For my test Cinematic Studio String is my favourite. Thanks
Absolutely gorgeous, Ben! Can you send me over the midi file to test these out with my numerous 8Dio libraries?
easy to play in yourself, because it's so short. or grab the file at classicalarchives.com and add CC 7/11 data etc..
The 150 players version sounds less blurry than I expected! Could be useful in some (big dramatic) situations. Thanks for the informative video🙂
Thanks for watching. Some libraries blend better than others. takes some experimentation.
I have these libraries as well. After this comparison, I need to start using my 8dio Century Strings more. Sometimes, I forget that I have them since I tend to gravitate towards the libraries in Kontakt Player free version. Also, I have Performance Samples Pacific and Vista that I rarely use for this same reason. Beautiful libraries, but out of sight, out of mind.
Excellent video
Thank you very much! check out my follow video up posted a few days ago comparing a new set of libraries.
I'm just deciding what library to use with Dorico for a new project. I'll probably use Appassionata as a second string section but torn between CSS and BBC Pro strings. CSS great for filmy/trailer stuff but not sure about symphonic. BBC seems clearer although doesn't seem to have quite the dynamic range somehow.
For writing in Dorico I always start with Noteperformer. Small footprint and very good expression map to address all articulations. It also is fairly balanced within the sections. Later I switch to BBC Core or VSL to try a different template for production. For better control I move everything to Cubase if I have to deliver stems etc. Check out the demos on the Noteperformer site (bottom of page) . Same pieces played through various libraries. Very interesting. www.noteperformer.com/?page=playback_engines_overview&anchor=playback_engines
Nice Video!!!! Thank you. I'm purchasing my arsenal, I have BBC professional, appasionata and 8dio century from this video. I also have spitfire chamber strings, 8dio solo strings, 8dio adagio, 8dio intimate strings and i'd like to buy spitfire symphonic strings professional and spitfire studio strings professional.
What strings do you recomentd from VSL, is for making classical crossover music???
Thanks for watching. I always layer strings as well. mix and match etc. depending on the character of sound. Also check out Afflatus Strings by Strezov. Beautiful sounds. From VSL I do like the Dimension Strings or Synchron. Smaller sections and very flexible.
