first would work fine to free up a fragment slot.
