Hey Garth, it's Keith Sharples, boater and friend of your folks! Not sure if you'll remember me...it's been a while..but great to see you're into Photography. I'm just getting back into it again after s few years away, and have managed to pick up a few good bargains in the film camera department. One camera I could NEVER be without though, us the Contax 139 quartz... AMAZING piece if kit once you get used to all the features in it..and learn how to combine those features to make it stand in its head. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you to get yourself one if you don't have one already, or at least look then up.. you'd be amazed that a camera that came out in 1979 (costing even then £1,000 just for the camera body!) has so much going on..!!! Take it easy mate, and hopefully I'll get to see you again when I'm back over your side of the country sometime.

Looks like you got some really nice accessories for your Hasselblad - dig the Kodak shirt, too.

Oh I wish you well learning to spot out dust on prints. It's an art form all on its own. We used to have someone doing this full time in our processing lab. You'll find it rewarding but also highly frustrating!

the first one worked well using the nuteral black but the second time i tried it, it was very frustrating beginers luck i suppose but it defonitly is an artform in itself

B&W print spotting is something of an art form. There are many books and magazines from the past which discuss materials (of that era) and techniques, one being in the Ansel Adams photo book series. Historically, in the US the major brand was Spotone, which came in several small bottles of dye concentrates. Spotone was supplied with instructions to mix various ratios of different shades to match the color of the paper brand. Not as hard to do as it sounds. Unless you spend all of your time making exhibition prints, a kit like that will last for many years. Current on-line instruction is there, but is minimal, because color eclipsed film photography, which phased out education re spotting, and then digital overtook film, replacing traditional print spotting with Photoshop adjustments.
