  • Lucali's pizza is not only said to be some of the best in Brooklyn but in the world. We arrived hours early to eat at the legendary pizzeria but still had to queue for over 2 hours just to get a pizza. The story behind Lucali helps further increase the legendary status of the pizzeria. Prior to opening Lucali in 2006, owner Mark Iacono had never dreamt of being a cook. From working in construction, to studying at the famous Di Fara’s, to serving A-list celebrities like Jay Z and Beyoncé, the story of Lucali is one filled with mystic and legend.
    Is this the best pizza EVER?? 🍕

    I was here on Wednesday 4th May 2022 and for me it’s the best pizza I’ve ever had hands down. I went for a few slices at Di Fara and Johns of Bleeker but they still don’t compare in my eyes.

    • @mrvk39
      @mrvk39 Před 7 měsíci +1

      have you tried real Neapolitan pizza in NYC? Lucali is kind of weird because it's a combination of typical NYC pizza and Neapolitan one. I think Johns is overrated but Di Fara is better than Lucali. But, i get why people think Lucali is better, especially if they start getting all sorts of ingredients on top that places like Di Fara simply doesn't offer. But, one of my favorite real Neopolitan would be Keste (espeically when they have fresh burrata and also their non-pizza appetizers are great) and Motorino. But, there are other ones which are great too.

      @@mrvk39 "Real Neapolitan" is not the objective pinnacle of pizza. You are delusional if you think people don't have differing tastes in texture or flavor. The best NY pizza adds crispiness to traditional Neapolitan flavor. To me that's the best. To others they want the sponginess of traditional Neapolitan pizza. You are not the arbiter.

    • @mrvk39
      @mrvk39 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@Pre1321 did anyone said it was "objective pinnacle of pizza"? You are here fighting a windmill. Lucali is very close to Neapolitan style, which is why I suggested some incredibly good Neapolitan options. I, personally, like New Heaven thin crust style too, but NYC doesn't have a ton of choices, though some Roman-style places are good. And you, obviously, never tried Neapolitan if you think it's "spongy".

      @@neilgayleard3842 NYC has more variety of pizzas than any one place in Italy. The own of Lucali's Mark Iacono gets his pizza from Di Faras also in Brooklyn. He claims the King of pizza making is Dom Demarco who started this place up.

      Iacono makes his own pizza in house. He's not buying them from another restaurant.

      I've seen Iacono in several video profiles and he's a charming guy but he's also a bit cagey about how he seemingly came out of the chute from nowhere and
      started making a world class pizza. It makes more sense that he got "schooled" at DiFara, he makes it sound like he just kind of "stumbled" onto his
      recipe, which I've always thought was hogwash. But doesn't matter, Sally's is still the king!

      Haha, they absolutely do not. It's a tiny restaurant with huge hype. People line up to ensure they get a very limited number of seats. It's that simple.
