    Awesome. I have a bamboo gtr. Tip of the day from me.- get a 6" wheel kit. It's awesome!!! Especially for carving. I have 97mm, 6 and 7" AT kits. They all great for different things.

      Yes!! I bought a 6" kit a couple of days ago and I'm looking forward to trying them out (when it stops raining!!). I've heard really good things about them for urban riding.

      I was actually wondering if the 6” were better all arounders, Id like to see a review between the 6 and 7”

    Hey mate, looking at getting my first evolve board. Have had 2 hub motor e-boards in the past that have lasted all of 4 months which has lead me to these guys.
    A lot of mixed reviews online with the evolve brand. Remote connection being one of the major issues I've read online and motor failures.
    Have you experienced any of the following with their new gtr? And do these boards free roll if the remote was to ever disconnect or if the board was to ever turn off on its own?
    Have read a lot of comments about riders being thrown off their boards due to disconnection and the board slamming the breaks on its own.
    Other than that thank you for this informative review. Keep em coming 👌

    • @BrianLomas
      @BrianLomas  Před 4 lety +2

      Good questions and I totally get why you're asking them. I'll answer from my personal experience.
      I've been riding the Carbon GTR since they were launched earlier this year. I've done a lot of miles/kilometres in all kinds of situations (city, suburban, rural etc.) and I've been riding both street and AT setups. I've also done a bunch of testing (not shown in the video) to see how far I can push the board. The result has been zero disconnects and for me that equals riding and doing stuff without worrying about it at all. The changes that Evolve made to the batteries and the software that manages them means that there are no surprises. If you manage to push the board so hard that the software needs to protect the battery in some way, then you get plenty of haptic feedback (vibration) from the remote before there is any mode change. I have a suspicion that there are quite a few riders that don't read the manual and ignore this with unpleasant AND misreported consequences.
      If you learn how the remote and board work together, understand the feedback it gives you and maintain your gear...you'll be issue free. That said, I'll answer the roll question for completeness. IF there is a loss of power, the board will not brake. It will roll. BUT there are some factors that you need to consider relating to how well it will roll.
      Firstly, there are belts, gears and motors connected to the wheels so it will NOT be a friction-less roll. There will be some resistance depending on how tight your belts are and what wheels you are using. Secondly, how much loss of momentum you experience when you start to roll will be affected by how fast you're going, whether you're travelling uphill or downhill etc. A sudden loss of power when travelling uphill at high speed results in a rapid change in momentum (physics 101!) that many riders interpret as their board braking when in fact no active braking has occurred.
      Lastly, I let my young kids ride my Carbon GTR... which kind of says it all really :-)
