    This is great, it gives such interesting cultural insights and fun phrases. Do you know where the phrase about putting horns on someone came from? It’s used in the Balkans and Turkey as well with exactly the same meaning.

      @@HowToVietnamese Yes they do but this one is so idiomatic and specific that I wonder if it came from the French or Portuguese. Seems to be all around the Mediterranean. There’s even a hand signal to signify it (fist with index and little fingers raised, like horns on a bull).

      @@HowToVietnamese Dạo này bài học yêu thích của mình gồm tiếng lóng và thành ngữ!
      With that, I most enjoy practicing conversations & expressions that contain more feelings or emotional expression. (Hence, why I like this video.) It's one thing to know how to greet someone & ask questions, order food, or get directions - but being able to convey how you feel (and how strongly you feel) is really fun for me right now. Anything that allows me to be more colorful or playful when I speak!
      A few examples:
      - "I like that" is good to know, "That's amazing!" is better
      - "That's bad" is good to know, but "that really sucks" is better
      - in one of your other videos: "xạo" is good, but "xạo bà cổ" - that was awesome! 😃😃😃
      Lastly, again - the notation & subtitles on-screen are neat & organized, the pace of your speaking is smooth, and the overall quality of your videos are on point. Keep 'em coming, Caroline!

    why is the translation from Vietnamese to English seem so segmented? So hard to put these together because my mind grammatically in English isn't the right way in Vietnamese T_T

    • @HowToVietnamese
      @HowToVietnamese  Před rokem +1

      I know right! Tell yourself there are things that will not make sense! (because every language is different). So just have to accept them as they are, and try repeating/memorizing smaller phrases/chunks, so you can use them automatically without translating in your head. I'm doing this to learn another language too!
