  • I am beyond thrilled to discuss the spring 2024 selenite find in Durango, Mexico! The pieces are extraordinary and certainly rival those found in Naica.
This video touches a little bit on the mineralogy of selenite and then goes on to discuss the history of the Naica mine and where it's projected to grow as well as introduces the new find in Durango.

I'm usually more of a fan of silicates, but also as a fan of fluorescence and the ever-elusive phosphorescence this definitely piqued my interest! Still haven't got a phosphorescent mineral specimen yet. The inclusions are really cool too, I know most people don't like them but there's something so satisfying about otherwise perfectly formed crystals either with inclusions or structural defects to spice things up. Probably will be a lot like other new yet spectacular finds where these will be shockingly affordable for a couple years before demand catches up and they become harder to come by, like with Milpillas azurites. I might have to try and snag one of these some time once they become more available.

@@StuffandThings_ generally myself as well! Silicates are just top tier. But yes, my gosh! I'm so shocked by these pieces, and I agree, inclusions like this look like shifting sand frozen forever. It is just enchanting. They're already kind of close to Naica in price and personally I am the only one I know of that has them for sale at the moment.
